i have done it before a few months ago, if i can remember correctly, you need your snp and IC as well as money for the deposit.
For tenaga, you need to go to the nearest Kedai Tenaga, whereas for Syabas, you need go to their HQ, for people in the KL / PJ, its actually opposite Telekom building in PJ. what is frustrating is, i had to go 2 times to the Syabas office, 1st time is to fill up the form to transfer name, 2nd time is to pay the deposit. They wont allow to do it all in 1 visit as they need to take the meter reading first. |

for TNB you have to go to the Kedai Tenaga which is stated on the bill itself. Also call to confirm whether you have to put a new deposit or whether the old one can be transferred.

bring along your legal document whatever you called it ... not too sure it's SPA because you said the house was from your parents and just transfer to your name. It should go through some lawyer with some legal document. Bring it to TNB andSyabas ... change to your name, that's all. But i think you need to call them and check which branch you need to go?

amandua, i think if the acc is under your name, just go to any TNB outlets, ask for the termination of acc form, fill in, show them your IC, and done.

All you need is to go to the nearest Kedai TNB with a copy of your S&P and IC, get the form. Fill up and done. If the previous owner has terminated their account & TNB has not removed the meter, then connection of supply will be fastThanks |

Of all the utility companies. the most dinosaur one must be TNB
It is a pain to get new service and a pain to disconnect. Have to run to LHDN to get the Stamp Hasil stamped. I dont even know why it needs Stamp Hasil when other utilities dont. You cant close account at just any Kedai TNB but only at your designated one (stated on your statement) Hopefully this requirement checklist helps you. My experience is 1 time settle all.I got a house which is last time my parent name. Not long ago, they have transfer it to my name, but now the TNB and water bill still under my parent name, how to change it to my name? what document should prepare? Thank you very much FYI, is your syabas meter is old type? If yes, i recommend you don't do the name transfer. Cause once u transfer the name, Syabas will come to your house change the meter. The problem is, the F**king new meter run damn fast, monthly bill increase at least 30% to 40%. I do make complaint and they change the other too, but, still the same. So, better do nothing on the Syabas. TNB wont change the meter, so can do it... |

just to add.
After talking to TNB over the phone (can't find it on the website), this is the process to change name : 1) Get application form from TNB's office 2) Get photostated copy of s&p and ic 3) Get 2x RM10 stamp from post office 4) goto LHDN to stamp 5) go BACK to TNB to submit the form * Yes, going to TNB office 2x times! You can also read about this guys agony here : http://www.nst.com.my/opinion/letters-to-t...cedure-1.165394 EDIT : Got this from TNB. Too many variations from different TNB officers. To be updated once a proper picture is obtained.

Which LHDN office did you goto ?The LHDN officer in Kota Damansara said there are 2 options to stamp it : 1) Buy Hasil stamp from post office, then goto LHDN's counter and stamp (LHDN does not sell stamps) 2) Goto LHDN and use the machine to do stamping. The machine only operates in the morning till afternoon. No need to purchase stamp beforehand. Another tip. You need to goto the TNB at where the property address is registered (e.g. if Bangi goto TNB Bangi. Cannot do this in TNB HQ ). |

Sooo troublesome to change name on TNB and Syabas...
Question : What if you just use the existing name? ie. previous owner? Will there be any impact? |

