I just ordered 1 from Blue Jeans Cable together with their subwoofer cable yesterday.

Before that was going to buy QED Performance Y-splitter from futureshop.co.uk
OR
Audioquest Y-splitter from Amazon via Vpost.
*
If I had known earlier I would have tumpang your order to also buy a Y-splitter from BJC. tongue.gif

bro i think the signal voltage increase nia ma.. its doesnt improve the performance.. u will hit the limit of your sub sooner nia.. example if without y splitter maybe u hit max spl at 2oclock, with y splitter maybe hit max spl at 10oclock gain..
*
Yeah using Y-splitter increases signal by about 3 dB so your sub sounds louder by 3 dB. But as you said it does not increase the max limit of your sub.

The benefit is that to maintain the same sub volume you can turn down the amp power and hence distortion a bit less.

Respond from KEC . Ms Violet
The prices are as follows:
SVS PC-12NSD & SVS PB-12NSD ---------------- SGD$989 (RM2400) (Include GST 7% Tax & After 10% Disc from $1099)

Deposit is 30% of SGD$989 so we would just need you to pay a deposit of SGD$289. (Rm700)
Email: kecsound@gmail.com / +65 65643188 http://www.hifibargain.com/

I assume this doesn't include transportation to MY? Do you know how much KEC charges for that?

And also I guess local tax not included yet.

apa ini http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/Sub_Woofers/anti-mode.htm.  is this similar with the svs ASEQ1
*
Yeah, it's also to even out the bass. Another one is the Behringer Feedback Destroyer.

Even the SVS model is developed by Audyssey and they have their own Audyssey Sub Equalizer.

antimode so much cheaper and can easily go through the customs with its inexpensive look

There is another sub for you guys to consider. Submersive sub had great amp section which is using 1000watts ICE and 2 x 15" driver. It's seal sub so it's more controlled than ported sub. This sub can go down to 10hz and smaller room 8hz.

There been few reviews that owner prefer this sub than SVS PB-13 Ultra. Price is around USD 1800 but it's like getting 2 subs due to dual 15" driver design. And the ICE amplification is not cheap.

*
The Submersive has been getting a lot of good reviews. The current price is actually USD1995 (and that's only for a basic black finish, not even black wood veneer). And expect shipping on that to Malaysia to cost a bomb. I estimate that total landed cost (with taxes) to be near 11k. But it is probably among the best subs to be had at that price.

For that price can get JL Audio Fathom F112 oredi  drool.gif
*
Yes, but from all the comments so far the Submersive seems to be much better than the F112 or even F113.

However, it doesn't have the compact size or the excellent finish of the Fathoms.

actually the submersive cant be shipped directly to asia.. but maybe u can ask jmdibr's to ship to his fren in the states then ship to malaysia.. save u ALOT of tax:) .. from all the reviews it seems that svs ultra is no match n nothing near submersive..

the weakness of submersive is

1)long waiting list, if i remember correctly more than a month wait
2)dont think they will cover shipping cost to malaysia if got faulty parts (though i have nvr seen a thread abt a faulty unit yet)
*
Oh, Submersive can't be shipped to Asia? Anyway, even shipping within USA is USD115-135. So gotta pay that extra if go through jmdibr's friend. Hopefully will be offset by some tax savings.

Remember the Paradigm Sub25 that was mentioned before? A real monster of a sub, with a US RRP of $3999. You would imagine the local price would be like 15k or something like that.

Well, it's 'only' 11k smile.gif See: http://technu.nst.com.my/Current_News/tech...icle/index_html

So for those whose budget reaches 5 figures (not me sad.gif) this is another one to consider apart from the JL Fathoms and Submersive.

He-he, time to come back down to reality... I think among us forummers the max is around 6k+ for those who bought the Velo SPL1200 or the SVS PB12+. Majority of us still in the 2k-3k range.

All my friends, not only plaster ceiling, your eardrum might as well kena damage. Years of listening in high spl already damage my eardrum. Being to all specialist, the only fault seem to be years of listening in high spl. No joke  brothers.
*
Yeah, this is true. Prolonged exposure to high SPL can damage your hearing. That's why overseas you see those workers who are working in loud environments wearing earmuffs or earplugs (OSH requirements).

On the issue of sub cracking the plaster ceiling, in theory it could happen. But must be quite insane SPL I think. Do you listen at those levels?

If you have seen a plaster ceiling before installation, that plaster is around 1cm thick. It is not that fragile as some would think. Rattle i believe it will. Crack? Maybe in some very rare case, I'm lucky mine doesn't even rattle a bit - but on peasant 12Q only.
*
Lucky you to have no rattles. My plaster ceiling rattles and that limits my ability to turn up the sub loud (and its just a 12Q)! sad.gif Now gotta find some way to damp the ceiling if possible.

During renovation I consulted the contractor about the rattling issue, he recommended me to put more aluminum backbone structure - every 30cm apart. It was really a hectic job for them as they need to screw hundreds of screw to secure the plaster tightly. sweat.gif
*
QUOTE(pierreye @ Jul 21 2009, 03:01 PM)
What I do is ask the contractor to use the thicker frame and use rubbermat for each joint ot reduce metal vibration. Also put the rockwool on top of the plaster ceiling to act as broadband sound trap.
*
Unfortunately I wasn't aware of the plaster ceiling issues early on, otherwise I would taken your suggestions and do them. Anyway, I'm still able to access parts of the ceiling and try to dampen it as much as I can.

Anyway, on to something more interesting... I recently went to the cargo terminal to pick up something new. I wonder what it could be...?? hmm.gif

Oh look, it's a subwoofer (shown next to my 12Q).

user posted image

Any guesses what it could be?

Hint: it's sealed.

This is a relatively lesser known sub company. They only do sealed subs and those who have heard it over at AVS compare its sound quality to JL Fathom, but it lacks the Fathom's output.
