Just a curious question to ease my own self-poisoning.. what made you guys go with a micro four third vs dslr vs even a premium compact?

Great picture quality with a compact camera, and the pics in high ISO rock! I've owned a dslr before, and the size does matter tongue.gif

BTW, I've just paid the leather cover from aki-asahi..will wait for the item to arrive biggrin.gif

1. the size
2. ease of use ( a lot of auto , scene, e-potrait, art filter)
3. no need photoshop
4. looks good with it..(only applicable to ep1 and ep2)
5. better than SLR in term of jpeg output
6. lens also small
7. carry SLR look to silly especially when u wanna go out for an outing which u dont know whether u are going to use the camera or not but still wanna bring a camera just in case something nice/interesting pop up that you might wanna shoot.

Totally agree with walikard and hellfire.

My main concern is the size and ease of use. Other than that I want to get out of the DSLR bandwagon haha.

Anyways, not to mention that MFT cameras are better looking that other types of camera.

A person asked me on the first day I held my E-PL1. "Sir, are you a photographer?"

I've never been asked the question before when I was using DSLR for 2 years.

And not to mention that my E-PL1's output looks much better than D5000. My sister used it and it totally pwned the D5000(which was equipped with flash and everything we can attach to it) haha.

thumbup.gif Great!! Never regret buying my PEN, though sometimes Samsung NX10 steal my attention a bit tongue.gif However, considering the jpeg output, PEN's output is my liking...and again, the size does matter as NX10 still bigger

The thing's like this.. I'm not really into photography but have been taking quite a bit of photos since I got my S90... I love the portability but there's some stuff that I'm gatal'ing for more.....

Like a narrower DoF.. faster performance...

Then it became gatal micro four thirds .... more specifically the GF1+20mm f1.7.

I'm concerned about the practicality of only using 20mm pancake... have to get reaaaaaaal close to get bokeh right?

Any bigger lense means it loses the size advantage.

Using any bigger lense pulak... u43 loses

Actually m43 format will have longer deeper DoF thanks to the 2x crop factor. smile.gif

You dun need to get reaaaaal close for a nice bokeh on the 20mm F1.7. icon_idea.gif

Most of the m43 or 43 lens are a lot smaller compared to the Nikon/Canon lens with equivalent focus length. brows.gif

Ahaha...most people would recommend the asahi leathrette. But it's not suitable with our white body. Anyways I just keep it inside my bag when not in use.

I'd recommend the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 pancake lens. It's like the default lens on my E-PL1 right now.

As for accessories, I think I'll get these:

http://www.ecam.com.my/shop/product_info.php?products_id=818

and

http://shashinki.com/shop/domke-gripper-ca...ase-p-5556.html or http://www.ecam.com.my/shop/product_info.php?products_id=605

I'm greedy enough to get both but I'm not sure if they can be used together.
