QUOTE(apexg2 @ Jun 3 2009, 02:28 PM) thats mean, if we save a mp4 movie, we can play direct with the sd-card?noob question here.. Sorry, no mp4, only AVCHD, MPEG2 and JPEG are supported. Added on June 3, 2009, 8:03 pmQUOTE(ar188 @ Jun 3 2009, 07:54 PM) anyone using the Optical out from the back of the TV? wonder what;s that good for? That is a Digital Audio Output. Audio system that support optical input, such as surround sound receiver, can use this as an input. This post has been edited by Alan Yee: Jun 3 2009, 08:03 PM

I know it can hook up to receiver/AV amp but the optical data is from what source? from the TV RTM channel? wow?

If you watch sports or music video or concert from astro or even normal tv channel....the sound from amp is better than listening to ur tv puny speaker. So hard to grasp the idea meh?

So hard to grasp the idea meh? can always use the RCA stereo cable to do it like it has been done for ages.. it's not like the terrestrial antenna source is so Hi fidelity to warrant using Digital connection.. in any case if astro is so hi fi, I would route the Astro box signal directlt to the amp, not via the TV with astro RCA , convert it to Digital and then back to the amp..

I don't have the TV.. But I believe the optical out can extract the sound from HDMI connection to your amp..
Either you watch tv or BD just set the amp to same input..

I just have to add, testing it out first is believing Panasonic can produce duds as well, believe me, I've seen them (the amplifier tv stand *groan*)

I search the web, most ppl saying that the optical output only output stereo sound only.
Means if you using HDMI, set the surround output as 5.1 channel surround at the player, will output as 2 channel only when going through the TV via optical output.

QUOTE(ronaldjoe @ Jun 3 2009, 05:13 PM) Do we need to wait for plasma to break in first before we can calibrate it? ronaldjoe, The answer to this is yes. The 1st 200hrs are needed for the plasma phospors to settle in. You will see that the picture quality will improve after 200hrs. There will be less PWM and the "pixel fizzling" will settle down. After that, the phospors are stable. Thus calibrating before the 1st 200hrs might be inaccurate since it is not mature as yet. The results will change after the 200hr mark. Of course it is better to wait after the 500hr mark but the changes are minimal.

Think the same. got to wait...just watch TV as usual will do. Dun really care on AVS break in procedures as suggested by D-Nice. 1st 10 hours, plasma colour was horrible out of box. Colour is improving now but saw one dead pixel on Tuesday night. Pink colour pixel in middle of nowhere on the screen, Panasonic tech ppl came yesterday to check out. They would revert to me next week on warranty. This post has been edited by ronaldjoe: Jun 5 2009, 09:22 AM

Do keep us posted on the progress of the warranty. Haven't plunk down the mulaas for my set. If they don't do something about it, make us you make as loud a fuss as possible. The Panasonic service department needs alot of motivation to fix stuff sometimes, especially when comes to new product. When it comes to servicing, Sony beats Panasonic (so much for super brand) hands down in Malaysia, but Sony's pricing......

My previous panasonic plasma suffered from IR after less than half a year of usage and even though it's stated in the user manual that IT is not covered by the warranty, the pana service rep tried his very best to make it a big issue and got me a 1-to-1 replacement. How's that for good service.

How's that for good service. my customer got a new replacement model from PV80 to X10 after found out the panel problem 1 year later from the purchase date. he used to be a Sony customer. the service rating he gave for sony was pathetic, and so he switched to become a panasonic customer. his warranty claim makes him even loyal to the panasonic product.
