what the diffrent between digi unlimited and
maxis unlimeted?

@nud_karo Maxis unlimited has been phased out. if you already have it, good ... if not, too bad, its not available anymore.

Digi unlimited is still available, but Digi coverage is not as wide as Maxis.

bought iPhone 4 outright using my hotlink prepaid number. i have been given 500MB complimentary Data every month.
recently, i've discovered my balance been dropping drastically.
I did not use that much usage for phone calls and sms, so i suspect it is the data charges.
Problem is, my data counter in my iPhone 4 had never exceeded 50MB( download and upload combined).

My balance checked yesterday night was RM5.XX, but when i checked today afternoon i am left with RM0.61.
in this time, i have used my Facebook application on my iPhone for 10 minutes, and a few short calls as well as a few sms. I am using Hotlink Youth Club so my SMS will be 1 sen each and my calls wont be more than RM4.

I would llike to know how do we know when is the starting for the 'Month' for us Prepaid users for the 500Mb Monthly Data?

bytheway i have also once few MB jump to 4GB. i confirm its not download when during sleep mode. cause i just close the settings then back on again. then it happenned.
was so scared so i reset my data counter and off my 3g/data XD

1) fyi,data counter is for your own tracking system,not for maxis to check..so,resetting it like u did was a very bad move coz now how u wanna check your real data counter?.plus,u're on prepaid..there's no monthly bill for that.

2) u pay for rm68 is it? Coz that's the only prepaid plan that give u free 500mb data.

3) how long have u been using the prepaid on iphone 4?

4) don't know how maxis set your monthly cycle date started as you're a prepaid user..should ask hotlink customer service

This sounds like ur given 500mb of data foc every mnth, im sure ur charged rm18 for it rite?

but yesterday i went to maxis the staff said can do for me if i wanna to..

1) its true that u have to reset it every month, but not reset it out of fear(thats my point)..reset only when u really know your bill cycle date

2) since this is your 1st month using it,i think it is safe to say that there are a lot of things that u dont know about the iphone 4 tips n tricks,especially for maxis@hotlink users..please use the search box in this website to read more about it..u can also search for my previous comments in this thread..n it will also lead u to others as well

i am maxis user

begging of this mont i paid rm300 to clear my outstanding. that time still havent got iphone. i got my iphone on thursday. Saturday sms me said my outstanding is rm2xx plus already. i offed the 3g, wifi, cellular data most of the time, coz office got internet access.

i checked my usage.. just 68.9mb received. wat is the problem actually.

if now i wanna change to Digi, is that possible ?

If your info is correct,this is the calculation..i ASSUMED u got the ivalue 1 rm100;

1)ivalue 1=1gb=1000mb=30 days
2) u said u got your iphone 4 on thursday n TODAY is the start of new billing cycle..basically u only have 1 day of free data usage = 33.33 mb
3) 33.33 mb=3333 kb, n your usage is 68.9mb=6890 kb
4) 6890-3333(free)=3557 kb
5) rate is rm0.05/kb
6) 3557kb X rm0.05 = rm177.85,its close to your bill amout

However,that is just my calculation n approximately..should check ur billed amount n ur unbilled amout using *100#

And its your choice if u want to change to other telco

I've been travelling a bit lately in the Africa region, and I just want to share a bit of comparison.

I've had prepaid sim cards for Emtel (Mauritius) and Safaricom (Kenya). Both of these countries are backwaters compared to Malaysia, way poorer infrastructure and development.

But guess what ... both countries prepaid out-of-package data rates are about usd0.10 per mb. And if you do buy a data package, you don't need to worry at all about monitoring your data usage on iPhone, because when your data about to finish they'll auto SMS you to tell you that "you only have 2mb remaining."

So ... why are Malaysia's data rates (and especially Maxis one) so expensive? Maxis is rm10/mb for crying out loud.

Digi do hav data usage notification thru sms altho they hav unlimited data usage, not sure bout maxis tho..

I suggest you walk into Maxis centre and ask them to disable the internet service for u immediately to prevent further slaughtering by MAXIS. Then ask them show u a breakdown of the usage. If they cannot provide, raise case to MCMC.

the *100# doesnt show ur unbilled amount accurately. missdream, i'd say just use ur phone normally until u get the 1st bill. that way u can see 1) the actual amount u have to pay, and 2) ur usage (get the itemised bill). that way it's easier for u to confront maxis if u got overcharged.

Now you know what a cash cow billing for data used over the limit is to Maxis. No wonder they won't let users check how much data they have used.

Hi all, I just saw on the site after login, under Value Added Services, there's an Unlimited 3g package for RM99. Is that valid? I thought the most only 3gb for RM88.
