I'm still curious to find out about my rear surr speakers when the test tone is being sent to it; the flapping sound..

I wonder if its becaue of my Dali's ribbon tweeter or the driver is faulty..

Flapping sound? Doesn't seem normal... I'm also curious what it could be. Happens on both rear speakers? Or just 1 of them?

Happened on both. I told him that the test tone should near identical on each channels. Not until both Dali surr. spkrs.

It still have the test tone sound with additional 'taak... taak... taak...'. Sounds like a wodden rattan hitting on a desk.

I dont know, really. Initially i thought it was normal since the Dali had 2 tweeters in it...

Until bro htkaki came yday and told me its not normal... Anyone using Dali Ikon On Wall could perhaps share their experience?

Since it happened on both speakers, I'm inclined to think it's something to do with the speaker design itself. Normally if driver issue would affect 1 only, unless really bad luck both speakers also got bad driver.

Unless it is the characteristic of dual ribbons, that created such sounds.

That's puzzle me too since both sounded identical. If it is indeed the design, then this is very unique to me smile.gif

Dont need subdude, buy the AS EQ 1 la, one off solution. Dont need bass trap and whatever.

HTkaki came over my pad yday and help me calibrate my set with the inclusion of my new baby, the AS EQ 1..

Previously i was very sceptical that such product can work magic on the bass as i experienced very loose, muddy and boomy bass.. After setting up the As EQ 1, listening to bass was a different thing.. Tight, solid and clean bass..

As what both Ron and Htkaki say, after flicking the switch on and off a few times, i'm pretty sure my AS EQ 1's switch will be left 'on' AFAIK... Downside is, i'm still trying to adapt to certain scenes where the bass suddenly doesnt have the loud effect anymore (visible in transformers scene, the first scene "helicopter scene" and the airport "explosion scene")... Not boomy, and clean bass but stg's missing and that will be because of the near flat graph i assume..

Another thing to notice is that, after calibrating my set using the SPL meter, all my speakers (LCR, Surr & sub) trim were set to -9db sad.gif... Even setting to -12db trim on my AVR but still couldnt achieeve the 75db reference level on the SPL meter.. Probably HTkaki can shed some light on this and the solution..

But nevertheless, i think this AS EQ-1 has solved most of my bass problems biggrin.gif

I couldn't imagine what 13-Ultra could do in your room esp tuning it to run hot at+3dB. Maybe your Dali will came out from the mount, doors rattling, face shaking, those window blinds flapping, etc.... LOL...

That's for sure. Just too easy for 13-Ultra to pressurize the room. Even tune it at 75dB, I bet Ultra still easily overpower his room. If crank to -10db off reference level, I think I better excuse myself out from the room.

To be realistic the main things that will happen are: doors will rattle, windows too and very likely the plaster ceiling. Loose items on shelves will also vibrate. Loosely hung paintings might fall off...

But no blinds flapping or Dali coming out of the mounts (unless not tightened down properly).

Something is wrong, there shd be clear gushing sound when u play the internal test tones from the AVR. There shd be no flapping...Take it to the shop and ask them to test using pink noise there.

I don't think they are talking about the pink noise. It's the Audyssey test tone (I think it's called a 'chirp') which causes the funny sound.
