QUOTE(chtan @ Sep 24 2009, 11:46 AM) As i have explained earlier 2ms and 5ms is of no different at all cause your LCD only update at 59hz/60hz. And 2 ms in lcd is always bullshit, they use overdrive (cheating) to achieve this..... Not really.... there are at least 2 TN panels monitors (like, Samsung 2233RZ) that goes to true 120Hz refresh rates.... thus requiring DL-DVI bandwidth.b.t.w. a true 120Hz panel only requires a full pixel response of only 8.33 ms. A 5ms GtG panel may be still too slow for a true 120Hz panel (Full pixel response, BTWTB, may exceed 8.33ms). |

Basically, 2ms you need 500hz refresh rate screen. 5ms required 200hz. So, do you think 120hz is fast enough to show the different? Think again.b.t.w. a true 120Hz panel only requires a full pixel response of only 8.33 ms. As long as it is anything above 8ms, there shouldn't be any different. This post has been edited by chtan: Sep 24 2009, 03:06 PM |

GTG rating being adverstised does not correlate with refresh rate that way. When buying LCD, what you should be aware of is it's display lag/delay not respond time. As long as it is anything above 8ms, there shouldn't be any different. 2ms or 5ms GTG hardly qualifies for a full pixel twist and back (which is roughly 2x the GTG rating).. Only TN with 2ms GTG (and roughly @ 5ms BTWTB) is sufficiently fast enough for a true 120Hz, a requirement for nvidia's 3d in which each eye is blocked 60 x/s (60Hz) intermittently. A 5ms GTG panel with roughly 10ms BTWTB full pixel twisting is not fast enough at 120Hz. Delay ... it is the time required for the monitor to process the signal before output... say compared to a CRT. Both CRTs and LCDs have delays.. but even the best quality LCD may have an average 20 to 30ms longer delay than CRTs. The fastest panels (without much processing) may have an average delay in the teens ms (exp: 10 to 15ms), at times the delay is even at 0ms. So, at 120Hz, big difference, as 5ms GTG is incapable. (only 2 TN LCDs now @ true 120Hz)Thats my point. 2ms & 5ms GTG no perceptible difference at 60Hz. (Majority of LCDs, excluding the 2 ^ & a few others) Those are my points. This post has been edited by BeastX: Sep 24 2009, 04:33 PM |
