I've tried running 720p video on both notebook, 4530 hanged after 4 hours+, 4736Z still running smoothly on the 8th hour. I allready bought it .My old laptop lenovo (keep sometimes restart itself.Don't even have either what happen).Nobody knew about warranty on lenovo brand.I have lot of friend trouble on hp laptop(high end price,medium price and also low end price).For currenty i buy this because of warranty only add 100+.First thinking back sl400 and when i check back warranty price 1k.Wau?So i 'm using the worst brand before .
For statistic Adobe Software : 1.Adobe Photoshop(No lag). 2.Adobe Dreamweaver CS3,CS4(Fine no quirck) ** i used adobe premium (legal).I before used pirated software.A bit quirk on software dough.Sometimes slow and eat lot of ram. Audio 1.Dobly sound Speaker.Only good when you high volume and and have to click and the icon.Per default is not click Games : 1.I just play dota. ** For advance gaming, buy a pc lor.Even if you buy high end laptop just diffrent was graphic card with the same specfication.Don't waste the money.1k add on can buy you 1 pc good for game .(Before see 900 ringgit acer pc). |

Centrino is a platform laid down by Intel for maximum compatibility and efficiency among the kry hardware of a laptop...

I just got this exact model last Saturday (T6400)..using it and pretty happy owning this...Start-up using Windows7 evaluation copy pretty fast..infact boot-up abit faster than my house desktop running on IntelE7200....
I suspect the speed is due to the DDR3 compare wth my desktop DDR2 PC...Vista score suprisingly high except the Windows aero score of 3.7 ...The Intel X4500 GC is not so good but better than the older X3100..Nevertheless the battery lif is a shock to me!! Under power saver & low screen reso, it can last 4.5 hours!!  Here is my score (BTW, my package inc free upgrade to 3GB...not really free-lah when u get it at RM2099 instead of RM1999 in LYN )

Yeah the DDR3 probably the answer why the boot up & start-up time super fast. Check again y'day & confirmed startup faster than Home desktop PC (E7200-2.53Ghz C2D)..haizz.. now thinking of how to make my home PC faster booting than my notebook!
BTW, any idea where can I get Acer Arcade Deluxe because this model is freedos, thus, they dun bundle wth Acer arcade deluxe capable of blue-ray playback?? I try download from http://komku.blogspot.com/2008/05/download...or-windows.html but all the downloads failed... Another thing....how to increrase the LCD screen reso once hook-up via HDMI to LCD TV?..really cacat...LCD screen 1/2 of the usual reso!!...I will try to google while waiting for some expert here.. Blue Ray Play Back
1.4736 don't have blue ray player.They just supply with dvd player.You might try download torrent blue ray to test it out but quite large.5 to 8gb one story.The playback suppose come from intel GMA4500mhd .MHD mean movie high definition playback(asume). Acer Arcade Deluxe. 1.I try to search in the cd also unfounded.By the way.This software is uselesss.just download codec and used microsoft media player to play movie. HDMI to lcd tv 1.Sorry,i don't have lcd tv.When i hooked up vga to my lcd screen.Seem fine for dual screen setup.Original 4736 was 1366 * 786.Wide screen consept.I used of 1280 * 1024.A bit weird come to this 786 height.You might to identified using intel application to resize the lcd tv.Try to set 1280 * 1024 or 1280 * 800. Battery 1.Seem the icon left size keyboard on.When i used lenovo,it had special software to manage the battery.For this acer i don't find one.Itry to download other series acer software for power management.Can be installed to 4736 but the information is useless.What really i wanted to know is how much left battery cycle left(Mac have). Startup 1.My Old server using Pentium D 3ghz + 2gb corsair ram.4736 boot up faster.My 4736 using windows 7 and server using windows xp.do no 6ghz was slow?Intel should stop making weird processor while performance very bad.If Quad Core ?2ghz * 4=8ghz.What suppose a speed must? |

