but i do agree that in some way of modding a specific part of the console is against the "say no to piracy" policy

BUT, we still cant deny the fact that there are other types of modding does not help in piracy

as a moderator in your own forum i think you should have more knowledge than me in that particular part of modifications im stating right?

Seriously, we can do that if we wanted to, i.e. banning on modded consoles. Previously there's already a debate going on on whether or not wanting to do that.
But like explained by H@H@ and prasys and other forummers, modded consoles doesn't really meant playing pirated games although it's a norm. Thus we haven't reached that state of banning modded consoles yet.

actually should be banned but one of the elements need to be highlighted modded console can do only this play region free games from overseas but just user abuse it .

Dude, even if i mod the console, I am still paying 1k for the console.

How much are u paying for the games then? You are paying 5-10bucks for ppl to copy the blardy game and those copier aint paying a single cent to the developer of the game.

At least if I add a modchip, I still support whichever company who produce the machine.

Adding a modchip to wii for example allow us to play games from different region and sometimes certain region game is cheaper and release earlier ( i am talking bout original ).

While for the homebrew, its another story!

And I keep repeating myself that statement holds true for consoles other than XBox360

we all know there is more to modding than playing backup games but then this is lovely malaysia. we all know why ppl here wants to mod , most of them buying xbox360 modded is because of wanting to live like its the last generation where we all get our games for rm 5 a piece. they want to stretch it to this generation of gaming. i sound like a broken record now.


well no free game but modded console ahemxbox360ahem can be sold here. talking about double standards. btw when i brought up modded console , im talking about xbox360. ps2 usually is automatically modded here in malaysia. and getting a ps2 original game in malaysia is downright ridiculous. no where to be found except some forumer selling 2nd hand ps2 ntsc/u and of course play-asia. carry on then. its a free forum anyway. just remember deep down we all know this is double standards.

If you're talking about PC...
then this can be applied.
As PCs are important for us in every way and piracy games can be banned ..TOTALLY.
Other ppl use PC for education,
some ppl use PC for watching movies and listening to music.
others are for surfing the net and etc.
This can be understandable and can be given a zero tolerance.

Example:

I am shutting down the internet using "zero tolerance"
and what are PCs for then?

But for this..

but i never play pirated game
the reason i had modded 360 is becoz my 360 drive has been kaput
no more warranty

even if i take drive from other machine also i cannot used on my 360
coz different id/machine detected

so..no choice...
install alternate firmware and install on my 360
so wat!!!i had modded 360 with ori games...
can ask djinn from gamershideout to clarify me as buyer from them

Look at what you just said. No matter how small this group are, we cannot ignore them. Plus, I'm tempted to ask for a source, because based on the number of next-gen console users in Malaysia, even a number like 50 ppl would constitute more than a percent of the total console population.

Though it may be true that a large majority of ppl who mod their consoles to play pirated games, that doesn't change the fact that there are users who have legitimate uses for it.
It would totally be unfair to punish these ppl who are using it legitimately, in very much the same way it would be unfair to ban the discussion of Bittorrent here just because the vast majority of its users use it to download illegal things.

You want us to shut down all Bittorrent discussions as well?
