only problem with Jupiter is to have open account at their office (menara olympia jalan raja chulan)... or wait when they have their road tour / seminar ....
mostly trader open account with them, also got > 1Mill client though...
u can met the head of Jupiter Online (Mr Kelvin Tan) who is actively going to any seminar organized by any bank/chartnexus/nexview during the weekend times..
2 obvious advantage..
1- low rates
2- STP, straight thro' processing. (bypass order thro dealer, straight to bursa.. order execute within 3-5 sec)

for them, normally when i bank in online, just email to service center, trading limit will be update within 30 minutes, only the trust account will be update after the end of day...

LION Group on the move.

Active for last 3 trading days.

Like LIONDIV, when I entered last time was 0.66, dropped until 0.58 then back to 0.67 now. Haiya. Jual > up. Beli > turun.

Added on June 15, 2009, 10:34 amNice to see SEALINK down to 90cts. Another 5 cts down, I will consider a BUY smile.gif

Yup. Think i'll have trouble transferring my shares in my CDS account. They said I needed to fill in the transfer form and liaise with my old remisier. Awkward asking somebody to transfer out high amount of stocks from a client's account which is a big sum. That's what I like about Maybank, they would've just ask me to sigh the form and they'd do it for me for convenience.

I'm not quite sure but the intraday rate seems contradict with what I heard from HLE rep last time. I made a call to them some days back, and I was told 0.1% only applicable if the transaction amount > 12k plus.

Wait a minute, if you're EPF fund manager, if you are fully believe MAS has rock solid fundamentals and it will come back, why would you want to support MAS from dropping further?

You would definitely want MAS to tank badly tomorrow so that you can buy more at cheaper price.
EPF can dump all its shares of MAS immediately, which cause more panic selling, and then buy back at cheaper price.

So, why not let it burn, weed out the ikan bilis, then go out collect its ash and resurrect it like a phoenix, right?  biggrin.gif
*
Market doesn't work in this way, when you have significant interest in it, while if you see rock solid fundamental, you won't throw your stocks, instead you are supporting and keep on buying.

Because if you throw your stocks, other also see good solid fundamental as said, then others will 'sapu' your stocks.
In the end you are trying to help other make money only.

It is plain no wise to throw your own good future stocks (if one views on it) in order to make the share price plunge so that you can accumulate at lower price.
This strategy most of the time cannot work, but probably work on goreng stocks which genuine long term fund managers won't be interested in it, no matter what price is the stock.

No people want to see their stock plummeting if they are holding significant stake, as it just like throwing the stone on your own leg.

Remember market is not you and me or several parties alone.

When something is cheap, market will come in with lot of buyers. Just like what happened on recent market bounced up from the low point of March.

Eh in order to get dividend, one must hold the shares up to the ex-date, right? Meaning if the ex-date is today, then only tomorrow can sell, right?

RM10 for each counter to transfer.

if u bought the share for the price before the dividend then you will get the dividend, if you bought it at the lower price after dividend, then no dividend for you.

The price already factors in the dividend. So doesn't make much difference in effect.

Hi....Intraday transaction will not get you the dividend. If you buy on the day before ex-date, you need to hold it till the next day to qualify for the dividend. If you buy this morning, sell this afternoon and ex-date tomorrow, you will not get the dividend. You must be holding the shares through both days, the date before ex- until the ex- date. You can then sell your shares on the ex-date but the price has been corrected.

Yeah this is what customers do not like to see and have to hear. This is why I think the new broking house should get your signature on the transfer form and whatever documents they need and liaise on your behalf. It's much more pleasant for the customer but HLebroking did tell me I can do it at a counter instead of going through my remisier but I'm unsure of where exactly..

i think someone holding higher than me ... Omores ?

but the cap gains and dividend payment should keep my complaints to a minimal for the time being. (very much contented with the extra disposable income)

speaking of which, a TM vs AXIATA case, I'd like to think Axiata would be a better buy?

In terms of the sector they're in and also the geography they operate in, Axiata will have a lot of room to grow.
Problem is, dividend won't be there at least for a few years.

TM on the other hand, is more like yesterday's news? Limited organic growth opportunity.?

its still a "monopoly" though it dependent on organic growth... profits in the long run may be going down hill but unlikely to skydive as competitors eat into TM's market share.

only a matter of time TM will replenish its coffers, on the other hand TM will be heavily reliant on the success of new tech roll outs... failing which everyone on the TM boat can kiss their invstment BB.

