QUOTE(whatsayyou @ Jul 25 2015, 03:57 PM) My trip will be in late August. What type of shoes should I bring? Really depends where you are going. If just walking trials, the locals even go barefoot. If you're going hiking, then hiking shoes. Otherwise, shoes that you are comfortable with walking long distances.Hiking (timberland, etc) or normal sneakers (nike, converse) ok? |

International driving license is no where near RM30 la.
I think that's a translation only. And you don't need an international driving license to drive in NZ for a few weeks. Driving around in a campervan is a real experience to have but I felt that it's not much cheaper than staying in holiday parks and motels. There are a lot more things to handle with the campervan, such as charging it, discharging your toilet, replenishing the fresh water, etc. If the weather is cold, it can be quite cold at night. Driving the campervan takes some getting used to it too. I did a short campervan trip once, but would definitely go for car and motels the next time round. 4 in a family, just nice for a car. |

Can google that up So it decided then mode of transportation is by car and will be covering south island only. Maybe during spring or summer. Is there whale watching activity there? Because we missed the tour back then at perth.. |

QUOTE(RedShirt @ Sep 7 2015, 04:06 PM) Can our Malaysian phones workable in NZ? As in understandably phones are made to receive different frequency signals, wondering to buy a traveller SIM card for some internet for navigation purposes (Waze). As long as you got roaming, you can use your Malaysian SIM card. But cheaper alternative would be to get a local SIM card.I will be going on a self-drive trip around South Island, starting from Christchurch and ending at Greymouth where I will be taking the TranzAlpine Express to head back to Christchurch. Thinking whether to rent the navigation device or get a traveller SIM (or rent a mobile WIFI device) with data to load up Google Maps just in case. |

QUOTE(naix @ Nov 4 2015, 10:42 AM) If i buy chocolate from nz then transit at melbourne. I will change airline. Is the chocolate can bring back msia? Will aussie custom block? If it's from NZ, nope. I've bought Whittakers from NZ before, flew AirNZ to Sydney then Airasia to KL the next day. I declared that I was bringing in chocolates and the custom lady didn't even open my bag to check. |

QUOTE(elaineliew88 @ Dec 14 2015, 01:33 PM) anyone coming to new zealand soon for travel or working or working holiday? There's another thread for working holidays in New Zealand, please use the search function. * i am currently in New Zealand Auckland and can share info with you guys in term of accomodation, buying cars or renting cars , jobs info...staying here too long and get bored , time to meet up some new hometown friends...welcome to nz anyway...=) QUOTE(WEE2000 @ Dec 16 2015, 01:08 PM) Hi, im a first traveller. do u recommend nz? i prefer greeneries rather than cities. plan 2 travel during cny, shall spens about a weeks time, if recommended.. 1 week? Just do South Island then. Pretty much whole of NZ is green and nature other than a few cities. You won't find cities like Singapore or KL there. Extend your stay to 2 weeks if possible. It's very common for people to travel alone there. Do some research on backpacking in NZ. |

QUOTE(WEE2000 @ Dec 17 2015, 11:30 AM) may i know agak2 how much $ need prepare for the trip? i can plan to stay longer, thx so much for the reply.. Depends. Flight tickets budget around rm4k return. How you gonna move around? Rent a car? Take bus? What type of food? Eat out? Cook your own? If cook your own then you'll need accommodation that allows you to cook also. I'm not sure how much is the average rates for hostels. Have to check that up on your own. You can search hostels booking websites for that. |

QUOTE(kazekage_09 @ Jan 13 2016, 01:05 PM) Airasia is having promo to auckland. I want to go to south island but auckland also ok. But what are the activities i can do there? With wife and 2 kids. Is january 2017 good months to go there? If time is of no constraint, hire a car in auckland, drive down to south island, finish your holiday and fly 1-way chc-akl then back to kl. January'17 is summer time. Long daylight hours and weather should be good. It's holiday season there though. School holiday, uni holiday, and adults holiday for Christmas sometimes they take a month off too. Google up what you can do there. Auckland, Rotorua, Taupo, Bay of Islands, Cape Reinga, Hobbiton, Eastland, Wellington, etc. http://www.newzealand.com/int/north-island/ |

