Nice to see the system works here in terms of curbing piracy. "Vacation" to the members who advocate them, and punishment applied immediately. thumbup.gif

If you download without pay, then it is illegal. Apple don't "leak" their files, when they deserve to get paid for their hardwork. The typical mindset of Malaysians of " if it is out there for download it must be free" is still pervasive I see. Apple's 3.0 software is explicitly tagged as purchased for USD9.99, so if anyone gets it for other than that, you know what you're dealing with. And trust me, some of us are watching your posts intently profiling you to see if you're an "accidental/unintentional" pirate or a fullblown "hardy har har" one-eyed pegleg with no law-abiding sense whatsoever.

Apple DID 'leak' the OS 3.0
When you plugged your ipod touch into your computer, a message pop out with 3 options- cancel, download and install, download only. Just like how you upgrade iPhone OS 3.0
But this only happened for very short time, and Apple quickly fixed it. If you are lucky enough, you get it for free
*
Well, if that is the case, then consider this: is he honest enough not to let others take advantage of his luck by asking him to pass the firmware IPSW file to them so they can upgrade their iPod Touch for free, bypassing Apple? Im not trying to pass judgment on him, but when it comes to that situation, I hope he makes the right decision.

Well, you have the option to NOT to download. Wait it out, read the reviews and judge for yourself to see if it is worthwhile downloading for USD9.99. If it isn't, then don't update. Nobody is forcing anyone here. But if the game devs starts moving to 3.0 because of its other features like Peer-to-peer bluetooth gaming, then...........

Actually, the games that are not listed as "Tested on iPhone 3.0" still works. It is just a matter of a "seal of compliance" to see that it has that listed in. I tried Let's Golf and other games as well while it not 3.0 approved and they still run.

IF you mean future games that uses 3.0 features like P2P Bluetooth head-to-head, then I agree wholeheartedly with you. biggrin.gif

Weird. Most if not all the apps, even when they are not pegged with "Tested with 3.0", will work. Unless you did not sync them in legally or using cracked apps. People have been getting vacation for that recently, so.......whistling.gif

Singapore iTunes store has it. Use your card the same way you would use it in Malaysian iTunes.

Check if you have done anything to disable the iTunesHelper process before this. IIANM, that process is required to enable iPod/iPhone detection and autostarting the aapropriate app which is iTunes.

Added on July 5, 2009, 9:38 pmAlternatively, also make sure that the "Automatically open/launch iTunes when this iPod is connected" check box is ticked. That check box is inside your iPod page when it is connected with iTunes.

QUOTE(Kazuhito @ Jul 6 2009, 01:49 PM)
hi guys...
i just bought myself an iPod Touch 2Gen 8GB from machines (Sunway Pyramid)..

my question is..
because it's just 2 days old, and I couldnt utilized the iPod to d maximum level because lack of funding, is it wise for me 2 jailbreak it?..

and how in the world can i download the free apps from iTunes without reviewing my Apple Account? (coz they need my credit card details etc2..)
*
I'll be watching this closely, because you seems to be implying that jailbreaking it means you can get apps for free. There are free apps on Cydia repos, but jailbreaking should not be linked to how the PSP is modded to play pirated games, they are not. Legal jailbreakers use jailbreaking to tap into the system to change the outlook of the iPod Touch or to add functionalities, NOT to installed cracked apps.

You can download free apps on the iTunes AppStore by clicking "Buy" on the free app, and if you have not registered an account, go through the registering process. When the process ask for payment method, since it is free, you will have the option of not inserting any credit card details to create your new account. Process complete, you have your free app on iTunes AppStore.

Since you have created an account already, why dont you put in the credit card details? Make sure all the details are exactly as per the details you put in during your credit card application.

Otherwise, use this link:-

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

to create another account, and use that account to get free apps from AppStore. It does not matter which region you choose to create this account, but it is advisable to do it in the American iTunes AppStore, because the free contents are much more extensive. However, if you do choose to purchase apps from the American AppStore, you need American iTunes Gift Card. The Malaysian iTunes AppStore will take any Malaysian-based credit cards, so that may be easier for those here.

I myself have only one, the American iTunes account. More relevant content for me, and I have my own way of purchasing credit for the American iTunes content.

The activation of your iTunes account should be instantaneous. You should be able to make use of the account privileges already.

stringfellow, u said u hv ur own way of getting credit for ur a/c...Mind to share? XD

I have a US a/c bt no money edi! Still a student so CC is nt an option.

Thx~
*
1. Family in States, buy iTunes credit, send code to me via email or IM
2. Friends here with a US-based CC, they purchase iTunes gift card, they send code to me via email, PM, SMS or IM
3. Reputable iTunes gift Card sellers on eBay. Make sure the price to pay is NEVER less than 70% of the card value, else it is suspect, and the code may be generated.

There used to be a few reputable online gift card websites that sells you the codes after you pay them, but they too have their card code inventories contaminated with fake, generated card codes sold to them by these cracker idiots. They had to shut down, do reparative damage control before anyone would trust them anymore.

If it is up to me, then no problems. It is that it is up to THEM to decide if they wanna do it. I have someone over in this forum who may be able to help you, but I don't wanna look like I'm selling his name around for this. He may not like it that way.

Hang on a minute, what is this again? What reply are you waiting? The activation of your iTunes account is instantaneous, there is no wait.

Post a screenshot here, of what you are talking about. I am confused, what activation code? rclxub.gif

When I created my account there is no such thing as an activation code.

If you're talking about the iTunes Gift Card code, then where did you get the codes from? The codes need to be for the right iTunes Store region. If you purchased the American iTunes Gift card, it can only be redeemed in the American iTunes Store.

Ahh okay. Which region are you creating this iTunes account on? Malaysia? American?

Also, you need to use a different email account for different iTunes account creation. IIANM, during the creation of an account, the system will check if the email account you put in is already used to already create an account with Apple before. Otherwise, the delivery system may be bogged down for some reason, or your email service may be experiencing slowdown from retrieving these verification emails. Most probably the Hotmail clients. tongue.gif

American. On Yahoo Mail.
the previous account is on Hotmail.

and how can i cancel my account created using Hotmail as i cant verify it using my credit card..
*
You cant. Just dont use that account and leave it dormant.

You can try it with GMail, I have personally tried creating an iTunes account with GMail email, and it went in straight away, no waiting time, well...other than the need to open up your GMail account and clicking on the verification link.

Other than that, there is nothing else you can do other than wait it out. Good luck! icon_rolleyes.gif

Just wait it out then. Apple's side probably swamped with requests to create accounts.

@gadiylim

If your post is referring to firmware 3.0 downloaded NOT from Apple, you have been reported for asking questions about piracy-related files. Firmware 3.0 is purchase-only and only available from Apple. If you have downloaded and APPLIED to your iPod Touch, you have breached the terms and condition of use of your iPod Touch. I've reported and flagged your post regarding this, since it has been implied that you got the firmware file NOT from Apple but from a different site, for free (leeched illegally) and not paid.
