QUOTE(KittyKat @ Jul 14 2009, 12:39 PM) In some sense yes, but in some other sense, not really leh. The AF isnt that perky, especially under poor lighting, IMHO lar... wah, if E-P1 AF is as good or better than LX3, then E-P1 is good enough for casual shooter who demandTried the E-P1 yesterday also, quite impressed with it. AF quite fast, completely usable up to ISO1600 if not pixel peeping. Operation's quite slow though and not very used to its interface. But one thing's that the silver body very "bling-bling" leh. Mnayak action one if found using it. control, IQ and DOF. |

Anyway, a lot of good thing being said about E-P1: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat...thread=32394350 But I think a lot of people not jumping in because its quite pricey and most of the people who wants a dSLR still think only Canikon can produce great IQ. |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 15 2009, 01:47 PM) Thanks. I can finally say I've found the lowest denominator in the human evolution cycle. Simply put, he's an idiot. I think he is just joking. He really wants to buy E-P1. But other side of him tell him not. So he try to findreason not to buy E-P1. QUOTE(hellfire8888 @ Jul 15 2009, 02:07 PM) would you please clarify your statement? most noob here would not know the real con of this PEN and i just share those info..so what the matter with that? unless u are not smart enuff to diff between fact n fiction between those line from my blog. I think he thought the blog is someone else. If he know its ur blog, I'm sure he won't comment is that way...Cool guys.... E-P1 is just a camera... Added on July 15, 2009, 2:21 pm QUOTE(seaotter @ Jul 15 2009, 01:41 PM) You should read dpreview for the leica lenses info dream means what? Its good or bad? Hehe.. I can read it as "dream on la if you want to manual focus with E-P1".http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1041 Because i have read people using zeiss, leica, volt, nikon AND canon lenses on the E-P1. Manual focus apaprently is a dream on the e-p1 But for so many thread I read, Manual Focus is one of the best out there for E-P1. This post has been edited by gogo2: Jul 15 2009, 02:21 PM |

I've changed the title to Olympus E-P1 and Panasonic mFT user at the request of Harrychoo and also the fact that dpreview did the same due to avalanche of E-P1 thread in Olympus FT forum.
Any new user for any mFT can PM to add in to user database |

QUOTE(ZhaoYun @ Jul 29 2009, 12:10 AM) Fully agree. EP-1 as a backup maybe, but no way it is going to fully replace a DSLR. With a lens of f/3.5, you lose the bokeh and control of DOP. As you are a d700 user, I don't get why you said lens of f/3.5 blah blah blah. You know E-P1 lens is interchangeable right? AndPanasonic is coming out with 20mm f/1.7. The only reason I can think of why E-P1 is not able to fully replace dSLR yet, is because the speed and some people like to use OVF. Besides that, I think every other feature of E-P1 is same as lowest end dSLR. Of course its not comparable to D700. |

QUOTE(davidmak @ Jul 29 2009, 08:57 AM) wah, are you saying ZhaoYun's Nikon D700 - Nikkor 24-85 f/2.8-4D, Nikkor 70-200 F/2.8 AF-Scannot have bokeh and DOP? Anyway, E-P1 kitlens have f/2.8 la. I think the 17mm is f/2.8. is equivalent to D700 due to E-P1 having f/2.8 as ZhaoYun's D700???? This is E-P1 bokeh with kitlens 17mm f/2.8: ![]() This post has been edited by gogo2: Jul 29 2009, 11:44 AM |

QUOTE(davidmak @ Jul 29 2009, 01:11 PM) I mean some... some... hehehe Walaoyeh. Just now say ZhaoYun's f/2.8 cannot get bokeh. Now you his concern about bokeh is very amateur... The people I know, thinks 2.8 is not blur enough unless you try hard. Like how the picture you show is focused close while background is far far away. Its easy to get a blur background. But the degree of blur is very subjective. Some go to extends of F1.2. You get what I mean? But bokeh should not be the only thing we should strive for. Not everything must be blur. That is not the only thing in photography. Thats very amateur. Anyone with such a lens can produce such an effect. Proper use of bokeh requires creativity and the use of right equipment. Now that is a difference. Cham lor you. Later he come back shoot you liao Anyway, the example of bokeh I give is very terrible. Very distracting bokeh. |

Panasonic just stepped into the ring again! I still like my silver E-P1 but damn....that looks good... (hotshoe EVF like the ricohs and a possible flash. Going to be weak but its there) 1. It will be almost the exact same dimensions as the EP1. “E-P1 is 121mm (W) x 70mm (H) x 36mm (D), 119X71X36.3mm for the GF1.” 2. It will have a pop-up flash. 3. It does not have an EVF but it appears that an external one can be used. 4. It has a dedicated movie record button on the top right of the camera. 5. It has HDMI output. 6. It uses the AVCHD- Lite format which means 720p(1280x720) but we don’t know the frame rate. 7. It has a single mono microphone on the top of the camera. 8. It will have 20/1.7 and 45/2.8 macro lenses available. However, we don’t know if they will be bundled with the camera. 9. It has a hot shoe. 10. It has a widescreen LCD. 11. It does not have in body image stabilization. I wonder if B substitute with 11 is a good thing. Got flash but lose body IS. Some prime don't have IS. AVCHD-lite is a good thing too. Can take video with smaller size. |

QUOTE(navilink @ Aug 22 2009, 01:23 AM) but most the lens if not all comes with IS now? why pana don't put in their latest tech, the Power OIS.. All I know is Pana lens come with IS. I think got very few lens for mFT from Pana. Oly kit lens no IS one. IS useful for tele lens. So most tele lens have IS. But pancake lens and WA lens will not have. I'm quite a ardent fan of body IS. So I will only buy camera with body IS. Pana got power OIS. That's the one with the lens lor... |
