After being bombarded by complaints about fw 2388 here's a reply posted at the forums by Eugene of AC Ryan POHD :-
---------------------------------------
Guys, I have taken note of the matters being raised over here (
referring to POHD forum) and I will provide some answers when I'm back to my desk on Monday. However, please bear with me at the moment cos I'm currently involved in an exhibition over in Singapore so I may not be replying much next week.
Some answers I would be able to provide now.
Subtitles
The previous firmware has been improved time and again on the subtitles colour, spacing, positoning, etc but all these had been "reset" with the new SDK. We need more time to adjust and fine-tune all these back to what we used to love. At the present moment in this firmware release, we have managed to improve on the colour depth of SRT subtitles.
HDMI handshake issues with certain LCD TV brands, especially Sony
This is an issue that doesn't seem to be resolved time and again even with the support from Realtek on this. Every firmware release we did seems to solve some but bring back some other's problem again. While Playon!HD isn't the only model affected, we have also seen some users seeking support from Sony which are given a firmware for their TV model to resolve the problem. Of course, we'll try to sort this out on our side if possible.
HD audio
The current upset has already been noted and we will sort this out with Realtek. SPDIF RAW
Audio not playing (using optical) unless preview is started will be taken as a bug fix.
BT/SAMBA unable to install
Depending on your previous firmware version, you may need to reinstall the extension package again. Should the system auto installation fails, please download the package from our Playon!HD website (support tab) and try installing them off the root directory of your flash drive.
