all of you are experiencing normal battery usage ler.. wats the point u off all good bits? push notifications, 3G, tune the brightness down by allot, off this off that.

might as well get a normal 500 bucks phone right? thn you get what you all want. super long battery life..

the beauty of the ip are the functions. dont deny its beauty just because you want to save on battery life. not enough juice? just charge. i bet most of you are working now, you hv a laptop or pc next to you. just charge.. simple.still not enough? go get a battery pack where u can charge on the go.. still not enough? get a adaptor for your car.. still not enough.. dont use the iphone.. go get a normal bar phone.. problem solve..

Nicely said! Ppl are choosing aesthetics over function which just degrades the purpose of getting a smartphone.

It's normal for it to get hot when you charge it..Once the battery is charged there should be no more current flow and it should be back to the normal temp..

im not sure about this.. been charging my phone since 7pm till now..
3% to 38% spend almost 2 hours to charge..
my previous experience 2 hours i think can charge almost full d..
and my ipod touch doesnt get heat when i charge it..
also my iphone when on my hand 1st week doesnt have heat problem also when i charging it
i wish to get my iphone to claim warranty but i would need spend another rm50 for screen protector again.. =(

edited: just shut my phone down on 39% and on it back after 5min
then battery percentage went to 45%
so this confirm is battery faulty?

k for your case.. it is weird.. frm 3% to 38% would take an average of about 30 mins.. for 2 hours it seems weird. esp since apple always highlights their 2 hour fast charge lithium batteries. can you check if you have anything running behind? off all prog?

That takes a long time to charge..Are you charging it with the wall charger or through USB Cable?..

For me,the heat issue is absolutely normal..

EDIT: Try to do a full battery cycle charge for your phone..

i find my ip4 battery usage pretty good...with lots of gaming and surfing. 5-6hrs usage and 20-24hrs standby time. mostly with 3g off though unless require fast connection.

With me always on the move...i bought a Mili backup battery pack. and also a dual usb car charger.

guys, the main problem with battery draining are the apps. some apps will cause that to happen. sometimes reinstalling the apps can help. sometimes you need to delete the app. sometimes its the setting for the app.

best is dont install a bunch of apps but one at a time, to see if it causes any abnormal problem.

no need to turn off 3G, WiFi, etc la, if you turn everything off, then better turn off the phone. But I do off Locations as I dont need it and also I turn off Ask to Join Wifi Networks, and also Notifications as I dont need these.

If you are already suffering from battery drain, all you need to do is Restore as a New Phone using iTunes. Then try that and see if your battery last longer. Then slowly add back the apps maybe one at a time or a few.

You should backup your contacts, calendar, notes etc first using something like Microsoft Outlook or maybe your Windows Address Book.

Photos can be easily backup, just copy the folder onto your PC

The rest of the stuff will be backup by iTunes itself but remember to uncheck the box to sync all the apps. We want to sync one or a few at a time to troubleshoot which app is giving the problem.

One more thing, if your phone is sitting idle doing nothing (especially overnite while you sleep) it should drop no more than 2% for a 7-8 hour period. If more than that, something is eating your battery charges sweat.gif

When you charge through USB connection,It will produce lower amps therefore increasing the charge time, more amps, warmer the battery whilst charging..

Hi guys I may have an issue with my ip4 battery life
but not sure.
Charged at 12.30am unplug from charger 7 am
Started using 7.45 am.
On 3G , was on twitter, Facebook ,watched 2 you tube videos
and checked a few mails
At 8.15 am I am down to 93%
Then 3G on and idle till 9.10 am down to
90%
Always kill all processes after use
Brightness set to half with auto brightness off
I am on latest 4.1
Is this normal or do I need a dreadfull restore??
Please advice friends

I'm guessing it is the iOS4.1's problem, as some of my friends are on iOS4.0.2 are not facing these issues of batt draining, try reading up the Apple dev forum and there are complaints on the iOS4.1 draining the batt fast caused by it's fault with its multi-tasking.

yes iOS4 has multi-task but then it's said that in iOS4.1 screwed up multi-task and it keeps draining juice from the batt.
