How much did you pay, bro.  I'm thinking getting one myself from SG too bad the supplier is not around till weekend and I'll be on business trip next week, so looks like I can only have my hands on it the week after next then  wink.gif

Roughly about RM650++ including shipping..
I got it from ideals.com.sg.. Received the item 2 weeks after I placed my order there..

QUOTE(newjack @ Aug 21 2009, 04:08 PM)
congrats to u .. but want to ask why didn't u install the 1 TB in the player ?

And did you buy it with the Wireless N or Wireless G dongle ?
*
My PC is running out of space.. so I bought 1TB last month..
Im using that harddisk as a buffer for my download folder before extracting them..
So, I need to get another harddisk for this player.. Realizing that this player can play movies streaming from my PC smoothly, I defer my plan to next month lar. Raya neh nak pakai duit lagi lorr.. hoho!

end up i spend the next 1 week running here and there for the letter of sirim. cost me nothing for the letter, but petrol spent on here and there loh. And not to mentioned countless phone/visit to plenty of authority.
I almost gave up and do not wan to take the charger edi, since I can easily buy it off store here.

The player cannot do BD ISO or BDMV with the current firmware. It is a *promised* feature in upcoming firmware...but dunno when...

if it can play M2TS properly (with proper audio track selection) maybe still can salvage it's functionality.. for the time being.. smile.gif

HD audio able to recognize selection and support? (to bitstream it to AVR)

as for many M2ts, if it's smart it will try to select the largest or next largest file, instead of start from the first M2TS..

QUOTE(barry @ Aug 19 2009, 09:59 AM)
moomoos,
Sorry, no got Dvico to compare with. This my first HD media player, and so far I am very pleased with it.

After a few hours of fiddling with the settings on my ACR and my plasma, the picture looks very pleasing indeed. The colours are beautifully rendered based on my aging eyes. 1080p mkv's play smoothly with an occasional lag during fwd skips. I am now not sure if I want to play BD ISO files considering that my plasma is only HD Ready and that these files are humongus in size. For those without AV amps to decode DTS, the HDMI output will produce down-mixed audio to your TV. One thing I find lacking in this player (donno about other players) is that it does not allowing you to do any scaling. It is either set to 4:3 or 16:9, unlike the soft player like my favourit BS Player.
*
If it can't do scaling then the viewable area will look small right ? Can only see big black bar on top and bottom for 16.9? shocking.gif
Anyone tried to do scaling ? hmm.gif

Ok, just played with the unit briefly. My first impression of it is that it is huge! It is about 2 WDTVs placed facing each other. Also the built quality of it is a bit on the lower end. The front panel of PlayOn looks cheap compared to the WDTV. Otherwise the built is quite solid and so are the jacks on the back. The remote is better than the WDTV is it is more comfortable held in the hand because of its larger size, but it has a very bright and annoying blue LED light whenever any key is pressed. On handling media files, I tested with Knowing BDMV and it didn't work as expected, but it was able to play the m2ts flawlessly with audio changing. I don't have an AVR right now so I am not sure if it will passthrough HD audio but according to the manual if HDMI RAW is selected in the menu it will. My unit is from the 2nd batch with the DTS downmix firmware and I can confirm that indeed does work. Also, it was able to playback a problematic mkv which hung and stuttered on the WDTV. That was all I manage to test tonight. Will further explore more tomorrow night when I have the time.

So, from my 15 minute hands-on, its thumbup.gif thumbup.gif for the PlayOn!HD. smile.gif

Didn't try RMVB files yet. Will try my Wifey's RMVB Cantonese serials tomorrow. BTW just to add, the earlier tests were done with external HDD. No lagg or stutter even with 28GB M2TS file. smile.gif