Alright, thanks!
By the way, what does it mean that the price has been corrected ?
Say the closing price a day before ex-date is 1.00 and they declare 10c div, so the price on ex-date will be 0.90 ?

I'm thinking of buying Gopeng, in which they've declared dividend ex-date to be tomorrow.
Is it a good idea, since it's just one day before ex-date ?

Or do I look around for companies declaring dividends in the near future, rather than those declaring it tomorrow?

most company declare dividend weeks/months before, so the price already move up after that...
if u buy 1 day before ex-date, probably u buying a share at a higher price...
check the history first before u buying.

BTW, gopend declare dividend on 4 june, tat time price is 0.66, now 0.71....

How will the share price be corrected after the ex-date?
Is it based on the closing price minus the dividend declared ?

Alright, thanks!
By the way, what does it mean that the price has been corrected ?
Say the closing price a day before ex-date is 1.00 and they declare 10c div, so the price on ex-date will be 0.90 ?
I'm thinking of buying Gopeng, in which they've declared dividend ex-date to be tomorrow.
Is it a good idea, since it's just one day before ex-date ?

Or do I look around for companies declaring dividends in the near future, rather than those declaring it tomorrow?
*
Yes you are correct on the top portion. The price on ex-date will be 0.90 (thereabouts), but if people really like the company, you may see the price rise too. So sell it then. Last year, I happened across Zelan like that.

Gopeng - not sure...Never study ini punya company.

Aiya, both share I also have....Tanjong still yet to break my buy price of 13.60. It did not drop enought to 12.80 for my averaging down plan....But still got 15sen (after tax) div. brows.gif

And Sealink, aiyo, drop soooo much 4 sen....but oil prices dropped last Friday, so not surprising. I still holding my Sealink, since I buy at around 0.6x, then still have 4sen div...Hehehe...About 6.25% yield...Somemore price appreciate...Hold long term.... brows.gif

I am not sure what you are planning or hoping for your purchase. It is NOT ALWAYS a scenario where you can buy before ex and sell on ex with a profit. Let me illustrate.

Company A: Ex-Date 16th June, Div: $0.10 per share, Share closing price: $1.00 on 15th June. Say you buy 10,000 shares on 15th June.
So you own 10,000 shares worth $10,000.

On 16th June, the company will pay out to you $1,000 base on your 10,000 shares holdings. Obviously, if the share price remained at $1.00, then you would have made $1,000 just by buying the stock on the day before ex- and then sell on the ex-date at the same price if the price was not adjusted.

No company would give you this chance go earn so easy money. So the share price will be adjusted accordingly, perhaps to $0.90.
So your 10,000 shares are now worth $9,000 with your dividends $1,000 that equals what you paid on 15th June = $10,000. This is how it works.

Occasionally some traders may really want those shares and drive the price back up to $1.00 and you are in win-win if that happens. Most of the time, it will trade lower on the day of the ex.

good for you biggrin.gif

at 1090, everything seems expensive now as compared to 3-months back. (although some is still traded at discounted price if compare to back in 2008)

i'm not jumping in for anything now unless one can forsee market will continue to go up to 1100-1200 in near term.

meantime just hold on with what i have and stay alert with the wold news. i'm being a defensive player now tongue.gif

*
You can just open HLW/JUPITER account as a spare account incase your maybank has problems. No need to transfer all money / stock out. I've got two myself.

anyone up for COMPUGT??
i no balls to buy la... scare like TA-WB drop till 0.005 in the future...
director sell share non stop everyday....
everyday also sell over few millions of shares...
although they say their margin limit call down by the securities that is why selling but still smell very fishy la...
might be soon this company will be makan by someone else la i guess...
So director also very smart.. sell little by little day by day to maintain the price @ 0.075 if they sell of one whole shot then price will drop like crazy and could not attract buyer...

lol my avg price is 3.28 and i am not complaining?

i think someone holding higher than me ... Omores ?

but the cap gains and dividend payment should keep my complaints to a minimal for the time being. (very much contented with the extra disposable income)
*
Hehehe I bot average q commission at 3.942 - 0.1425 - 0.98 = 2.8195. So technically I bot at RM70487.50 worth, now market value is 67,390.67 (commission already excluded). Losing RM3096.83. How come ur avp so high? How much did you buy for last time, did you exclude the dividend not smile.gif? No worries la. Another dividend announcement would give you a breakeven.