Not a big fan of LOTR so didn't bother with the tour. Hobbiton was overpriced and not worth the money at all if you ask me.
5-7 days not enough to do much. Fly straight to Queenstown. Don't bother with Auckland. |

QUOTE(Steven7 @ Jan 18 2016, 12:01 AM) QUOTE(Brandon323 @ Jan 18 2016, 09:00 AM) Is AA AirAsia? I checked just now, can't find a multi-city route KL-Gold Coast - Christchurch,or am I totally wrong? Airasia flies to Auckland via Gold Coast. You'll have to take another domestic flight to CHC if you wanna head to South island. Refer to my post below:QUOTE(munkeyflo @ Jan 13 2016, 01:34 AM) KUL-AKL RM998 return. Exclude all the add-ons. Luggage is at RM135 (20kg) or RM129 (20kg sports) 1-way. Seats RM60 for standard seats. Transit time is not that bad compared to Jetstar. Total travel time KL-AKL around 12.5 hours. AKL-KL around 16.5 hours. The same plane will be used to fly to Auckland. "This outbound flight will stop for a layover in Gold Coast.Estimated arrival time is 0725. Departure time is at 0840. Total layover time is 1 h 15 m. There will be a brief stop in this city, but the trip will continue on the same plane." |

QUOTE(Brandon323 @ Jan 19 2016, 01:48 PM) Ok, thanks. The stopover at Gold Coast makes the journey very long right? "Total travel time KL-AKL around 12.5 hours. AKL-KL around 16.5 hours. " Direct flight about 10 hours I think. Is it possible to extend the stop over to visit Gold Coast? Yes, direct flight is around 10 hours. 12.5 hours isn't consider "very long" for me if you ask me. Jetstar transit times are longer and the only direct flight to AKL is by MAS which cost RM3k+ minimum return. If you book directly, you will not be stopping over at Gold Coast, you will only be on transit. You won't be able to get out of the departure hall. You don't need an Aussie visa. If you wanna visit Gold Coast in the same trip, I suggest you better book AA flight KL-Gold Coast, then Air NZ/Jetstar/Qantas Gold Coast-NZ. |

QUOTE(kord @ Mar 12 2016, 10:43 PM) Hi guys..quick question, im flying with airasia for the 1st time to AKL. And fyi, there is a transit at OOL for few hours iinm.. Just want to know, do i need to apply entry visa/transit visa to aus for this? Or will the stop is just within the airport boundary and no nid to get off the plane? Hope someone taking kul-akl with aa b4 can shed some light on this.. Thnks so much! It's less than an hour stopover and most likely you won't be able to get off the plane also. So I would say no, you don't need a visa. Won't be flying to Auckland via AA until May/June. |

QUOTE(stevendefool @ Apr 15 2016, 05:08 PM) Hey guys, I'm planning to go New Zealand soon, specifically South Island, but I can't decide on the dates. Would like to hear some inputs from you guys. Just make sure you get waterproof shoes. Not sure about the tracks though. You might be able to google and check the past years' condition. NZ has quite some info on their tracks online.I'm mainly interested in going on hikes such as the Ben Lomond Track and Roy's Peak Track. If I were to go during mid of August to early September will there be a lot of snow and would these tracks be walk-able with just normal shoes? QUOTE(lancelot567 @ Apr 17 2016, 06:51 PM) Quite true. If you are buying check in mostly for things like toiletries, it's very cheap in NZ. But for those with lots of things to carry, no choice lor. |

QUOTE(hz428 @ Apr 24 2016, 05:51 AM) For those who gave false informations ! When ever travel to New Zealand and needed to self drive, please get your license translated, or else you gonna pay 69NZD just for a translation! Apply at EZI car rental Where you using the old laminated driving license? Your new Malaysian driving license is already dual-language and we can drive/rent cars perfectly fine with it. |
