Wow, I've just found out that Felipe Melo played on Malaysian soil before, at Sabah FA on loan from Gremio.
Check wikipedia for more information.

Felipe Melo is an attacking midfielder currently playing for Fiorentina in Italy.
He has been linked to Arsenal for a couple of times but the latest news now is that Arshavin's former club, Zenit has put in a bid for this Brazilian midfielder.

well, maybe that's the part where le Boss can improve on  biggrin.gif

i do agree that very very seldom le Boss bought someone to replace the first teamer who are very much talented and performed quite OK for his first season such as Samir. Bobby was bought after we lose Overmars. the same with King Henry, he was brought in after we lose le Sulk. Gallas also was brought in after we lose Sulzer

but there were few cases where le Boss bought in someone to improve certain areas of the team. e.g. Gilberto was brought in while we still have Edu and Ray Parlour

Agreed with you. Also aw bought bacary when we already have eboue biggrin.gif

Ya right. AW's purchases are always entertaining brows.gif

However, AW's approach may not suit the current trend of football as there are more and more clubs buying players without bothering the prices. Anyway, I understand there is a need for such approach (AW's) because we are not those super rich clubs (minus the debts).

AW was right to ask all the Arsenal internal guys to shut up on talking about our budget etc... cos it will just reveal how deep our pocket is - which can be used as a bargaining reference.

wenger is an astute businessman when it comes to the transfer market. he refuses to be bullied into a price he does not agree to and he never reveals his hand too soon. i believe that he is right to tell the arsenal board to keep quiet. if you tell all and sundry about how much you have to spend, what edge do you have when you go to the negotiating table?

i am really thankful that wenger puts the club's finances as priority before making foolish purchases.
i do, however, hope that this time, wenger will dip into the transfer kitty a bit more because i think we need to.
and from what he has been saying to the press, it would seem that he knows it as well...

let's see where we go from here... take the wheel monsieur wenger...
