Post a screenshot here, of what you are talking about. I am confused, what activation code? rclxub.gif

When I created my account there is no such thing as an activation code.

If you're talking about the iTunes Gift Card code, then where did you get the codes from? The codes need to be for the right iTunes Store region. If you purchased the American iTunes Gift card, it can only be redeemed in the American iTunes Store.

Ahh okay. Which region are you creating this iTunes account on? Malaysia? American?

Also, you need to use a different email account for different iTunes account creation. IIANM, during the creation of an account, the system will check if the email account you put in is already used to already create an account with Apple before. Otherwise, the delivery system may be bogged down for some reason, or your email service may be experiencing slowdown from retrieving these verification emails. Most probably the Hotmail clients. tongue.gif

You cant. Just dont use that account and leave it dormant.

You can try it with GMail, I have personally tried creating an iTunes account with GMail email, and it went in straight away, no waiting time, well...other than the need to open up your GMail account and clicking on the verification link.

Other than that, there is nothing else you can do other than wait it out. Good luck! icon_rolleyes.gif

Just wait it out then. Apple's side probably swamped with requests to create accounts.

@gadiylim

If your post is referring to firmware 3.0 downloaded NOT from Apple, you have been reported for asking questions about piracy-related files. Firmware 3.0 is purchase-only and only available from Apple. If you have downloaded and APPLIED to your iPod Touch, you have breached the terms and condition of use of your iPod Touch. I've reported and flagged your post regarding this, since it has been implied that you got the firmware file NOT from Apple but from a different site, for free (leeched illegally) and not paid.

The facebook app seems to hang because it's not a steady released ver. My fb app keeps on crashing on me. I can't even have access to the inbox. (maybe cause of a 3.0 bug)

Try restarting the ipod (:

Thanks. I understand, but it was a beta release that i downloaded to try out what apple developers have made so far. I understand that it's a purchase only os release. I wouldn't mind calling apple to charge me the $9.99 (: I worked for Apple before. I know the drills.

THERE ARE NO BETA 3.0 FIRMWARE FLOATING AROUND FOR FREE, unless you have sign up as an approved Apple iPhone developer and have access to the beta build from within your account login.

No matter how they want to spin it, rename it or insinuate it as, beta or otherwise, those are not legal.

EDIT: If you worked for Apple, your Premium Reseller company would wring their neck dead telling you about the nature of what is approved and what is not. That alone is already the prerequisite. And for someone who had worked for Apple before, you readily accept some third-party shady method to update your iPod Touch, rather than the approved way from Apple AppStore? Were you instilled with the right attitude and frame of mind when you "worked for Apple before"? rolleyes.gif

I know the drills when it comes to purchasing stuff on itunes and appstore (:
Also know that the 3.0 betas are for developers. I so happen to get my hands on one. Am not sure whether the one I got was the correct one I got from my developer friend "to try out". But it encountered an error and proceeded to downloading it.

I did not call for this illegal way of obtaining the 3.0. Neither did I call to make this method available to the public. As far as i know, there could be a loophole in the itunes that I'm using. Argh.. Nvm. Itunes wont allow me to revert back to the 2.2.1 anyway. =.= I guess I'm doomed.

That loophole was plugged by Apple but not before the vulturing folks managed to get their free copy, and that is less than 24hrs after 3.0 was released.

If you got that from your "developer friend" without paying for the USD99 Developer's Kit to allow access to it, both you and your "developer friend" is at fault. The ToC/EULA explicitly mention this is by access of the said proprietor of the account alone, and if abused, may give cause for Apple to revoke his developer license without reimbursement of that USD99.

The point here is, simply put, you did not pay for what you are supposed to. And to that term, to me , that is considered "stealing".At this point in time, there are TONS of reviews, videos, even indepth discussion and description, text or video-based, on what 3.0 can do, and you can easily refer to those articles to make up your mind on whether to pay and upgrade or to stay at 2.2.1. The excuse of "I want to try it first so I pirate" is a thinly veiled excuse at trying to sound and be legit when the whole activity behind it is already breaching the law.

Even if what gadiylim was doing in the first place was wrong, it's not his fault that a bug started the download free for him in his itunes (can't quite remember what the post said, it got deleted, but think it was something like that right?). And if there's no way he can reimburse Apple for the mistake, and he can't revert back to the old OS; then I don't think it's a case of piracy as he did not directly download the file, and claims to have been planning to purchase it. And since he payed for his i-pod, we can assume that he did intend to also pay for his new software.

Look. He got his firmware from his developer friend. Do you know what are the terms and condition that is tied to the developer license for you to use it? One of it is that access to the content within your developer login is explicitly used by the licensee ONLY(meaning his developer friend only and only him), and for testing purposes only. I would also like to think that, since these developers HELP Apple beta-test the firmware build, that they WILL be given access to the final, finished version of the firmware once beta-testing is done. THAT is why the firmware file started downloading on his iTunes, because his firmware file is tied DRM-wise to a developer account signature and allows him to access via iTunes AppStore to get the final build, a.k.a the firmware 3.0 file that HE WAS SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR. The Developer's Kit costs USD99 for these exclusive access, don't tell me they dont get the final firmware build once they themselves have beta-tested it? Think, man think! doh.gif

Also, if Apple can trace back the firmware DRM to his developer friend, imagine what they would do to his developer license? Just because he wants to "try out the OS3.0" without paying.

Again, all of you are trying to justify an already wrongful act. Just because I mistakenly get a Big Mac at McDonald's when I only redeem a free coupon for a Beef Burger, does not make it right for me to gobble down on Big Mac and pretend nothing is wrong. The ethical and the right thing to do is return the Big Mac to the counter, or pay for the extra cost. Don't spin this into "whatever falls off the shelf and nobody's seeing, it is okay to pick it up and put it in my pocket" thing.

With the attitude of freeloading Malaysians these day, I don't see it wrong to assume (as compared to how you have assumed his innocence) that "free is free, as long as it downloads for me" attitude is prevalent here. Have you not seen how many posts and threads DavidGary has deleted, invisibled and moderated in regards to piracy, and illegal acts of downloading here? And you still want me to assume the best for all the things happening around this part of the forum? rolleyes.gif

Unless he can prove me otherwise, or does his purchase legitmately, I stand by my statement. And I give people props and praise for their good work and good deeds as well, those who earned it, deserved it. The opposite goes to the "freeloaders".