On blue ray, I probably dl gompalyer..was told it has blue ray codec..  ..Still trying google hard on setting the LCD TV screen monitor...lotsa ppl having similar issue but so far no real good explanation on how to adjust...those guy just say adjust manaully but How? 1.Intel website haved automatic update for their gma card.Only available for xp and vista.For windows 7 please use windows update.
2.If GMA MHD is right as told.You didn't required codec to playback the blue ray file. 3.Projector?Click left at your desktop.You see graphic properties.There you can change the setting of lcd monitor.Either you can set extend or dual mode.If extends.Your screen more larger.If dual mode.both are equal.To me set as extends.Drag your media player to the lcd monitor.Resize the lcd to your best lcd monitor setting.May i know how much inch your lcd screen.My second lcd monitor was 17 inchi samsung.I used 1280 * 1024.Not a problem to said. |

use Vista driver for Win7... they'll work without any problems...
yes, GMA X4500MHD has the codec to play BD, but u still need a player that can takes advantage of the codec, then u'll ve hardware acceleration... iirc not many players support GMA like in GeForce and Radeon... DDR3 won't give u a significant performance boost... as can see from the WEI score, my laptop has a higher RAM score than urs, and i am using DDR2 800MHz with T9550 (1066MHz FSB)... the bottleneck is at the FSB it self... if it's not raised, even if ur RAM runs at 100GHz, it's still limited by the FSB... |

Yes,it more slower then your 's laptop.4736 only 800 mhz fsb.It's just enough to do high work load.Can you post your everest ultimark ram benchmark to see the diffirences.

The ATI card in your setup really bring-up the score..Noted that the high RAM probably on the 2GBX2 u having compare to mine (1GB -Acer ori DDR3 ram + 2GB Kingston DDR3) ?....That's a nais hi-end notebook u hv

RAM wise, i doubt dual channel plays a major role here since for ur setup, u still ve 2GB at dual channel mode...
i will contribute the difference in RAM speed to be the FSB... |

Thanks for info.For me average 3 years i tend to buy pc or laptop.So cheapest laptop is enough to me.For gaming,before i got ps2 so now quite bored for gaming purpose.This laptop much for work only.I think not worth to bought high end laptop since spec drop down fast.
2 laptop 1 pc.Enough lor .hehehhee.maybe on 2013.Next laptop.Quad Core at that time with the price of 2k. |

Just to inform that I hv succesfully enabled Blue-ray playback using k-lite codec, & also managed to tweak the screen reso of my LCD TV...
The only problem now is playing certain blue-ray & even DVDrip movies, the right channel speaker (the speech) having very low sound & thus inbalances..meaning hearing all the effect & music on one side & on another side no or minimal sound on conversation...haizz...still tweaking... |

There are three hole at the left site of laptop.put av convertor to first hole of the laptop to your amp.If you had no sound suround system.Use stereo instead of dolbly surround system.It feealing weird on surround sound.

it's the OS problem... 32-bit OS theoratically can read 4GB RAM max, but some space is reserved as resources for I/O, thus max u can get is abt 3.25GB only...
switching to 64-bit OS will solve the problem... |

Don't lor.most software doesn't support for 64.Use 32 bit instead.My client had weird problem on 64 bit red hat(itanium proc).I rather do testing in 32 bit enviroment rathe then use 64 bit os.core 2 duo just have instruction 64 not real 64 bit proc.Real proc is itanium 64 bit.Xeon also 64 bit instruction.

erm... Itanium is not a x86 CPU...
u can't compare liddat...i ve been using Vista x64 for close to 2yrs, and no, it works flawlessly, even more stable than Vista x86... all the games an apps run withlout any hiccups at all... MS did a good job in virtualizing 32-bit environment in Vista x64... Added on June 19, 2009, 12:31 pmand all the while AMD only say it's x86-64 extension makes x86 CPU to be 64-bit compatible.... the architecture is still x86... Added on June 20, 2009, 9:56 amI found the solution to the weird sound output from blue ray movie..I din install DTS & AC3 filter...Another DTS/AC3 filter installed & now I can play & hear the Dolby stereo 5.1 sound now...yeah..enjoying HD blue ray Transformer y'day...yeah... The RM1999 is without Windows O/S, anyway Vista is super slow..just buy freedos & install super fast WIN7 RC version
The RM1999 stall is in front of Maxis ctr on ground floor..I got mine from upstair store at RM2099 ..& i tradde all the freebies wth one additional 2GB DDR3 RAm. much better than all the freebies they offered..such as Optical mouse, headset & mouse pad & etc. The laptop bag is a standard gift..& not a gift! If u dun want mouse & headset, they give u RM100 discount.The vista rating on intel graphic on aero is pretty low at 3.7 but on gaming pretty high at 4.9..so not bad for gaming..startup time is super fast for this machine...much faster than my Desktop running on intel E7200! BTW, for graphic card, there is another rare version 4736g...but I think it will affect your battery life wth GC. T4200 is also 45nm la... but the 1MB L2 is really a big turn off...
performance gain from 1MB L2 to 2MB is actually quite a big leap... considering Vista and Win7 is "heavy" (compared to XP), more cache is still beneficial... |