Ya I'm looking forward to my chequey cheque. smile.gif

yes, its possible...

i have seem brokerage charges as high as RM 100 round turn.

for futures market i think the brokerage charges is unregulated and determined by the brokers themselves unlike equity.

and yes RM 25 PER SIDE is standard.

cherroy, how would you gauge a dismal Q results? Loss, or less profit? And what would be a generous dividend? More than 15sen? As i know, every quarter also declare dividend last year. Not sure this year got or not. Keep fingers cross for the next week announcment....  unsure.gif
*
Expected dividend is in the range of 70-90 cents pa.

Look at their operation earning.
If there are sign of dropping in significant way, generally it sends a warning signal dividend is not sustainable (like Carlsberg case) which I don't think so, as its 2 main core business which contributed most (>90-95%) of its earning come from IPP and 4D gaming shouldn't be affected too much.

In positive or negative? Tot you were making on this counter.

Anyhow, beware with oil counters in the short term. This morning crude oil dropped 48 cents, now saw drop of 1.15. Might get better later of course. Now down 1.11. Only thing green in my CNBC screen, is ChinaX still going up. Aiyo, can't wait for my bank account to open. Hopefully can trade China stocks from HK trading account.

kind of agree with you, oil prices have been gaining on a daily basis.. with some minor retreats and than climbing again trending upwards..

wonder where will it stop...

winter is approaching, so its not suprising that Crude Oil will be soaring again maybe USD 80?

See the data in the URL tomorrow before deciding, if red red, then maybe shud cut loss at highest point possible. If green, average down if FKLI is lower than your initial purchase price, then wait for it to go up and sell at profit.

Today I didn't take any position in futures, that's why very zen and can have morning nap. smile.gif Try that sometimes, really makes you feel good.

Generally, most O&G related counters down today follow the crude oil prices.

This category (O&G) quite bullish in coming months, expecting that US will use more petrol for summer holiday travels (unless they cut down), but as winter approaching, price of energy expected to rise.

Also, inventories & production can be manipulated. I think OPEC, or UAE/Bahrain/Qatar etc. will ensure price of oil reaches USD75/barrel else later on, instead of high rise apartments they will just have lots of high rise concrete.

Last few weeks see rise of oil from $62-$63 to $70+....Some pullback definitely expected. Some more, MAS say if oil maintain above $66 for rest of quarter, they can expect see profit recovery. Wow... blink.gif

Sigh, maybe due to my stupidity or naivety, or both,
I made a bad mistake today.

Bought Gopeng for 100,000 shares @ 0.77 to get dividends, because they're proposing 2c dividends, ex-date tomorrow.

Should have checked the history, because I bought it at a very high price.

Sigh, at least can get dividend, but dunno how long have to wait to offload the shares, meaning when will the price becomes 0.77 again.

I checked their P & L account, & noticed that even during financial crisis, they could ride through the waves & come out with roughly EPS 110. Thats remarkable. Its even better than before crisis, it was about EPS 90.
With recovering economy, they should maintain or get better I guess.

Hey, how long have you been trading shares? If you don't mind me asking..... wub.gif

$0.77 for today is quite high, considering it opened at $0.72. And if it did not close at $0.77, you will see 2sen off the closing price today. Just curious, why you buy Gopeng for 100,000 shares @ $77,000 for 2.6% div when you could have bought any other more fundamentally strong company for that amount? And some companies offer higher dividend yield.

In fact if I had $77,000 I would have sapu the Tanjong kao kao when it was at $13. Only not enough capital then have to average down at lower prices....sigh.... cry.gif

Dialog has got high P/E compared to its peers around tens.
I feel that though it is good news that they plan to build that 3.5b terminal in Johor, but, at this point they are still looking for investment partners to cooperate , plus this whole project takes 10 years to be totally complete. So, their returns on this investment will need time to materialise.
Anyway, overall market is down including O & G, so their share get a hit too today.

