after reading this thread. i really need to advise my gf to be careful when her iphone with ivalue100 comes. will definitely install the application to disable EDGE/3G and will teach her to only enable it whenever she needs to use data.

Maxis is getting kinda scary lately with the excessive data charges. i've experienced it myself before but not on the iphone though. luckily mine wasn't alot because it was still within my monthly commitment range and i only paid extra 40 bucks. but still, like everyone mentioned. we have no hard proof to show that we really did not use it.

@red-queen,
Doesn't the iValue plan come with 500MB worth of data? 500MB is definitely more than suffice lar.

Hi

I dunno whether this is the right place to ask my question ..

well he goes,

so lets assume i buy an iphone with ivalue 2 plan and give the phone to my girlfriend while i have the sim card..
will i be able to use the sim card to access the internet (skype) via a 3g adapter to use that 1gb free data and i also i will be using the sim with my se k810 to use the free mins..

I got this doubt bcoz i read these following lines in the maxis t&c

"Maxis reserves the right to rescind some of the privileges of the rate plans should the registered line not be used with the purchased iPhone."

So wat privileges does they mean..

if your wifi's signal is WEAK..3G would automatically take over so it does count..strong wifi signal woulnd't bother triggering 3G usage

unless u totally change ur apn to other words when u r on wifi. thn it will be totally on wifi else as diegoadriadona mention, it will auto route to 3g if ur wifi is weak. when u wanna to use back the data, u jz key bek the apn again..

That is what I did but I still see the usage keeps on increasing. Is this normal? I renamed the APN to unet123. That should do the trick right?

The correct one is unet (maxis). I purposely add in the 123 to make it not useable to ensure that it don't suddenly use my 3G data as I do not have dataplan.

what about the mms settings?do I need to change the password as well?
From what you are saying,if the apn is wrong it will not increase my data count anymore right?

it really depends on yours usage, if you do mms frequently , i would like to recommend you not to change it, unless you are hardworking enough to rechange the settings whenever you want to send a mms. it is also advisable to disable it if you are really concerned about the charges.

in my opinion, so far on my ivalue plan2 package, equipped with 1gb data, i only managed to used less than 100mb, and i didn't disable anything as well.

when the apn is mismatched, if i not mistaken i think most probably data couldn't be send and received, due to unauthorized settings

if u change ur mms setting.. thn it will be quite troublesome 4 u when u wanna send ur mms. unless as wat eternity4av mention, u haf to retype the setting again when u wanna mms. btw, mms won't affect ur credit flying out.. cz i doubt it's hardly 4 u to accidentally send a mms without u noticing it..

data count is counted when u use ur data thru 3g..else the count won't increase even when u use wifi to on9. correct me if i'm wrong.. cz i'm a newbie too.. haha tongue.gif

That's exactly what I thought. But the thing is I already renamed the APN and disable 3G but the data is still counting.
Now I totally renamed the APN settings to other name totally. Initially I just add 123 at the back of the unet. Let's see what happens now..
btw, what's the data charges for normal rates? is it 0.005sen per kB?