all i can say there's quite a lot of anomalies in the list...
cache doesn't seem to be part of the tests... CPU with higher FSB actually loses out to those with lower FSB, while other factors (clock, cache) being constant... worse case is, a higher spec CPU gets beaten by a lower spec one... (look at C2D E7600 ranked 96 and 3 ranks above it, PDC E5400...) yes, the CPU (especially the desktop ones) could ve been overclocked, but there's no mention of it in the list... i can't call this accurate ranking... for normal people ,bluetooth,express card,hdmi,esata are not nessary.Some technologies to fast upgrade and change to new spec.
Transfer Picture. Just pull out memory card to memory reader.more faster then bluetooh suppose. Clock Speed There are diffirences wi th core 2 duo and dual core. Dual Core 1.7Ghz Total speed :1.7 Core 2 dua 1.7 Total Speed : 3.4 ghz I do large calculation and i need speed.The most lagging now are hardisk itself not ram or clock speed.7 are the most worst on input output hardisk. |

dual core does not mean twice the speed of a sigle core...
it juz means 2 cores each running at 1.7GHz... if the app is not optimized for dual core, it will run on only 1 of the avaliable core at 1.7GHz... if it's optimized, then theoratically u can get twice the performance, running 2 threads at 1.7GHz at the same time... but do take note that in real world, max performance gai of dual core compared to single core is at most 70% only... |

Nah..I dun buy those supercare thingy neither...I'm haviong problem wth powersaver button tooi as Win7 cannot install,. however wth the Win7 compartable option, it allow me to install it easily. Vista & XP should not hv any problem-leh only Win7

The purpose it just dim down lcd to save battery and check if the battery was 100%,it wouldn't charged more(thinkpad series stick with 90% then of recharge).Windows also have power saving mode.Example below are energy saving using windows 7.

I'm lagi kiasu..in addition to the power saver & also low power setting, I go and dim till the minimum...yeah at this setting..can get >5hr!!...din really confirm cos..switch on & off during lunch time...will try possibility of touching 6hr...

try not using charger and used battery and see how long like stimiz does.I test 4 hour and stimiz test 5 hours++.My old lenovo 3000 y400 only can manage 2 hours + when bought new.So figure out yourself lor.Work or not.

No it's just a general cover..it's covered the keyboard alright but it will covered 1/4 of the touchpad area & 1/2 covering those power mgt/BT & wifi buttons

Wow. I just buy a new one. It cost me almost 2200 include 3 year of warranty. No free UPDATE RAM but got free gift.LOL.

err, PC Fair coming in 2.5 weeks times
try to shop at Lowyat, 2nd Floor, Co...-z... , I got pretty good offer there, my opinion, add on 2GB Ram (total 3GB ram), Supercare 1 = 2068myr with CC, last week. i like this laptop price..
procescor that come with intel centrino battery life...wow amazing.. I dont like is the keyboard...the keyboard can see a lot of line... got hole at the keyboard there. Not like other keyboard... The keyboard make me until like...no modd want to buy this model.. |

i've tested...with only surfing the net with Acer Aspire 4736, can last for about 3~4 hours (with minimum setting)

since the processor is T variant, i'll say 3 ~ 3.5 hours. but you prolly can stretch it up to 4 hours at lowest lvl brightness maybe.

The 5 hrs + is realy on the lowest LCD brightmess & also not 100% online or working. (menaing sometime the LCD goes on sleep mode after few min idling...avg if really without idling..I can say is ~4hr +

i got my acer 4736 too..with window vista premium..anyone knows how to format ? i wanna format and do one more partition because my original came only with C drive..is it format with the 2 backup cd that required to burn? if i format it..then where is the original copy of window?

