Weird i brought l4d and tf2 from msia and it work just fine, perhaps borderland doesn't work the same? however when i checked out EBgames which they can pre-order online already and it doesn't say anything about any country limitation?

I think some people tell you Malaysia Valve games cannot play oversea, maybe its a mistake? perhaps didnt look the option in the filter? the default setting is Asian server?and we couldnt see option for Australia server, if we set the filter option to Australia, then we can see Australia server?
Well yea, Borderland retail can work anywhere, hopefully, need to comfirm from retail store in EBgames if i am free.

Oh left4dead HK version cannot play in Australia region which my hk friends had told me, i have a couple of hk friends who own l4d and cannot play in Australia and I wonder why. Unfortunately in Australia playing tf2 i'd never encounter hk people connecting to oz server, but when i am in msia, i did encounter player from hk.

Hmm... maybe its the version? chinese version l4d cannot support US version one, i did asks my hongkies friends why could not connect to Aus server  and they told me its asian version, which is in chinese fonts and the patch version is different from what they told me.

Oh really? buying Aus game cannot play in malaysia.. hmm interesting, i never brought game from Aus beside ps3 games which i abuse the 7days refund policy, furthermore buying game from Aus really expensive, i might as well wait till i go back msia and buy me some original game which cost way lower.
Oh yea i love playing in internode with 24 player, we should play sometime, love playing on weekend, over 300 player playing, fun stuff.

and edi, not everyone feels like splurging money on 2 games yo its a matter of preference. I for one, did not even get l4d1 because i didn't feel it was worth the price, and now that l4d2 is coming out, i'll likely only be getting it on 2 conditions:
1. 50% off weekend
2. no l4d3 next year (this of course is also dependent on how they merge the games together). heard some news that they're planning something to enable the l4d1 and l4d2 communities to stay together, if it entails completely scrapping the l4d1 engine and installing the l4d2 engine over it while allowing us to play the old campaigns, then huzzah, i'll be on the bandwagon with y'all soon.

I doubt that will work. If a game is banned there you won't be able to play it in Australia. 'This game not available in your region' even if you bought it elsewhere and are trying to launch it.

I heard Valve are reapplying with a censored version for Australia. Which means Australia might get a specific version which I doubt will work in Malaysia.

Would it be possible to proxy it?

I suppose Steam would identify your region purely from IP address.

Is not banned anymore... just censored version if you buy it in AUS... you can get friend in MY to send gift to you thru STEAM and you will get to play the un-censored one (unless they managed to censored that too which I doubt that)

Mostly like BFBC2 from the looks of it. Cause if IW doesnt step-up, I will definitely go with BFBC 2. Atleast They mention on their twitter page that BFBC2 will have dedicated server support.
