I have seen it in the LCDs, I am not sure if it exists in the plasmas. If it does, leave it off when viewing 24p content.
Is it 'BD wise'? Pardon me on noob question.Panasonic VIERA TH-P50S10K

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Nov 4 2009, 11:28 PM) chewkl, Currently I am using S10 and tried 24p with BD. So far the PQ is fine.I cannot confirm that the S10 does not do 24p correctly. The X10 does not do it too great, from the ones I have seen. AMP is Samsung's own algorithm for image processing, which in my opinion is flawed to 24p. Leave it at off. Might be good for 50Hz sports for LCD. AMP- Auto Motion Plus. It causes dropped/skipped frames when viewing 24p. The refresh rates and algorithms depends on whether u select Low, Mid, High. |

Just realise the 50S10 don't support Deep Colour (10/12-bit), but only support x.v. Colour. Anyone can explain the difference?
The 50S10 also don't support 24p Smooth Film, but can support "24p Playback"....what is the difference? Digital Cinema Colour - No Shades of Gradation 5,120 equivalent steps of gradation Deep Colour (10/12-bit) - No x.v. Colour - Yes |

So that settles it, same as the X10, some sort of pulldown is done and the refresh is most probably at 60Hz. Most people will not realise the difference unless ur are judder susceptible. The 50S10 also don't support 24p Smooth Film, but can support "24p Playback"....what is the difference? Digital Cinema Colour - No Shades of Gradation 5,120 equivalent steps of gradation Deep Colour (10/12-bit) - No x.v. Colour - Yes There is no source of deep colour anyway, however, if the device can do some processing and output 10 bit or 12 bit then if u have a display that is deep colour capable u shd see less banding. The PS3 XMB Menu for instance is 12bit. x.v. Colour is more of a colour gamut (in my opinion unnecessary for HD content viewing anyway) whereas Deep Colour is colour bits (depth). QUOTE(anfieldude @ Nov 4 2009, 11:45 PM) ronaldjoe, boss, while watchin my fast action cartoon on 24p setting out frm wdtv, without cinema smooth the motion judders abit. with it on, it's smooth sailing. but then the color seems to go off abit.. hope not my eyes playin tricks.. Do u have a setting called CinemaSmooth? If u do, turn it on and it refreshes at 96Hz, if it does not look right to u, then turn it off. |