I wonder my lappy got problem . So far i seldom use this lappy yet. Because i saw my friend's 4936 is in black screen all the while. |

the best value to performance lappy they give 800mhz 4gb DDR2 ram in the package no need to upgrade anymore  plus free 3 year warranty at RM2200 still where you can get a 2K lappy with a decent GC |

at the battery lifespan...avg 4hrs... Only Rm2299 I bought one Acer 4736G today for my brother and im charging it for 8 hours, just to be on the safe side. I initially was targeting Asus K40I but it was priced at RM2599 with no OS in it and as you all know its spec is very close to 4736G (90% similar spec almost same weight) and has 2 or 3 year warranty if im not mistaken and it runs on 4gig ddr3 RAM's. On top of that i had another candidate which i helped my fren buy last 2 weeks plus ago is the Dell Studio 15 and yea its whooping RM2699 but it comes with 15"~ monitor and the winner that makes it fat in price is the ATI 4570 512Mb gpu, and vista home basic plus 2 year warranty so its too far from my budget but still i can afford it. But when i went back today to check the Dell price its now worth Rm2799 then i like WTF i ask y increment extra they sales guy mentioned its the new stock... LOLx.Truthfully i am very skeptical with acer and will not buy acer laptop as we all know the white screen display and hardware issues because i do troubleshoot and PC repair however today i bought one. Y u ask its because it has the best spec + performance with HOT CAKE price on top of that I received strong recommendation of its quality .So yeah i will let u guys know how is it doing in the meanwhile pls let me know is my decision to buy this laptop is ok or bad. u could ve considered Asus K40Ab if u prefer to play games... Athlon x2 with HD4570 for lowest i see, rm1899 with freedos... but i guess, most ppl will prefer to stick with Intel... |

But with a different type of processor higher actually Malaysia have only DDR2 ram module for the 4736G. which I think appropriate with the T6500 fsb . This lappy is lower end model for the 4736G. |

Perfomance wise, DDR2 and DDR3 no difference, but with DDR3 RAM, you can get extra battery life out of your laptop.
Acer always change/alter specs for their laptop lineup, hard to catch up. |

haha yesterday i went to Selayang Mall and i saw a 4736 with 350GB hard,4GB ddr3,core 2 duo 2.0ghz(T6500) and nvidia graphic 512mb,pre-installed vista home basic,USB hub,optical mouse,cooling pad,bag .it cost Rm2399.....izzit worth to buy it? hmmmm...the seller said there is no included windows installation cd wor.....he said orginal is not included de....is just pre-installed oni....planning to get one 4736/4736z this week.....^^

Why acer come out with such UN-USER FRIENDLY model. No acer empowering technology(lots of shortcut access), network and volume is disable from system tray(i have to go network property to find wireless router etc), LCD over bright, the minumum is 0 unlike my 4930 series can negative brightness(uncopmfortable brightness and color, cheapo LCD?). My 4930 look more confortable for long term usage and more user friendly interm shortcut access.

LCD brightness is fine for me at lower level, maybe the uncomfortable just for you
So far the laptop can handle l4d and sims3 with not much problem, just lower down the effect and you can play. |

Maybe i used to the 4930 LCD. It is more comfortable compare this harsh one. Acer empowering is a good utility but it is not there especially they disable the network and volume from system tray make me un-easy. Performance i have no complain.

4736z is using ddr3 if not mistaken, performance wise probably not much, not sure thou
any software you guys used to monitor the temperature, i've tried speedfan, coretemp, and realtemp; but all of them will not update the temperature, it just stuck there and never change. |

No acer empowering technology(lots of shortcut access), network and volume is disable from system tray(i have to go network property to find wireless router etc), LCD over bright, the minumum is 0 unlike my 4930 series can negative brightness(uncopmfortable brightness and color, cheapo LCD?). My 4930 look more confortable for long term usage and more user friendly interm shortcut access. Some said that the crappy toolbar slowing down their boot. Network and volume disabled from systray..? thats strange. None of the previous models had that done on them.I have no complain on the performance. Btw, i just bought this 4736G. haha saturday i just bought a 4736G with card reader,mouse,cooling pad,usb hub,headphone ^^ i bought RM2399..... this com damm nice~ i like it so much.....with Nvidia Geforce supported i can play Dragonicle smoothly~ and TheSim3^^ i like it!!! but.....very dissapointed....cause it is DDR2 ram....not DDR3T_T but anyway~ overall quite nice~ ^^ hmmm....can i know....i can change the Ram from DDR2 to DDR3? hiek hiek.....

