I think AW will try to sign another player before pre-season starts. If he didn't sign anyone by then, expect no signing or last day/last minute signing ala arshavin.

nah.. i think we're done shopping this season if we don't sell anyone. looking at the past few years, we've signed Rosicky, Walcott, Eduardo, Sagna, Nasri and Arshavin. While at the same time we've sold/let go of Edu, Gilberto, Viera, Henry, Flamini and bunch of other non-1st teamers. AW always balanced out his budget. It's only natural that he is looking to sell 1 or 2 players to balance out. if Vermaelen indeed cost us Euro12M, then i think Toure will go to ManCity for the same amount, if not more. BUT that would mean we're back at where we started. IMHO, Adebayor is the best bet for a sell. Milan, like ManU, is waiting for the cash from Real Madrid. Once they got that, they'll probably bid for Adebayor. if the bid is in the region of 20M, it'll be foolish for us not to consider.
I think AW will try to sign another player before pre-season starts. If he didn't sign anyone by then, expect no signing or last day/last minute signing ala arshavin. |

there's talk of senderos going to fiorentina, although any deal would be separate from that of felipe melo.
bassong and mamadou sakho were two names being floated around for a while in that cb position, though it seems to have cooled down. if ade goes then i would think that arshavin would play behind rvp. i have a nagging feeling that regardless if either toure/gallas goes, AW will not be buying another cb as he'll put song and djourou as backup. will have to wait for the confed cup to finish before we start seeing more, dare i say, concrete news of any signings that might happen. till later |

Arsene Wenger Looking To Keep Current Arsenal Squad Intact
The French tactician has ruled out selling any of the Gunners' key players this summer... Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists he has no plans to cash-in on any of the club's top players during the close-season. While Emmanuel Adebayor has been linked with a move to Serie A outfits Milan and Roma, as well as fellow Premier League club Chelsea, speculation has suggested Cesc Fabregas could join Primera Division giants Barcelona or Real Madrid. However, the French tactician says he does not want a repeat of last summer, when the likes of Aliaksandr Hleb and Mathieu Flamini left the Emirates Stadium. Indeed, it seems that if the north London outfit are to engage in any transfer activity it will be to bolster the Gunners' ranks. "We lost Hleb and Flamini last summer and we have had to rebuild," Wenger is quoted as saying by Setanta. "But we have done that now and the future looks bright. We don’t want to have to rebuild again, so I want to keep all the players together for next season. I don’t want to lose anyone. "I want to add to the squad and have identified one or two targets. But identifying players and buying them are two different things. "Ideally I would like to bring everybody in before we start back in pre-season training in July. I don’t want to leave it until the end of August." Source: http://goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2...al-squad-intact |

if we sell Kolo to any of the Premiership club for less than 20 million pound, i am questioning the ability of our management people in negotiating a deal as a big club. an experienced Ivory Coast defender, proven in BPL and in the peak age for a central defender not to mention not in his last year of contract, that is who Kolo Toure is. so anything under 20 million pound is a no no for me
i really hope for once we keep our first team together and add on a couple more players bought solely to address our weaknesses i.e. high ball, Cesc partner etc. it's always we bought to replace, not purely to add on or to strengthen the first team that we have |

AW already said he don't wanna sell anyone and he's happy with the current squad. Actually, i'm quite satisfied too. i do believe we need a CM/DM to bolster our squad but if we don't sign anyone, i wouldn't be questioning AW. He did say that we were in rebuilding mode last season after losing Hleb and Flamini. It's vital that we keep our current squad and add more depth into it. The addition of Vermaelen is a good start. Personally, i think we're done shopping unless AW gets a very good deal for Melo or Cana. toshio14, we've always sold people under value... and they always end up mediocre/unsettle at the new club. hehehe... but i believe if AW said we're not selling anyone, it'll take a lucrative offer from others to lure away any of our players now. interesting words from AW regarding Bendtner. To me, Bendtner has prove that he can be clutch when needed. I think he'll grow even more this year if Adebayor were to be sold. RVP will definitely partner him or Dudu. Another interesting point at arseblog.com, it seems that AW is contemplating 4-3-3 this coming season. Of course to make it happen, you'll need a midfield enforcer at DM. ehehhee.. dreaming la... -almunia- sagna-toure/gallas-vermaelen-clichy -Denilson/Yaya/Song- -Cesc - Nasri- Walcott Arshavin RVP/dudu/bendtner |

