i just upgrade my iphone on FW 3.0
realise that the battery drain quickly...
so..
can i downgrade to FW 2.2.1?

It makes no difference on old iPhones
the reason why new 3G S are facing short battery lives are because they are new
After using for some time it will be better.

The same thing happens to my iPhone 2G.
And now its standby time is like damn long!

That can't be right. We don't hear many stories of new iPods having problems like that do we? Nor the new Macs. It can't be just because they are new.

if downgrade my iphone 2G to 2.2.1 from 3.0 would it be any problem?

It would be perfect on an iPod or a Mac.
iPhone's overhead is higher as it has the phone functionality.
I can't confirm about this.
But this is what I learnt from my previous iPhone.

When you first get your phone,
Try charging it full and using the battery completely and full charge it again
I saw this in other forums where they call this battery recalibrating
But we shouldn't repeat this method too often,
Just once in a few months.

Leave it since 2.2.1 may not have some features that you need?

2.2.1 and 3.0 doesnt differ a lot in the battery consumption,
Unless push notification is enabled.

No one but yourself know how much have you used in this 8 hours.
If you just make a few calls and SMSs without using any other apps
And you need to recharge after 8 hours then its not okay.

5 days is impossible on my 3G S.

Seriously,
your phone won't even last for a day, if you

- make calls
- SMS
- email
- iPod (1 hour)
- Safari (1 hour)
- read news (NY times, AP mobile, ESPN, Eurosport)
- play games for a while (Bejeweled, Pinball, TTR 2)
- Facebook, Twitter, FML
- Dictionary

I end up with my phone having around 20% every evening.
The same thing happens on my friend's 3GS as well.

same here. batt is horrible.. batt on 3.0.1 for me is pretty bad compared to 3.0. d batt takes a massive hit wen im on IM+ and Text twister. lolz. usage of 6hrs wit 1.2days of standby is d longest d batt lasted. n this is with push, 3g and locations turned off. by nite time ill have around 25% batt.

iPhone's "sleep" mode is dark.

the only time that i could recall a white screen, are the subsequently steps later, of the iPhone going into DFU.

the white screen is certainly not normal.

if all fails, you might have to restore (and then use the backup) unfortunately

I found this at iphone and it work..

Does iPhone appear frozen or stuck? To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. During this time, a red "power off" slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

Want to ask.

Can we charge through laptop?

why not? however the USB port on the computer typically provides an unstable flow of current, and hence the longer charge time.

and there have been some debates previously, as there are known cases, in which dodgy USB ports have fried devices, such as thumbdrives et cetera

Well they aren't exactly unstable just that the USB protocol only permits laptop/PC USB ports to supply up to 500mA at 5V (bus powered). Some are even lower due to the components and power distribution IC used. Unless one's laptop/PC has a powered USB port (self powered, with larger distribution of power) in which they can discharge up to 1000mA at 5V. So assuming you're using a standard USB port, charging at 500mA will take almost 2x as long when compared to using the provided charger/adapter. The adapter supplies up to 1000mA (or 1A) at 5V.

i believe the 'unstable current' meant by nokia is based on cases of iPhone users with faulty comm board due to USB charging whereby the USB port used (which might be faulty) provides unstable current flow thus causing damage to the phone, not the difference in mA between the USB protocol and normal adapter/charger.
