yes forgot to mention that as well. if i not wrong , any bill is excluded even you pay it somewhere else.

@alexwsk
I did not sure whether it is T&C but I am holding PB card since 2001. This always been the case.

That is why, cash back system of PBB or other banks can't beat Alliance and SCB, who generously give cash rebates to ALL kinds of retail transactions.

Another strong point is that, on top of the cash rebate, Alliance and SCB also give reward points!

MilesAndMore,

If I am not mistaken, a forummer also highlighted the same issue some few weeks ago. I suggest you to lodge a complaint to BNM. Otherwise, there will be more victims in this context.

Yes. Will do. Still don't get why would they charge us annual fee since the cards are still with them and we never activated the card. This is simply outrageous !  mad.gif

You need to browse through this thread. biggrin.gif
It was about AF being charged for an inactivated cc from HLB too.

did your 5k free points got updated in your statement ? I called CS and they said the same thing wait for the next month statement
*
Overseas transactions are given 3x choice points. And the free 5000 choice points for newly approved card is a different thing.

Anyway, the 5000 points and RM50 early bird rebate were shown in my 2nd month statement.

The best card from Standard Chartered is the Titanium Mastercard (JustOne) but unfortunately several fellow users said they have temporary stopped accepting new application for the card.

Not really. Most credit cards rewards points will expire. I believe only Citibank, Maybank credit cards and AMEX credit cards/charge cards rewards points are evergreen. You are losing out on points should you use too many cards.

Regarding the redemption shipping fee we need to foot ourselves when redeeming stuff using reward points accumulated through CIMB Bank credit card. I recently redeemed RM500 Guardian vouchers from them. It's been about 2 weeks now since i got the vouchers and they did not charge the RM9 shipping fee to my credit card account yet.
*
1) It looks like SCB is throwing $$$! Yesterday, an SCB cc agent in a shopping mall tried to persuade me applying for SCB cards. He said SCB will give RM50 or RM100 for every newly approved card.

2) Reward points from Alliance will also never expire.

3) CIMB will definitely charge courier fee for shipment of gift redemption. It will be charged prior to the statement date.

So far,

Direct Access Platinum - a lot of rebates and discounts.
Standard Chartered Visa Infinite - have PriorityPass for unlimited access to worldwide airport lounges.
Alliance Matercard Platinum - low overseas transaction/exchange rate and cash rebates for any transaction. Plus they have great CS.

Still looking though...
*
For me, I feel the best things about SCB VI are the wide travel insurance coverage and access to airport lounges worldwide. Other than these, it is just so so. Until now, my VI still remains 0 transaction, and I may consider cancelling it next year if SCB would charge me AF.

Alliance Plat is good - up to 1.375% cash rebate plus evergreen points (1x point in M'sia and 2x points in overseas) and lowest forex rate. However, the CS staff are not so well trained and sometimes they have no authority/knowlege to give impromptu response.

No such thing. As long as you are qualified and no bad record, I don't think Citi and HSBC will reject you.

I just received my GSC-Eon Bank card. biggrin.gif
Kind of surprised as the bank officer asked me to apply when I did not really want to since my application for a normal Eon card late last year was rejected.
*
When the bank is hungry for business, some get-tough policies can be lifted. biggrin.gif

Anyway, I can see Eon has been continuosly doing rebranding and this is in fact a good start for them.

To have a good record, you must always pay in FULL so that the outstanding balance won't be snowballed.

*
1. Download the application form from internet, or call the bank to fax you the form
2. Send your application complete with necessary documents via fax, or call the bank to collect the documents from your office.

You don't even need to step out of your office. biggrin.gif

Do terminals overseas have this problem?  I'm going travelling soon and SCB JO is one of the major cards I'll be using.
*
I had used my SCB Just1 cc in S’pore, Indonesia and Middle East, and there wasn’t any problem at all. I didn’t even tell the cashiers to select CR.

QUOTE(santaclaus @ Aug 25 2009, 10:16 AM)
does citibank platinum card stil gif us 2x points when spend overseas???
*
Yes, 2x points for overseas transaction.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Aug 25 2009, 12:26 PM)
winner did post about 2 weeks back a comparison for Justone and another card and Justone rate was high. Go search winner post in this thread. For overseas transaction fees, read first post of this thread and if you do have overseas transactions including for online transactions, better you get Alliance card and save some money on those stupid Admin Fees.
*
I just came back from S’pore and had used my Citi and Alliance in the same shopping mall. I will update you guys on the currency conversion rates when the transactions are updated on my e-banking.

QUOTE(Dannyl @ Aug 26 2009, 09:30 AM)
Guys, for SCB JustOne, how do you keep track of the total cash rebates you've received?  Manually by Excel?  There should be a way to keep track since the total allowed is only RM600 per year.
*
I monitored closely my account so that I could enjoy the ultimate rebate benefit. My cumulative rebate reached RM600 after I had spent RM16k. At the same time, the minimum spending requirement for auto waiver of AF has also met.

QUOTE(DarReNz @ Aug 27 2009, 12:54 PM)
just wanna update never use your scb justone to run any transaction at the atm otherwise your card will be retained
*
Were you referring to cash withdrawal from ATM machine? I’ve never experienced any problem when withdrawing cash from my current acc via Just1 card at ATM.

