Garbage collection is a term used in programming of cleaning up your variables when it is unused. Basically poor garbage collection can lead to memory leaks and in some cases crashes.
A garbage collector is a function that automatically kills variables when it is unused(i know technically its not exactly like that...but that's the easiest way to explain it). Users wont have to worry much about cleaning up their variables.

I see.Or it just clear off a variable from the memory when it's no longer being used?
This is interesting.

Basically yar, as frags explained it "just" clear up memory that is not used anymore without you (you = the programmer here) having to manually free it, which was a big pain in older languages like C.
It seems pretty "basic" like this but it's actually quite complex and absolutely vital for big programs as unused but not freed memory (ie: without a garbage collector) will lead to your game taking way more memory than it is really using and it will keep growing and growing (as non freed variables keeps piling up). That's one of the common cause of memory leak or "Out of memory" kind of error.
We are starting to gear up for the StarCraft II Beta. If you are interested in participating, you need to have a Battle.net account, which you can create here: http://us.battle.net/?rhtml=y.
Send us your Battle.net account login name and we will flag you for access to the SC2 beta when we begin admitting press. You do not need to go through the opt-in process.
We do not currently have a date to announce for the start of the beta test. There will be no NDA associated with the beta so youre free to write and take screens or video as you please.
We need to have your Battle.net account login name by Friday, June 19th. Thanks much!
See you on Battle.net!

A few sites have been getting emails like this. Those sites are reluctant to reveal whether they got it or not.Hope it's true this time.
Among the posters here who have registered for Bnet 2.0? with their game specs sent?
I registered to BN2 to try to get into the beta.
But you need to link your account to an existing Blizzard game before you can apply.
And it seems that my 3 years of WoW (and all the money that represents!) are not enough. Wow does NOT count as a Blizzard game....
That kinda pissed me off to be honest....
I do own original Diablo2 + LoD as well as Starcraft but they are back to hometown so I have no idea about the cd-key (and trying to explain to my mum where and what to look for is just impossible )
