QUOTE(ar188 @ Sep 23 2009, 01:31 PM)
anyway, what's wrong with 8642/3? u mean lousier than realtek izzit?

have you tried a Dune 1.0 before?
have you tried DVICO 6500 before

all uses sigma designs running at only 300MHz.. also can play BD-ISO/BDMV with Java (dune) and basic BDMV (6500 with BD-lite)

realtek can't even bitstream lossless audio now (have to wait for SDK 2.0 as per chew's comment) let alone read BD-ISO.. or play Java.. you think any hope to be a BD media streamer (high end requirement)? at best it's just a mid range RMVB+MKV player..

new Sigma designs 8642/3 and 55 chipset is 500-667MHZ.. that's roughtly twice as powerful as before...

Nothing wrong with sigma. what i mean is sigma fully support on Bluray player manufacturer but respond slow for the DMP manufacturers. That is why Dvico came out with their own RFX to decode and debug the problem they face. But this cause their firmware update slow and blame by consumers.

Don't think that Realtek made in Taiwan is bad. Actually they are coming up becuase of sigma given the chances, the poor support on SDK for DMP manufacturers. I have tested 6600A and the output colour as good as 8635. Even my AV installer confirmed that. Btw, until now, for colour handling, TViX still the best among other media players. I think because of their firmware developed. The start time 28 seconds only compare with 6500 take about 1 minute 20 seconds. Flash RAM 1283 is 128MB and dvico can write more compare with 8635 64MB flash RAM.

pls take note that 8655 is lower end then 8642/3, even 1283. Don't be confuse.

If sigma cannot fast respond on SDK, so what for 8642/3? Can't u see that C200 suppose to be launched on end of July but until now.... sweat.gif

err. who's confused? if I already mention 500-667MHz means I' aware that 8642-8655 operate in this range la..

anyway, results speak more than just talk, show me a BD-iso + Java playing realtek 1073 product if you say it's as good as 8635 (must have same full function as Dune 1.0 or dune 3.0 or C-200) , and I'll get it... am not against realtek but if it's not as good or same league as dune/C-200 means not good enuf for my next replacement player..

looks like most of the complaints is due to gigabit lan connection playback.. anyway I don't do that.. run from int' HDD..

being able to play BD-ISO+JAVA (reduced function in certain conditions, like running off the NAS/LAN/USB, which will require future firmware tweaking) is better than not able to do it at all for something that costs the same price range (i.e 6600)... IMHO... hmm.gif

Added on September 23, 2009, 7:23 pmthanks to reading the mpcclub forum on the dvico, 6600 got no gigabit lan.. so how to play BDMV smoothly via network?? wah?? 100/10 or 11n can meh?

This is due to 1283 limitation. u don't know meh??? doh.gif Xtreamer and PlayOn!HD also same, 10/100. But 6500 also play BD-Lite without problem thru 10/100 (6500 is 10/100). Actually I tested with 2 6600 access simultaneously into Thecus NAS N0503 playing a same very high-bitrate (about 40Mbps) file together without any stutter. Fantastic. heard Dvico promised to develop BD-lite in 6600 also and can handle even better then 6500 becuase Flash RAM is double up. We will see... brows.gif

I dunno, if I were into color I'll start with a hi quality video source like BD.. not use highly compressed files like MKV... biggrin.gif

No it doesn't make sense. There is no movie out there with either Deep Colour or xvYCC.

Handle the colour of video? I'm wondering if he means colour space conversion? Or colour decoding errors? Or ? Not sure thats why I ask.

I have calibrated thru a ACRyan and a DVICO M7000, so I know what the problems associated to each one are, I want to understand what he means before commenting.
