Youth signings like Angha must still be signed and should not be viewed as "Oh my god, not another youngster!".
I know some fans are annoyed by such signings but it's the positive way to get Arsenal running. We just don't have the money to splash like Real Madrid, so the youth policy seems like a very good solution to get talented players. Good work by Arsenal btw. |

british tax has been a major blow to signings. Arshavin was caught off guard by it and are trying to resolve the matter with the club.
seriously, 50% tax is just too much to anyone. say if you're making 15k monthly, you'll be taxed 7500. WTF? might as well make 7000 to 8000 monthly and tax less. clichy to RM? show me the money! |

QUOTE(jim18992 @ Jun 13 2009, 04:51 PM) which is why i use the cautious word of "apparently". i'm not sure its been debated here b4, but what do you guys think will we our best centre-back partnership next season? with most likely at least one new centre-back signing this summer(from the view of things), toure-gallas partnership seems unlikely especially with the uncertainty surrounding toure. gallas seems to be quiet these days, will he stay with us next season? after stripped of the captain band, he's our best defender IMO. we deeply miss him after his injury. i do hope both of them stays even with new signings as we need depth to challenge for all competition next year. so what do you guys think? stick with them for another season or try a new pairing? |

actually, i'd give Djourou this season to make his mark. We should talk to Gallas to stay for another season. Sendy? well... not quite sure but i want him to stay though.
ok... back to transfer topic... seems like all the news are about RM, ManU and Manciteh. eheheh.. |

WHAT DA FARK IS HAPPENING?
"Football has lost it's soul. It has become commodity and tool for political agenda." Ronaldo will earn 106mil pound in wages over a six-year duration as stated in his contract. The first year of earning is 183,000 pound a week and subsequently a 25% of wage increment of the following 5 years of his contract. This will total up to approximately 556,000 pound a week in the final year of the contract! The start of the CR to RM saga will spark a new inflation market in the already inflated modern day football...just like how the price for art boomed in the early 70's. Today, the marketing concept of CR is comparable to value of art by Damien Hirst...one of the richest contemporary artists today and the icon of the Young British Artist movement. I admit both are from different games but were just another products by the elite...it’s a never ending cycle of products after products after products...with prices soaring by millions. People everywhere are trying to emulate their successful path as part of the gimmick. CR ones quoted he's the world best, 2nd and third best... and we thought there's no one else as close to his caliber...after all he's the best as mentioned and words from him were the best, no? With his age, his charismatic demeanour, his envious yet sly grin, his goals in a season, skills, and the trophy he had... some might agree, perhaps he's the best after all.He cost a whooping 80mil pound today, by being the best. but as we look back then, we have at least 10 record breaking transfers in the history of modern day football!! What about them? Are they not the best? Why so many best coming out? To me Irishman George Best is the best coz he's the genuine with the Best surname and the icon for British football. Just we thought this will be the highest transfer fees ever comes into reality (starting to emulate the football games we once played)...barely 100hrs, another so called "better player" of the "world best player" emerge with a speculated record price tag of 90mil pound by his own club! Franck Ribery. This player was backed by a previous "best player of the world", ZZidane, to be HIS "best player of the world". Everyone wants a piece of Ribery and ironically those teams that wants him were rich clubs ruled by the elite for either marketing or political reason. Football is always third behind this...and the media and football business around the world manipulated us and create a smokescreen making us to believe it's actually for the goodness of football. If it's really for football, does price even matter? Why must elite clubs enticing players with their big transfer fees and wages? Why can't players be bound by the terms of the contract signed and only leave when finished serving the club? why can't Portugal hoist the world cup since they have the best in their team? why Bayern was not even in the quarters of CL but have to compete in UEFA Cup since they have the better best in their team? What about Milan with with the once priceless player named Kaka? wht's the bloody point to sign contracts and then to be broken by transfer fees by saying I am homesick, sad and leaving for the better? No other better excuses already? Who can be the defender of the beautiful game now and for the future?? Kaka was quoted once as "priceless"...now? he's onli half of the money paid of RM to Manchester. From "priceless" to "46mil" within a few seasons only is absurd. To me, no one is better and no one is indispensable in modern football. Their value were categorized either by commercial, age and marketing only. Sepp Blatter can even defend the ronaldo saga saying that football is still an attractive BUSINESS despite the global financial turndown. He said, "If we have a good MARKET in football, it means we have a good PRODUCT to sell or to buy. it gives people what they want, and it's emotion and entertainment." He also said "I heard also yesterday that you can buy millions of pieces of bread to give to the people for that amount, but entertainment is also food for the people." This is what the president of the "most beautiful game of the world" said. For the dignity of mankind and the love for sports, football ain't something we sell or buy...football is sports. It supposed to be a healthy thing to do, not the other way around. Some of us here need to work at least a month to get to watch 90min of football at the stadium! In our lifetime, we cannot even earn a day of Ronaldo's new speculated wage! See the ridiculously massive social gap caused by these elite? And he has the cheek to say entertainment is our food? Do we rather throw our support for more bigger transfer market in the future to the clubs we support, worsen the social gap and stop eating? There are people who fight and get humiliated for a piece of bread...and some were in dire hunger even if there's food given to them, they can't even open their mouth to eat, chew and swallow because they have no strength caused by severe malnutrition. What da fark is happening? This post has been edited by slcroy: Jun 14 2009, 06:27 PM |
