QUOTE(mpyw @ May 21 2009, 03:56 PM) Nope. 7.2 I think I need a bigger home if my upgrades keep going in this way. I am aiming multi-channel power amp for my upgrade. If not becuase of the expensive shipping fee, I would have go for PB-13Ultra. Itching to know how it could 'eat' Velo for breakfast. It's ok. I still have PC-12Plus to see how it stomps my CHT-12R. I really itching to know whether 2 CHT-12Rs can compete with a single PC-12Plus. |

By calculation including tax, PB13Ultra is about USD3,430, which is about RM12,213.

arj, you are right. That's what I been told too by SVS.
Are you joining us too to bring down our own home? After PC-12Plus, I think I would try the PC-13Ultra since they told me that my room can take it mys_terious, my friend told me that too. But, we need to check whether SVS accepts paypal. That's a good idea This post has been edited by htkaki: May 23 2009, 11:15 AM |

QUOTE(jchong @ May 25 2009, 06:47 PM) The Poor-Man's Subdude I am going to meet up with one acoustic foam / industrial grade foam supplier this week. I will take the subdude and show them since I saw that their products are near identical to it. Maybe can produce something similar to Auralex but at 'affordable' price (if there is a market for this). I do hope that I don't make life difficult for other hi-fi shops The talk about the Subdude made me experiment with DIY my own since I discovered I had some material lying around. Really all u need is 2 items: the platform and the feet. For the platform you need something rigid. I remembered I had a piece of 2'x2' 20mm granite slab spare. You can also get MDF board or plywood, etc. But the real key item is the feet. How do I know this - because I first experimented with just putting the granite slab on the floor and the sub on it. Not much effect since nothing to absorb the vibrations (the granite is after all very hard). For the feet I remembered that the packaging foam that came with the FCC 2 was a very firm/dense type. It's not styrofoam (too hard) nor the usual type of foam (too soft & airy). So I placed 2 pieces under the granite. The result: sub is less boomy now, bass is tighter, my plaster ceiling rattles less. In fact I'm able to turn up my sub volume. Previously volume at 35 was the threshold before ceiling rattles. Now can push to 40, so can enjoy louder! Here's the pic of my poor-man's Subdude: [attachmentid=985091] |

Probably not easy to get it that cheap if it is audio grade which will not 'disintegrate' (flake) and the foam is quite sturdy to withstand heavy items. Substandard foam would probably out of shape after some time.

jwjy, it would be no match for your SPL lah. Everytime audition SPL-1200R, I felt my CHT-12R is underpowered

QUOTE(jwyj @ May 26 2009, 09:27 PM) CHT-15R also no match for SPL-12? Hear first, hear first.... The CHT-15R isn't a power house compare to SPL-1200R. The probable advantage of CHT15R could be a tad fuller bass due to its size. When my SVS is here, I will definitely post it up for you all. I bet it would bring me a whole new experience since it go dig real low. Jwyj, you are welcome (no antidote) |

No problem but no antidote.
Most likely to do a shootout with CHT-12R and SPL-1200R to see how SVS fares. I WILL surely post the review to you all |