Thanks for the link, Pana! smile.gif

Yup.....Average up. It ran amok last week, I did not think it would actually reach $0.95. Monitoring it and it just go up and up, then i got the jitters and did not buy. Luckily, because this week offer cheaper. rclxm9.gif

Now that it is down, there is a window of opportunity to average up, but at a lower price from last week. This price is better, about $0.10 down. I doubt it will slide all the way back down to $0.6x. If i average at $0.85, my ABP will be $0.75, dividend yield still >5% offered by Sukuk.

Hands itchy.....Suppose to just hold, but the price too delicious.... sweat.gif Need some discipline, but after I buy this $0.85 tongue.gif

Yahoo is 10 minutes delay I think. Look at the time stamp that comes with the quote. if it says live/real time quote on top left then its real time. There are quite a few sites showing real time, can google "crude oil real time quote" and you'll can check which sites u like the best. I don't have a fav link. I use sites that show everything, too many webpages open, hard for me to focus...

healthy correction, so that market would rebound and shoot higher in near term  icon_idea.gif

Yeah exactly. You cannot challenge 1100 with being so overbought. This is what naturally needs to happen. Now this is the start, it'll be 3-4 days of this with slight green tomorrow or so but this 2-3 days is correction. With this kind of correction, you need to wait it out more and get cheaper...not today.

This correction might be more shallow than we think. These prices seem to be attracting a lot of buying in. Might see half to 1 day more of this before it goes up. Catalyst = bargain hunting of course tongue.gif

According to this article, apparently investors feel that share prices have outstripped the prospects for earnings. Hence Asian & European stocks have fallen on this speculation.

I believe that should data output from US be favorable, there would be a reversal of this trend. My opinion though.

http://money.cnn.com/2009/06/12/markets/ma...ahead/index.htm - This article from CNN has what's coming out this week from US data.

What was weird about today was the types of stocks that got 'corrected'. The index was actually slightly up but 19 of my 23 counters ended in the red. unsure.gif

Do you think we are still looking at the CI at 1,200 before the end of the year?

when market is good, which is good now in terms of high volume & more retail participation, most of us do not want to be under-invested and be left-out, so quickly withdraw from FD & throw into stock market.
Now , I'm 60% in equities, 40% FD

Yeah I will. I'll be keeping the M2U direct and nominees account open and they'll eventually be dormant but I can reactivate anytime should I choose to jump ship again.

With Jupiter all I need to do is open a Direct account because they still give me a 1.5x limit based on my shares in the direct account unlike Maybank who persist that you should open a nominees with them for collateral on stocks. This way I will get direct dividends, direct annual reports and direct rights at annual meetings.

But most importantly, the rates are the best and it makes a huge difference for swing traders like me.

I cautioned you guys on Sunday. A resistance of 1100 was up ahead and the market was heading there with an overbought situation. There is no way the market was going over. Too many people would profit take before it goes beyond. Funds know this too so they start throwing their holdings pre to that resistance point once their goreng counters reach a certain level too. Once big players throw, it seems like a panic sell and small players follow suit. It seems bad but it's just a correction.

nothing much I supposed. An excuse for a correction so that traders can sell now, buy in again later when prices are cheaper.
It is reported that market in US has been overbought. But the fundamentals bode for a slow recovery.
When world major markets perceive this, their markets drop and so affects us.

really cool prediction! so accurate!, looks like index of klci of correction just before 1100pts is in line with other markets, it is just not klci is on correction but all the markets, i wonder how this was so accurately adjusted in line with other markets, it is just not klci near to 1100pts doing correction but all the markets!

yeah. Your dad surely deserves it. In future can pass some to his akachan brows.gif .

Anyway, if you believe in MKland's turnaround , then you should hold as penny stocks with stories like that can jump double, triple faster.

But if you want a steady life without much hassle, BJ toto should do the trick.

I'm not getting Toto, I've got too much gambling stocks in my portfolio. Have 1k Tanjong, 20k Resorts.

Actually, I think the current correction is a healthy one.
What I'm fear of is crude oil jumps more than US$100. If that's the case, I'll sell off all my shares and wait for the bear to come.

Only not enough capital then have to average down at lower prices....sigh....  cry.gif
*
I've been recommending my dad on what to buy since I secondary school, I've been through peaks and troughs, ups and downs.
We have made some cool millions thus far.

But only recently am I been given money to start trading on my own.
And I've only started last week, when I signed up with Jupiter tongue.gif

Been making profits thus far, no losses (partly because I hold the proven mantra in investing, "got profit only sell,
if loss langkah mayat also i won't sell, haha..")