An update on admin fee and foreign currency conversion, for transactions made in S'pore recently. I used my Alliance Plat Visa to pay hotel bill, and Citi Plat Visa for payment in a shopping mall. While my colleague used HLB Plat MC to settle hotel bill. All transactions were done within the same day. The results are as follows:

ALLIANCE VISA - SGD1 = RM2.4769
CITIBANK VISA - SGD1 = RM2.4887
HLB MC - SGD1 = RM2.4879

Using Alliance as a base, the above conversion rates for Citi and HLB represent a higher admin fee of around 0.44%-0.48%. It is not so bad as compared with SCB and HSBC for my previous analysis made 3-4 weeks ago.

I called Alliance a few days ago and was told there are NO overseas administrative charges for their card.

IMO, the biggest possible cause for those variation you posted is currency fluctuation that can change by the minutes.

Did you check what was the bank normal TT or bank draft rate for that day? Are they higher or lower? You can check what was the official Bank Negara indicative rate for the day you used the cards.

http://www.bnm.gov.my/index.php?ch=12&pg=629
*
1. The hotel bills were paid on the same day and same time. So there won't be difference in time.
2. Although you know the TT rate by BNM, it won't help. It's because banks WILL NOT reveal the details of conversion.
3. FYI, I wrote to SCB previously to inquire about the high conversion rate they charged as opposed to other banks. They replied without giving a proper answer and refused to show the breakdown of conversion rate, admin fee by SCB and charges by MC.

Can you please give me the date? From my previous experience, I found in majority of the cases, the MC credit card conversion rate is better than the bank Telex Transfer, Bank Draft and BN posted rate. And it is even better than those online quotation rate on some website or those displayed on Vista Widget.

From what I understand, for overseas transaction, it is MC or VISA doing the conversion and then pass the bill to your bank. And the bank will then add an extra 1 or 2% as administrative charge.

MC or VISA will only use the conversion rate of THE DAY THEY POSTING instead of THE DAY OF TRANSACTION. So there will be differences again. For example, you paid the hotel bill at the same time using 2 different card, Card A & B on 28-Aug.

Card A & B Day of Transaction: 28-Aug
Card A Day of Posting: 28-Aug
Card B Day of Posting: 31-Aug

My 2 sen.
*
ALL the 3 transactions have the same transaction date (25/8/09) and posting date (27/8/09).

Besides that, I went to a money changer to change RM => SGD on 24/8/09. The rate was SGD1 = RM2.475.

QUOTE(santaclaus @ Aug 29 2009, 10:16 AM)
winner thx again for the comparison

as wat i knew , all cc stated the conversion rate is determine by visa / master then the issuer bank only add in their charges ... however my fren said he always use citibank compare to hsbc because the rate are lower .... thts y im asking how is this calculated

based on my fren's n winner's comparison i guess using citibank gif the lowest conversion rate as i dun own alliance nor hlb cards  blush.gif  ... hsbc always charge higher ... might consider scb since their 2% rebate might write-off the extra charges
*
SCB doesn't have a good rate, refering to one of my previous posts below. Alliance has been known giving the BEST rate for overseas transactions.

anyways, btw Any 1 got visited the CIMB Perfect Living??

no 1 mentioned about CIMB perfect living while MBB Treatfair every 1 is mentioned about it.

CIMB really got nothing tht special compared to MBB?
*
I think it's because of wrong timing. Most of the people in KL may have been away for holiday, due to the long weekend and school holiday. Anyway, not much excitement offered by CIMB too.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Aug 30 2009, 05:11 PM)
Yes. Exactly what i meant earlier. Just that in Sabah, TNB is known as SESB (Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd) while Indah Water is known as Jabatan Air Sabah.
*
Eh...just wanna clarify something. IWK deals with sewerage treatment, it has nothing to do with water supply. smile.gif For water supply, the agencies here are SYABAS (KL, Putrajaya and Selangor), PBA (Penang), SAJ (Johor), etc.

Based on my experience, Citibank is the fastest and most efficient in processing cc application. I submitted my application through a branch and received the cc via Poslaju in just 3 days. smile.gif

What we can conclude here, even though new additional card MBB is is approved, the interest rate will set to 17.5%,

i think if I cancel my current card and apply new one, definitely the interest rate will reset to 17.5% and i have to wait another 1 year  shakehead.gif  shakehead.gif

how about other banks, mind to share?
*
If you always ensure full settlement before payment due date, whatever interest rate to you is meaningless. Therefore, I also never bother the interest rate shown in my statement. smile.gif

SC is having 10% cash rebate for retail purchase until 31/10/2009 according to the sms i received. But i received a post card from them on Wednesday and it says the promotion is only until 31/9/2009. Capped at RM100.
*
What promotion is this? I just called SCB yesterday inquiring any other CCs apart from Just1 offering cash rebate. I was informed that besides Just1, SCB Business Plat also give cash back but the rebate rate is only 0.5%. I never heard of the 10% rebate promotion.

Could it be a welcome gift in form of rebate? As far as I know, SCB is throwing money to its new customers - RM100 for Plat cc and RM50 for Gold cc. It is generous compared to other banks.