Just went to change the ownership to my name at TNB this morning, I had called the Customer Careline yesterday to double confirm about the Stamp Duty/Setem Hasil, we consumer DO NOT have to pay for stamp duty for AKUJANJI anymore. According to the Careline, they had cancelled it 2 days ago (29th Oct).
But not all the outlets are informed about this, like my case. I went this morning and told the staff exactly what the Careline said but he said don't believe what the Careline said coz they don't know much about this...??!! So i said who should I believe since there are 2 versions of the procedure, so I insist him to find out from their superior and there, the top management confirmed that we don't have to pay stamp duty for AKUNJANJI anymore. But we still have to pay RM10 stamp duty for the change of ownership. So the steps to change the ownership/name: 1) Prepare a photocopy of your IC and a photocopy of your Sales and Purchase Agreement (only important page like names, unit address and signatures) 2) Go to designated TNB Outlet for your premise (call the Careline if you're not sure where) 3) Obtain the form to change name 4) Fill in on the spot and go to the counter to get number to begin the process ** Do prepare money for the deposit/cagaran, RM10 stamp duty for TNB and RM3 processing fee. Remember, insist the staff to find out from their superior if they're not aware of this new procedure. Otherwise, they will send you to get the stamp duty and go to LHDN to sealed the stamp duty before you can go back to TNB to change your name. Hope this help save the trouble of going to TNB TWICE! |

QUOTE(jaylim94 @ Oct 31 2014, 05:33 PM) Most welcome. Just got mine changed recently. Whole process took me less than 10 minutes. Do remember to bring cash of RM240 (deposit) + RM10 (Stamp Duty) + RM3 (Processing Fee). And remember to bring previous TNB Bill to verify on the Account Number. |

Hi everyone.
Thought of sharing my experience yesterday when I went to TNB to change name from old owner to new owner. The TNB branch I went to is at UTC (Puduraya) as there is also an LHDN branch there. 1. Bring photocopy S&P, photocopy IC, and at least one electric bill/statement 2. Fill up form 3. Pay money at counter (This includes the RM10 stamp). It appears that I do not need to go to LHDN to buy the stamp. Everything is done at the counter. Plus points for UTC: opens until late (9pm or 10pm) Minus points: infamous puduraya jam Additional info: After checking the account, the TNB staff told me that the premises is using "commercial tariff" because it was previously registered to a company. If you purchase your property from a company (even though it is a residential property), you can ask them this question and this can save you from paying extra for electricity. Hope this helps. |

If I do not need to obtain a physical copy of the bill then I might save the hassle. This post has been edited by ykshii: Jun 26 2015, 03:15 PM |

I suppose you just bought a property and want to transfer the name from old owner to yourself? If yes, just bring your photocopy S&P to TNB, tell them that you wanted to transfer name because you are the new owner. They will give you a form to fill up, take the a few important pages from your photocopy S&P, and they will print out the electric bill from their system. Note: any outstanding amount from current owner must be settled before they can allow this transfer.I do have a copy of the bill at the moment, but I do have the TNB account number. If I do not need to obtain a physical copy of the bill then I might save the hassle. |

Good day, UTC ( Puduraya ) has both TNB and LHDN?
From what I read on the forum, it states that for change of ownership of electric of subsale house, I can just go to UTC ( Puduraya ) to do this TNB? I heard some of them said something you need to go back to your designated area ? 1) So, from my understanding, nowadays its more convenient, let say my Cheras house, I can also go to UTC? Bring along IC, photocopy IC, S&P, photocopy S&P, previous owner bill ( I ask TNB to print for me can ? ) 2) After this, do I go to buy setem hasil ( or now no need already? ) and go to LHDN to matikan it or smth ( I heard some of the forummers talk about this ) 3) Settle the bill? ( Do we need to pay for outstanding of previous owner? ) If about water bill and indah water, how do we proceed from here? Any place should we go? Thanks for all the reply, in some confused mode right now cause some of the info is quite old and I am not so sure of the validity as for the newer process, thanks a bunch =) |

hi all,
I just sold my house, but the TNB and water bill is under my father's name (already pass away). What document I need to terminate the electric and water and get back the deposit money, before I pass the key to new owner ? |

I was told that once we submit for electric termination (becoz selling house), the TNB will find another day to go to our house to take out the meter. How hassle is that as we need to spare another working day (mon-fri) just to go open the door and let them take the meter ? (meter is inside the house, old house)
Can we let the new owner do the electric account transfer ? I mean I clear the all outstanding balance, then pass on to the new owner (just there is risk new owner did not do the name transfer, and the electric charges is still count on my name). |