As AW praised Bendtner, rather than Adebayor who wasn't in form last season, I think the chance the later will leave becomes higher -or- the former will get more chance to play in next season.
Like some members here, I have no complaint if we are selling Adebayor as long as we are getting a good deal. With players coming back from injuries (and hopefully the injuries do not recur next season), we will have excessive attacking players in both the striker and midfield/wing departments. And like what AW mentioned, if it is destined that we are selling and buying, pleaseeee make it early. I really get annoyed how we lose key players right before the beginning of the season I also think that we are done in shopping (like what Sakaito posted). As long as nobody is leaving, our squad is considered decent. Maybe an addition of steel in the midfield is welcome but personally, it's not a priority to me. Again, Denilson will be getting AW's support to partner Fabregas with Song being a dependable backup. If Diaby can work out something during his holiday training, I don't mind including him in our team. We have no problem in the wing, at least I think so. |

i'll be happy if we add another man in the midfield area as a partner to Cesc, Matty-like player that compliment Cesc well
and the next on the list for le Boss is to handle Robin contract situation. for me it's easy, either he sign or sell him if he didn't sign the contract offered before August then i'd also like Billy G to extend his contract with us because he is still a very very good central defender. but i don't think i will get my wish on this 1 |

QUOTE(sakaito @ Jun 23 2009, 04:23 PM) hmm... dunno if i agree with another captain change next season. I'd leave it to fabregas. Maybe vermaelen can be 2nd choice. in that case, that'll move kolo further down to 3rd choice then. hmmm... AW can push Kolo forward become DM mah...anyway, about the PSG rumors, yeah AW eyeing this young striker from their academy but has since cool off. I think he takes a good look at the academy and realises just how much fire power he got there. ehehehe.. I'd like Bischoff to stay and fight for a place in the team. I think he is a good CM. He has showed glimpses of Gattuso-like play style. I like it. anyway, does anyone know Vermaelan's squad number? |

QUOTE(toshio14 @ Jun 24 2009, 01:35 PM) i'll be happy if we add another man in the midfield area as a partner to Cesc, Matty-like player that compliment Cesc well As I pointed before, adding steel or energy into the midfield is welcome but it will cause the midfield overcrowded. Therefore, if AW is really bringing someone to partner Fabregas, he has to think of what to do with Denilson, Song, Diaby (and Ramsey).and the next on the list for le Boss is to handle Robin contract situation. for me it's easy, either he sign or sell him if he didn't sign the contract offered before August then i'd also like Billy G to extend his contract with us because he is still a very very good central defender. but i don't think i will get my wish on this 1 RvP's contract is tricky. He has a lot to think now... mostly because Arsenal's direction towards the new season. Will we be able to challenge the title with: 1) MU being strong and rich (after CR7/9 sale) 2) Liverpool's continuous improvement (they just got the highest-paid defender of all-time) 3) Chelsea's & ManC's deep pockets Instead of concentrating on Gallas, I'd like to suggest both Gallas and Toure to stay. They both are very much needed despite being reported of having conflicts between them. Losing either one is a big loss to Arsenal. QUOTE(Liuism @ Jun 24 2009, 02:13 PM) AW has declared that Toure won't be playing as DM due to stamina issue. I do think he can bring the energy to the midfield - if stamina is the issue, maybe he can come in as substitute or something - but that will be a waste to me Vermaelan's number has not be set yet. |

Arsenal Offer Adebayor To Inter & Milan To Prevent Chelsea Switch - Report
It seems the Gunners are willing to offload the Togolese abroad, but are reluctant to sell to a fellow Premier League outfit... According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, Arsenal have contacted Serie A duo Milan and Inter with regard to signing Emmanuel Adebayor during the close-season. It is claimed that the Gunners are willing to sell the 25-year-old, but they have offered him to Italian clubs in the hope of staving off interest from fellow Premier League outfit Chelsea. Apparently, the north London-based club are looking to receive around €29.1 million (£25m) in exchange for the 6ft 3in striker. However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger harbours concerns that neither the Rossoneri nor the Nerazzurri will want to take the 39-time capped Togo international, who has scored 35 goals for Les Eperviers. Indeed, the former Monaco and Metz star's agent revealed on Tuesday that he has not received any enquiries from Milan, and stated that his client would like to work with new Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti. It is thought that should the Gunners cash-in on the forward, they will put the funds towards transfer targets such as Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh, Fiorentina midfielder Felipe Melo and possibly even Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler.
