did you know that Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear and Continental get their SMR 10 and SMR 20 from Malaysia's very own Felda? Mainly from Lurah Bilut Rubber Factory, Pahang.

just went there last Wednesday.. quite a smell smile.gif

Actually there are only 4 rubber factories in malaysia that we can buy SMR10 and SMR20 from. All factories that use rubber will have to buy from them unless they buy from other countries. Many other brands of tires also buy SMR from malaysia. Yes the smell stinks like hell !

Thx for sharing, didn't know anything about SMR before.

@lewatmalam: since you know so much about Farrelli, how does the process to make them compared to branded ones like Michelin and Bridgestone? Is there silica compound added to the tires to improve wet handling and heat resistance?

The process of manufacturing Farrelli Tires are actually the same as FKR, Duro, Dunlop and Michelin which is pneumatic while Bridgestone is using Zero Degree. As for silica compound, all tires actually have this compound, it's the quantity that is mixed into the whole compound that differs. There is a minimal quantity that SIRIM checks for before approving a tire to be deemed safe for road use so if you use tires that are SIRIM approved, you need not worry. Most China and Vietnam tires do not have the minimum quantity needed for a safe ride hence they will not be able to get their tires approved by SIRIM. Furthermore, those tires normally last only 3-4 months maximum. Less Silica, less grip and durability. Ever notice Racing Slick Tires which is like "botak" ? Those tires give you hellalot of grip even when "botak". This is because they use a very high silica compound. Higher silica would also mean more expensive tires as silica isn't cheap.

zero degree tires... hmmm. Googled a bit and got some idea. So, Bridgestone tires are steel belted? The pneumatic ones are nylon belted then?

I was using a dunlop tt900 i think ,for my front wheel , the threads almost ran out (in some areas got less than 1mm groove left) and i almost lost control of my bike , over some slightly wet surface. I'm using a fz150i mad.gif

Anyway , i went to a motorbike repair shop , went and touched some rubber. The shop owner recommended me farrelli , then i was thinking , eh , FERRARI tires ?? XD Pirelli knock offs? shocking.gif

He showed me the tire , it is the F1800 80/90x17 TL tire. I touched it and it was pretty good , slightly softer than my old tires , but i think thats a good thing cause maybe it provides more grip? It has much more grooves/threads anyway , so i just say yes.

Real question here, he put a tube in , so is it really tubeless? Then what is the speed rating for this tire? 130 and above is too much or what?

i paid rm68 for the tire and rm8 for the inner tube.

First and Foremost, i can assure you that if you indeed bought F1800 80/90x17, it is truly a tubeless tire. Does the sidewall have F1800 Silverace written on it ? That is the basic confirmation on whether that tire is a tubeless tire. Are you using sport rims or spoke rims ? We also do have F1800 275x17 which is tube type but some bad ethnics workshops out there will sell them as tubeless. Do let me know where you bought the tires and which shop name if you would like me to check. Our tire speed rating is P which is 150km/h, this means that the tire can withstand the heat generated by a constant speed of 150km/h. If you push your tires above that speed then it is dangerous.

P/S We're certainly not Pirelli knockoffs or any type of knockoffs. In fact, our brand has been in the market for more than 10 years. We're 100% Buatan Malaysia and SIRIM Approved !

That is indeed our Tubeless tire. I'm not sure why would the mechanic put in a tube apart from his inability to inflate the tubeless tire (Some mechanics take too much short cuts so they can't inflate our tires). It's best you go ask him why he install a tube into a tubeless tire which is also fitted into a sport rim.

I agree. I`ve used Farrelli tyre long ago when still with my Kriss. For me, its still the best (non race) tyre for the road. Good grip during wet, too.

But kinda hard to find it at shop nowadays.

Between the F1000 and F1800, other than the apparent tread difference, are they the same material?

What about Michiyama?

F1000 and F1800 is using the same material and composite. Michiyama M280 is using a Racing composite hence it's more expensive and better.

Just change to Maxxis tyre MA-3D 70/90 17. It is very nice tyre but a bit pricey. Maybe the shop that change for me charged very high. Tyre only RM 105 + RM 5 valve. Burn RM 110.

Suppose to look for Farrelli tyre but hard to find. Last bought the F1800 also purposely back to Ipoh to get it. sad.gif