Just now i check with CPUZ, it show me my processor name is T8100, but the specification is T6500. Feel weird about this. Any1 get the CPUZ result name as mine? |

This laptop 1.Accidentially drop -Yes.Hardisk fine. 2.The fan tablke outer drop on keyboard.Still working fine. 3. 4 hours duration battery. Conclusion.It's a tough notebook. |

i juz encountered a dead pixel in my 4736G. so since i bot it less than a week i called up the dealer, but dealer asked me to call acer. ok, so i called acer this morning. guess what, they told me i need at least 4 dead pixel to claim warranty! what the 'ell, somemore they told me the 'ISO' standard for LCD screen can have up to 7 dead pixel..Wow..ok, so i told them that i bot the lappy less than 7 days with a faulty screen, and u want me to wait until it appear 3 more D.P. only u will change? by the time it got 3 more D.P. my warranty will probably ended -.- so after hearing my ranting, they passed the case to their manager and promised to call back... let u guys know the result later... |

Astria had mention before Acer would stop ddr3 production and stall back to the older version ddr2.

for my labtop, when start up. most of the time the window will say tat my antivirus nt working..
wat is the problem? i hv install solidwork & when i start the program, the same problem appear, its say solidwork is stop working and shut down the program.. can teach me how to solve the problem? |

when the windows say it is nt working, then the antivirus cannot scan or do any other task.. but it stil appear at the right corner lar.. duno y.. |

anyone have the problem with their 4736G when opening the lid the screen will flicker few times?
sometimes it will also change to lower resolution after i open the lid. need to restart in order to solve it... anyone else experiencing this ? |

For Sound.I got 1 cd metallica ochestra DOLBY something(Original DVD).When i heard either Xp Or 7.Still The sound weird and slow.The best only head when wearing headphone or external speaker.Sometimes stereo more better then aucastic sound.Hard to said about sound.

nope.Either it was connection or dvd rom issue.There are two type of dvd i found,the pirate one are lighter weight cd while the original dvd quite heavy one.The pirate one easily unreadable/broken after a few times used.I hardly fine good one dvd one or cd for backup purpose.I rarely used dvd anymore.

my friend just brought another 4736G yesterday at LYP, when collect the laptop i notice the unit don't have the windows sticker at the bottom, while my 4735G have the sticker at bottom.The OS is vista home premium. I asked why and the sales said all new unit also without the windows sticker. Is it true?

For acer 4736 n model,i succesfull update the bios from 1.05 to 1.07.The readme don't give explnation update for what. Weird for acer.

Hey, just bought a 4736G recently.
Loving it so far, haven't tried anything major (gonna get Windows 7 soon). Quick question... how do I make sure my ram speed is correct? Looking on CPU-Z / HwInFo I see 333 Mhz Samsung. This is really not what I was told! I was told 800 / 667 Mhz. Also, unfortunately the BIOS doesn't show the clock speed. Should I go back to the retailer and get the 800 Mhz RAM? Thanks in advance! |

cpuz show 4096mb, System show 4GB, Task manager physical memory (MB),Total 3069 I suggest you take back to the place you brought the laptop. Maybe one of the ram is not fit in nicely so it's not detected. Or the worse, the shop cheated you with less 2GB ram. |

I used the nvidia GC temp sidebar, the core temp just 50c after around 45min of playing NFS...ermmmm, I thought alredy 80c something, surprisingly just 50c..

you can download latest nvidia from www.laptopvideo2go.com

yesterday my friend borrow me a pirate windows 7 and i tried to upgrade it.....but dont know why after finished installed......restarted...and stuck at "Error loading Operation System" T_T i dont know Windows got warrenty or not ^^ im currently using 4736G.....very very regret why i so stupid go update pirate windwos7 T_T if the windows got warrenty^^ tomorrow i call acer see seeT_T btw....update BIOS is just download from acer website and install can liao?i scare broke my comT_T

Have you try to install with 'ah em' vista home premium but use the register key that you have under your 4736G windows sticker? You can find the sticker at the bottom. But some of you might have no windows sticker just like my friend's 4736G. I also wonder why no sticker on it. |

I follow my friend when he buy the unit. I asked the shop but they just say it come with no sticker zzz. We buy it at Low Yat Plaza.
How can they sell the sticker with my friend's vista key on it? Mean others ppl who brought the sticker might using the same key also? |

Once you verified ,its okay.But if bsa come,where's your sticker coa?Cannot answer lor.My first laptop(lenovo) i used windows xp pro(separate buy).One day the hard disk broken and i change new one.They gave me new coa?where come from ,i don't know.