Since the money given is so small, I narrow my choice to penny stock, and I make profits from volume sell, so even if the price goes one tick, i can offset the brokerage fees by the volume of shares sold, hehe)

It is because I'd rather buy penny stocks in volumes, rather than buying expensive stocks in small volume.

Let me illustrate :

[Penny stock but bought in volume]
Bought KBunai @ 0.09 x (1,000 x 100shares) lots x 0.7% brokerage x other charges = RM 9,074.70
Sold KBunai @ 0.11 x (1,000 x 100shares) lots x 0.7% brokerage x other charges = RM11,090.00
Profit = RM2,015.30

['Relatively' expensive stock bought in small number only]
Bought STAR @ 3.18 x (50 x 100shares) lots x 0.7% brokerage x other charges = RM16,031.30
Sold STAR @ 3.22 x (50 x 100shares) lots x 0.7% brokerage x other charges = RM 15,965.47
Profit = RM65.83

And this Gopeng shares, is my first try in investing the "unconventional" way tongue.gif
I tried to get dividend and sell the shares for profit, just by holding it for a few days.

So what I did was, I printed a list of companies about to give dividends on ex-date, and narrow my choice to penny stocks.
Gopeng got my eye. It's declaring 2c dividends and the ex-date is tomorrow, and it is a penny stock.

And the plan is simple, buy a day before ex-date, hold it, and sell it the next day.
Dividends guarantee got, and even if the price goes up by a tick, I'm making profit.

Naive, stupid, or both, but at least I tried tongue.gif

I never did this before, because I've told my dad abt my plan long ago, and he almost stopped me from giving him advises anymore tongue.gif

So whether this plan pays off, I've to see and will update. At least I tried to be 'creative' and not followed the ways some claim as 'proven'.
And if I the share price plunges, at least i got my dividends (for holding the share only for a day) and will sell it when it bounces back, hehe)

more on OIL news:-

On the outlook for oil, Standard Chartered Research group global research said based on its technical readings, it said that Brent crude (August contract) met the rounding base objective at US$72 per barrel, with the 38.2% retracement of the down-move from the US$147.50 peak of July 2007.

It said the US$72 target was met on June 9, with the focus reverting to whether dips can draw out buyers. Support was now at US$65.67 (June 2 low) and then at US$55.85 from the May 15 low and former resistance.

“A turn below this area would shift the risk to further losses, with a draw-back to US$49.45 (April 21 low) then open.

“We favour the upside in crude instead, but a move above this US$72/bbl level is important, as it has failed to move any higher over the last few days and a short consolidation period now seems to be in play,” it said.

However, for its one-month outlook, it said Brent crude is expected to rally over the coming month through US$76 towards US$89.

Good morning you all,

Ready for some blood today at KLSE?? brows.gif

Yes, DJ spilled some overnight.. Dollar went up, Oil went down (just $2 off.. not much).
Early in the morning it was already taking cues already .. traders were punching the sell orders.

Investors got spooked about recovery, every Tom, d*** and Harry and their friends already knew,
the run up to 8800 since last week couldn't last. Too much overbought already.
Commodity prices were too high, with no real demand, how to hold up those prices?

Time to wipe some profits off.. but also time to jump into the good ones too (if you know which one to pick)
during this pull back.

Don't worry.. a little pullback is healthy.. so let market draw some blood today.. for those still holding, perhaps just stay on the sidelines and watch.. but if you got some extra cash.. go buy some on the dip! nod.gif

Naz, u joker..... doh.gif

Expecting a pullback today. IMO, a pullback is healthy. Cannot just keep rising and rising without stepping back, taking stock and consolidate position.

Just imagine a bull running cross country, at some point it will reach a river, the going gets tough (just like a drop in the stock market) and then it crosses that river and comes back to land and continues its run. On the way, it will find grass to eat (good news) and run more. Hopefully, this time is not the bear charging out from the forest and chasing the bull back the other way... doh.gif blink.gif

Then again someone always comments: DJ red CI green...haha... biggrin.gif

What your chasing target?

At $5, the DY is 13%. (0.3/5 + 1:14)
At $6 the DY is 12% (0.3/6 + 1:14)

So from $5 to $6 the stock still look good...Haha tongue.gif
