Dear sifus, I just ran 3DMark06 (version 1.2.0) and the final score seemed way lower (by arout 400 points) than that of Beowolf's. The specs are exactly the same Will the marks differ due to different versions of 3DMark06 used? Or the score differences are due to background programs? Thanks in advance for your input

This is mine Alienware m17x | Core 2 Duo T9600 | 2x 2GB Elpida PC3-10700 DDR3 RAM | NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260M 1024MB GDDR3 SLi | ForceWare 257.38 | Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit @ 1280x800 Detailed breakdown: 3DMark Score 12154.0 3DMarks SM2.0 Score 5623.0 HDR/SM3.0 Score 6118.0 CPU Score 2463.0 lousy cpu score, will take one with minimal services running in the background the next time =.=
Sorry about the lots of attachment, 3dmark06 doesn't exactly display it like i expected.

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Dec 19 2010, 04:23 AM) Background services can affect... Is the nVidia 310M clocks speed the same with Beouwulf ? Thanks for the reply bro A quick check shows that only the "Texture Filtrate" value is different from that of Beowulf (apart from driver versions).... others all the same Err... how do I know how much background services/programs I'm supposed to disable before running 3DMark? Thanks in advance!

Just try run after restart, and close any startup program....
If you have different texture fillrate, then you should have different clocks speed...

Err... maybe I'm not reading the info correctly haha The comparison is below, I still don't see any different clock speed

Maybe that's the reason why all Satellite M500 units always experience the "driver has stopped working and recovered" issue I don't think there's any way I can troubleshoot this right? Anyway, thanks for your input bro, appreciate it!

GT 330M is similar range of the Mobility Radeon HD 4650. Built-in NVIDIA® PhysX. Modern and demanding DirectX 10 and 11 games (like Crysis or Risen) can only be played fluently with medium detail settings and resolution settings. Less demanding games like Sims 3 run in high details

between GMA HD vs HD550v, which one is worth taking? (by taking GMA HD, i'll save about rm300).. usage for movies and simple editing films taken by own camcorder (eg DCR SR68E). other spec roughly the same.

Upgrade for ? Most likely can only upgrade your CPU since higher possibility that your GPU is soldered...

QUOTE(uzary @ Jan 2 2011, 08:01 PM) Upping your budget buy a few hundred and getting a HD5470 at the very least? Or wait for Sandy Bridge.
