staby doesn't meant that it takes battery totaly down... Like usage..it do take but a little a bit..it's something like putting your tv on stanby or pc on stanby...it's on but there are possible some program running at the back...

Just updated to FW 3.13

Going to test how long it can last between a fresh full charged with my 3G on.

I'm starting to get lazy switching on and off the 3G. Just let the 3G on.
*
Hm.. All these awhile, I never turn off my phone 3G and WiFi, so whenver I at home / office the phone will automatically hooked up to the wireless. Right before upgrade to 3.1.3, the battery could last 24 - 36 hrs for me thou.

Bro, look carefully, u may get the clue. smile.gif

Standby Time = Amount of time iPhone has been powered on since its last full charge, including the time the phone has been asleep.

Usage = Amount of time iPhone has been awake and in use since the last full charge. The iPhone is awake when you're on a call, using email, listening to music, browsing the Web, sending and receiving text messages, or when certain background tasks occur such as auto-checking email.

i took my iphone on 4feb. after charge 8hrs, i tried heavy usage with all enable (3G, push, hevy youtube, surfing, gaming). iphone only stand for almost 2hours.

then everything get worst. after full charge, with anything disable (contra with above); hold only 5hours like that. sad.gif

last saturday i try BatteryDoctor app, and wow... it's powerful. come with Last Full Cycle Charge... from 10 am till 4pm only down 10% (remain 90%); with heavy sms, light surfing & YM.

so, Last Full Cycle Charge is what ur iphone need. @_@

ehehhehe

from apple's site :

Use iPhone Regularly
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html

What is Full Charge Cycle :
A charge cycle means using all of the battery’s power, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a single charge. For instance, you could listen to your iPod for a few hours one day, using half its power, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so you may take several days to complete a cycle. Each time you complete a charge cycle, it diminishes battery capacity slightly, but you can put notebook, iPod, and iPhone batteries through many charge cycles before they will only hold 80% of original battery capacity. As with other rechargeable batteries, you may eventually need to replace your battery.

For OS3 the main culprit is the push email, I have notice by turning it off and set to fetch it can improve battery life by more than twice

also set your screen brightness to 1/3 of the slider and set auto brightness on as when you are outside at lease you can see your screen hehehe

I left by bluetooth and wifi on all the time 3g too

so far can last me 1 whole day

I also charge my phone when I got the chance like in car, office just plug it in it won't spoiled the battery.

As someone who frequently travel with my macbook, I found out a way to make my macbook as "portable charger" of my iPhone.

When I'm traveling, I kinda use my iPhone more than usual (GPS, games, listening music, calls/sms etc). So when the battery is low, I just open my macbook, plug my iphone to it and it will start charging.

After it has started charging, I just close my macbook monitor, then my macbook will go to sleep, but at the same time it will still be charging my iPhone.

Then I just left both the devices in my backpack, and my iPhone should be fully-recharged again in less than an hour (i think). While on my macbook's side, it doesn't drain much from my macbook battery (only a bar, i think).

I haven't quantitatively experimenting with it yet, later perhaps. But my question is, if I keep doing that way, would it have any effect on my iPhone and/or on my macbook?

If not, then I believe this method is quite reliable. I don't have to worry about my iPhone's batt when I'm traveling again.

ps: thanks for the suggestion of "Battery Doctor". Definitely more beneficial than the Battery Magic Free i'm using!

It may spoil your mac battery, although mac is sleeping it still runs and by putting it inside the back pack may generate some heat... And li-ion are sensitive to heat... Not such a great idea but can try and if the bat survive do let me know hhehehe
