either way also you get similar performance.

from my tests, HD4890 still lead in many cases.

I believe the HD4770 CF will lead if you have x16/x16 crossfire speed like X38 / X48 / X58 chipset but your board is on x8 / x8 which is like my P45. smile.gif

Exactly. Multi GPU setup is a hassle to run and maintain (both physically and in Windows) so its better to buy single high end card over dual mid range ones.

sorry guys, my mistake to some extent........... but to say 16x/16 when crossfire isn't exactly correct too.

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboa...si-790fx-gd70/3

apparently the x8 is only when all 4 is used. smile.gif not entirely wrong though.

QUOTE
There's native ATI CrossFire-X support, naturally, but all four running together are limited to PCI-Express 2.0 x8 bandwidth, but just a standard pair cards still runs at the full x16 using the top slot and the third one down.

so yeah, CF 2 units - x16 / x16. CF 4 units x8 / x8.

just take 4890... for CF, it depends on games if that game support gc CF or not... if not... only 1 gc that will process it.. izit rite guys? by the way.. CF card need more power, make sure u hv enough power. card arrangement also need to consider if ur CF gc will not be fitted.

I would say take 4890. You still got an option to add the second card if you happened to need it.

If you aint bothered and just wanna wait for DX11 spec, then start saving your money. It does feel like GPU maker are clearing stock by hefty discount while waiting to launch DX11 part along with Win7. Just my guesstimate.

Microsoft already announced Windows 7 will be available by December and it includes DirectX 11. Probably that is the time DirectX 11 will be released. Look out for HD 5000 series tongue.gif

Guys,

My sapphire 4770 still giving me problem when i try to overclock it with CCC.

Everytime i mess with the ATI Overdrive utility the screen will turn completely green with horizontal lines and the pc hang. (Especially when i click the apply button or the test button).

If i enable ATI Overdrive but don't mess with the clock or core speed, everything will be fine.

Any advice?
*
i have the same GC as you..same problem too if i chg values in Overdrive and press Apply button, PC will show black screen and hang..i just only chg memory clock, core clock at default, 750/850

is there a very significant difference in running on x16 x16 and x8 x8...
from what i heard only too powerful cf like 4870x2 will be less in performance if running it at x8 x8..others still ok
and btw theres one pcie is 16x and the other one is x4..so this settup will lost much if cf?

Using CCC 9.5 here... I don't see anything different. Radeon HD 4890 here.
