well for me the functionality matters more. if i can get used with these:
- typing in the dark is not really a hassle for me since i don't look at the keyboard when typing
- the housing doesn't really matter much to me.

so i guess my pick would be macbook. hmm

agreed. i think the most important part is the aluminium unibody. it's pretty much easier to maintain than a white mac. plus the keyboard lighting helps a lot when working in the dark. btw, firewire 800 is quite expensive it think, coz the old firewire is 400 only, rite?

I agree that the Macbook Pro is better than Macbook but its not RM900 better, IMO. That's why I got the Macbook.

BTW, seems like hell for those who want to buy a Macbook Pro but at the same time waiting for the upgrade release. The Macbook Pro updates has been anticipated since like what, December?

Late 2008,
8GB for 2.66 or 2.93GHz
6GB for 2.4, 2.53 or 2.8GHz
Apple say 4GB only.

To all the Mac experts here, when can we expect the next batch of Macbooks and/or iMacs? I am seriously considering a Mac for personal use, and thinking of either Macbook or iMac. Was so close to doing an online order today, as its the last day for the Uni deal (free iPod Touch) here in Australia, but was convinced by both my brothers to wait for Apple to introduce Macs with Intels new i3, i5 and i7 processor.

It's not that I am impatient, but as far as I know, Apple tends to update their products every 6 months to a year, so it would be quite upsetting if I buy one, and they update it in the next 2-3 months. Cause in 2008, I waited and waited until it was time for me to leave to Australia already, and Apple hadn't announced any new Macs, so I thought I'd go for a cheap option and got myself a RM3,xxx Sony Vaio. That's why I don't know now if its worth waiting or to get it now. It's too late for me to get the Uni deal now I think, as they said that the offer ends on the 29th March.

So anyone know when we can expect new Macbooks and iMacs? Any response at all would be much appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: Oh, and rest assured that this isn't one of those "I want a Mac" topics that are opened for no reason. I am very serious about this purchase. So I hope the response is serious too. It's a big step for me, cause I have never used a Mac before.
