why 3 minutes need 70mb+ ? did u realise that the video quality is super Clear if compare with those smaller MBs ?
*
1) I think you are using high/highest quality settings in N82
2) The format stored is not the in best compressed format. i.e. although it may be mp4, similiar like a jpeg compression image, but it is a loosely compressed video.

Try copy the video to PC, then use video-software tools to compress the video again or lower the resolution. The video quality will degrade but the file size will be much smaller.

mzms,

Nokia Sports Tracker application is good to do bread-crumbs trail tracking including altitude. But this depends on the signal strength and number of satellites locked. For altitude, I think need minimum 4 satellites locked.

However, for more accuracy and faster response, nothing beats a dedicated GPS device.

You can pair up N82 + GMXT + map + Bluetooth to the dedicated device also.

5zal06,

Google for Super © (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer) software for PC. It is a freeware to convert videos.

Normally, when I open YouTube in PC, it will auto-play. I will click the Pause button, and wait until the pink/red bar is fully downloaded. This may take from several minutes to 1 hour or more, depending on my StimX bandwidth and video-length. Then only I play the video, it is very smooth.

Added on July 3, 2009, 9:41 am5zal06,

If I understand correct, you watch the uploaded into YouTube in PC is not smooth.

You watch the original video in N82 is smooth, clear and sharp.

The reason is, when you capturing in N82, I assume you use high-res (for phone) 640x480 VGA 30fps. At such high-res, it is 70MB

As mentioned above, YouTube will convert and reduce before storing at their website. The 70MB will become, e.g. 7MB. However, using higher compression, hence lower quality, the resolution maybe reduced to 320x240 and 15-20fps. This is why you see not so smooth, not sharp, jaggy, boxes, etc.

A-GPS is chargeable every time your launch GMXT. Unless you don't mind the few cents each time.

if got cloudy sky means very hard to get signal? or rainy day?
*
Both. Clouds and rains contain water -> Oxygen (H2O). Oxygen is one of the molecules that absorb/disperse (whatever technical terms) RF signal.

Similiar concept like Ass-tro.

So far not yet swap back to original battery, still using the 1800mAh. But the next time change crystal case, will swap.

It is always better to alternate use it.
1) Full charge A battery. Take out and put in cool places (10-20 °C). Don't keep in warm/hot places.
2) Put in battery B and use until finish, then full charge.
3) use use use...

Time to change battery. The battery cannot provide consistent discharge at high-usage when required.

I think he means those skin wrap or martin field type of protectors.

Plastic is transparent crystal case
Rubber is silicon semi-transparent.

I read on other sites about the red light issue & it seems that its a sorta "security" feature so other people know that u r recording video in their direction. Its tied to the Asian firmware version of the N82 like the camera shutter sound issue. The only way is to block the light using either some kinda sticky tape thats thick enough to block it or if u're the adventurous type u could dismantle ur phone & remove the red led from the circuit board which will promptly void any warranty that u might still have XD Some mentioned that the camera's auto focus function is dependent on the red light but personally I think thats a load of crap.
*
Agree with you. I covered the red light with 1-2mm of black non-transparent material, then cover the entire flash with blu-tack. No more red light. I can still take normal portrait (near), landscape (far), and macro (<30cm) pictures without flash. But very troublesome to remove the coverings if want to use flash.

I may be tempted to dismantle the red light.

I think I'll just place a finger over the damn thing until stop recording. Fast & easy way to solve the damned problem. Primitive but effective none the less wink.gif
*
Doesn't work for me. The red light is very bright and goes through my finger. Then the red light is dispersed and the camera will capture a red tinge in the videos or pictures. doh.gif

The Punisher,

I've tried covered like that before, like you say, the red light is refracted on the transparent plastic. Not 100% no red light.

Drop until the scratch the flash ? shocking.gif

No worries on GPS Satellite falling down from the sky.

GPS Timeline

If you look at the chart, you will notice old satellites are missing and replaced by newer satellites from time to time.

All things have wear and tear, including satellites. Even the current Astro satellite is 2nd or 3rd generation already. Why ?
1) Damaged by outer space debris, rocks, dust, etc. hitting it.
2) Solar panel wear out. Battery runs out, electronic boards failure, solar radiation.
3) Jet fuel propulsion runs out. It needs regular burst of jet in X, Y and Z axis to maintain the satellite in orbit position and pointing to the right area.
4) Soundwave attacking satellites (Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen)

Ignore last item #4 tongue.gif

wat the diffrent between MicroSD and MicroSDHC ...? both can be used on n82?
*
MicroSD is up to 2GB only. Anything higher is known as MicroSDHC, up to 32GB only. Almost similiar specs and technology, just referring to higher storage space only.

How to differenciate class 2 and class 6 sandisk microsd memcard? Is it written on the memcard?
*
Yes, it is stated on the packaging and memory card. But there are people who claim fake/imitation memory cards. hmm.gif

Class 2 transfer speed is good enough for N82. N82 does not utilise the faster Class 4 or 6 as it does not have that high-speed transfer capability. Unless you pull out and plug into USB memory card reader into PC.

Someone may want to dig and repost the link I put up several times already.

N82 will get hot doing almost anything that "constantly" uses the screen backlight such as GPS navigation. Though it might not necessarily by caused by the screen backlight itself, the heat is mainly felt from the battery, at least for me it is.
*
Not only that. Using it online with 3G will be quite warm too without LCD light.

QUOTE(jackbanner @ Jul 20 2009, 04:58 PM)

Sorry lah, I also don't know how to differentiate.
