It is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than WDTV Live! It can play rmvb you know?! That's the most important feature people look for when you look for HD media player. Do not get the WDTV Live, wait for this to restock, you won't regret it.

btw, I still prefer mkv over 720p rmvb coz the PQ of mkv apparently better than 720p rmvb

Size does not always make a difference. Tested 300MB+ RMVB on mine & the PQ looks better than 500MB+ AVI. So maybe realtek chipset has some special upscaling function for RMVB. But no matter what, on fast action scene, RMVB is dead meat!

you think Real codec is that efficient meh?
up against H264 which is probably as compact and efficient as it can be without losing real video quality... (as you mention, fast moving scene.. real cannot liao.. too much compression here..)

also the MKV is packing 5.1 channels while RMVB is only stereo for those gigabyte sizes.. those data have to be lost somewhere..

The RealVideo 9 core base on AVC(H.264) and RealAudio AAC also have 5.1

only if your rmvb using those codecs.

picture quality is not as good as wdtv hd

RMVB is considered very good quality for cantonese drama series but cant' better that of Mpeg4 and MKV

as conversion of rmvb will deteriorate the quality.. so just D/L and watch
