well the last time i watch animax is around... a year or two ago. ANd at that time, not all of the anime is english or BM subbed. They only provide english dubbed. And their sub sucks.... they translated it.. wrongly as i know some ( not all ) basic...
Not to say that they didn't put their effort. I appreaciate them doing so.
Even when you say it's not benifitcial for long run, maybe, why not made one company which is based in Malaysia? well.... it's just some... crazy though of mine. It might be impossible. Or even is.. bull shix i am just curious.

Easy boy. First, we look at how well the hardcore animu fans themselves especially in Malaysia. They're many but not that many. My wild guess is a mere 1 million or less than that. Because for Astro, there are more than a million subscribers and I am not sure how many are subscribing Animax. In this point, there might be other animu fans who didn't register for Animax. Animax channel itself is included in some packages and I don't think you might only subscribing the channel solely. From these fans, who are up to spending monies to buy their favorite stuffs? Most are teenagers to adults who unwilling to pay hefty bucks to feed their lusts with those things. When I said most, that doesn't meant all. Of course people like me, linkinstreet and also wolfx are people who gladly to get figurines, magazines, original DVDs or games from Japan and others using our hard earn monies. But most of other people are not really like that. A dedicated channel from Malaysia is welcomed but I don't think you can get enough money to maintain it.
Being an application developer, I've always looking at demographic of Malaysian citizen whenever I planned to release something for local audiences. For example, there are 8 millions Celcom subscribers plus several millions from other telcos. But only 2 millions are using smartphones (Nokia, Samsung, HTC, Apple and others). From these 2 millions are people who capable of using 3G connection/network. From these 2 millions also we must know what kind of smartphone OS they're using. If you choose to develop for Symbian OS (like Nokia N95), you're neglecting other OSes. Which means, less than 2 millions of possible users. To get a 10,000 products sold is not easy. Most of the time, more money being wasted through marketing while the revenue isn't that much.
