Ricky Ortiz (RU) lost to ShadyK (AK). he really needed to land Ultra opps to catch up and punish AK's low damage. ShadyK played MvC2 with a god-like MSP team (Magneto/Sent/Psylocke), and he looks like a risk-taker in this game, which really pays off (SRK-ing in between Ricky's block-strings.

Sanford (CA) ELIMINATES Dan from Japan (RY)... with absolute BEASTING! It's so beautiful...

Geez, Alvin and Leong Teng I hope you get it streamed alright, again, try the reload button on the player (not the browser button).

Justin mains Rufus and was using him throughout the tournament. He lost to Daigo in the Gamestop torunament and Abel has better chance against Ryu once he gets an Ultra meter. Notice Daigo spaces cautiously and did not churn out fireballs. As an Abel user I am sure you know this better.

rawfish: offed chat but no difference. no worries man i'm sure i can rewatch this at some later point. for now i'll make do with what i have. sigh.. 1 meg line but still cant stream for shit.

brastel: I think it's because Abel has a much better chance getting in through the fireball zoning tactic than Rufus? He has the EX wheel kick and that rolling move to easily close the distance. But yeah that alone can't be enough to warrant counter picking.

I know Abel can fireball through fireballs, true but that alone isnt enough to put him as a counterpick character against Ryu. Ryu still has a lot of advantages/tools to use to shut abel down. Seriously its not even funny.

Boxers/Chun/etc ultra goes through fireballs, so thats a counterpick too?

anyway, Edma vs Daigo!

Added on July 20, 2009, 12:42 pmlol so ive looked up counter picking and i get a few diff definitions. i guess it can be said he counterpicked with abel, all im sayin is its still more favored in Ryu's way..

Ed Ma played a VERY impressive Akuma. He fared well against Daigo but in the end he lost.

Next: Justin Wnog vs ShadyK

Justin climbed up the loser's bracket to fight Daigo again, and again with Abel. Lost, and he then used.... what the... BOXER!!!

Is he really taking advantage of the char matchup tiers???

Ryu Match-up tier (put together by Daigo)
4:6 Disadvantage: Sagat
5:5 Neutral: M.Bison, Balrog, Dhalsim, El Fuerte, Blanka
6:4 Advantage: Akuma, Zangief, C.Viper, E.Honda, Abel, Chun-li, Ken, Guile, Vega, Rufus

Looks like he's taking advantage of Daigo's infamiliarity over Boxer matchups? And so he lost with Boxer. I think Justin really had more tournament experience and should have stuck to his character - Rufus.
