Hi guys, here are some of my info and my trainer told me I'm underweight and I have to gain weight

heigh:173cm
weight:55.5kg

My goal is mainly focus on upper part of my body, bigger chest, biseps, triceps. Not like those bodybuilder. Just want to get in shape. Lots of people telling I'm skinny. That's why.
Any sharing with me plz?

I used to be skinny too. Well about 5 years ago, I was 165cm and 50 kg. But i went overseas study, after about 2 years I was 167cm and 60kg (roughly estimated).

My main advice is do not skip any meals, be it breakfast/lunch/dinner/supper. Yea rite, supper is a must to gain weight.

If you are in a gym session, of coz they wont advise you to take those fatty stuff and take high protein product, but hey you dont have anything to shape your body apart from bones. So gain some meat first, before you hit the gym.

Usually for skinny ppl i discover, it's either they skip meals (i used to skip breakfast alot, and lunch) or their metabolism is too high compared to what type of food or the amount you eat.

So if a normal person should consume around 2000 calories a day, you should have like 3000. My fren used to tell me he bcame fat by eating burger for supper. Eat more high carbo and protein stuff.

For exercise, the basic but useful one is push-ups.

Since you already got trainer, I think he'll help you out for your training part.
Your eating part is the one you must cover yourself. Like what janson said, NEVER skip meals. For skinny people should be eating 5 meals a day.
Basically the rule is to never feel hungry.

If you ate at 7pm, and you sleep at 3am and you feel a little hungry but lazy to cook so you go to sleep, that also consider hungering yourself. I know because I was like that too smile.gif

ChannelWee,
I hope you do think of gain weight as in gain more lean muscle, not fat for the sake of "I'm heavier now".
Checkout some of those member's workout journal here who successfully gain muscle mass.
Many talk about gain weight in this forum. Search for it.

do not worry man no matter how hard you try or how long you train or how much you eat, you will NEVER look like a bodybuilder. do you ACTUALLY think that just by eating 1 piece of chicken breast a day, drink 1 scoop of protein shake and carry some puny a$$ weight, you will be looking like a bodybuilder? well, then i suggest think again or better still, go binge drinking. you will feel much better that way. couch potatoes have better mentality than you, man!

I met two of my schoolmates in the gym. Both of them look like a lidi last time. Now one of them still look a bit thin (appearance), 180cm at 70kg but he can bench press 80kg (10 reps), nais!

Another guy became huge, but I think he put on weight slightly over a little. This guy around 185cm.
