still in the box oredi wanna sell
seems like the poison is really deep in u rclxms.gif
btw, is the difference really between heaven and earth meh? hmm.gif
*
Wah bro, i din say that lar... I wanna sell cos i have not gotten my HT setup and and since its still box i dont wanna open it so can sell as brand new mar...

Difference is not heaven and earth lah but rather individual preference. Some prefer Velo some prefer SVS.. For me i like the natural bass the SVS gives out..

Abt AS-EQ1, I am waiting to see the graph  and the audio result from a fellow member here once he lays his hands on it. Why? Coz he will be using 2 different subs; a SVS and a Velo.
*
Bro, its been a while since i'm here lol.. BTW, do share the graph and the insights with me once you have the charts... I'm interested to knwo the results. Just hope that the Velo that you're referring to is the Velo SPL Ultra 1200 tongue.gif

Cheers

Great idea bro.. But my downside now is, i dont have the equipments to calculate the graph for my room... I heard the Velo DD has this feature:P

all subs r good in their own way la.... every sub has their strength & weakness... it really depends on the individual I guess. Most important is to pair the right sub with the right individual wink.gif

In my case, I got perfect pairing d rclxms.gif

Wah u damn humble lah, bro... Anyway, its not invididual preference in this case... Who here wouldnt want a submersive sub tongue.gif

Hi Anfieldude,

I read back your post and u said that putting d Audyssey mic on chair is not the right way and we should put a tripod..

I've been putting the mic on my chair all this while as my AVR didnt come with a tripod... What is the difference between with and without using a tripod?

Thanks bros...

Yeap, i think i better study that Audyssey manual again.. I read it through briefly bout 2 months back...

BTW, anfieldude, i tried running Audyssey again last nite on 3 positions (Multi EQxt).. This time, the results were far worse. Sub was set to -14db, center to -3db, floorstanders -6db... I forgot bout my surr...

I was so pissed off (wasted my time again) that i set all back to 0 but sub to +3db..tongue.gif

Alrites.. Actuallly i ran my sub's EQ 2 weeks back dy... How to incorporate the both, i shall read up more..

BTW, another noob question, Audyseey calculates each individual speaker's distance.. What difference in sound if the distance were, for instance:

1. Audyssey calculates the speaker @ 8ft when my seating position is approx 12 ft

2. Audyssey calculates the speaker @ 16ft when my seating position is approx 12 ft

Is there any difference in sound for both the above scenario?

Thanks

Mine is calculating more than actual... For sub, i ready the Audysssey manual and that can be caused by the corssover setting.. But for speakers?

Also, other than delay, what other effects is have on the sound stage? My distance calculated were imbalanced i.e. left spk 9 ft, right spk 11 ft and in the end, the sound came mostly from my right speaker...

Question is, will it give a wider soundstage if i set the distance more than actual..

I suspect that his room acoustic is the main problem. Anyway, will check it out on Sun.

My room full with carpets both on the wall and on the floor dy...

Someone suggested bass traps but those stuff are not cheap tho...

Yeap, Sunday come loaded with some poison rclxms.gif

More is ok, it is incorporating a delay.

Imbalanced, need to check setup, are they symetrical? Is one closer to a wall? Or furniture? Sound coming out more, could be the trims not being accurate or some reflections.

It will not give wider soundstage by adding distance.
*
Yes both are symetrical and both are close to a wall. In fact, its less both are less than 5 inches away from the wall. But the wall is carpetted...

Before this, whenn i ran Audyssey the very first time, the distance calculated were balanced and accurate. That was before i had any carpets on wall or on floor.. But now, i have to manually balance it..

Dont need subdude, buy the AS EQ 1 la, one off solution. Dont need bass trap and whatever.

HTkaki came over my pad yday and help me calibrate my set with the inclusion of my new baby, the AS EQ 1..

Previously i was very sceptical that such product can work magic on the bass as i experienced very loose, muddy and boomy bass.. After setting up the As EQ 1, listening to bass was a different thing.. Tight, solid and clean bass..

As what both Ron and Htkaki say, after flicking the switch on and off a few times, i'm pretty sure my AS EQ 1's switch will be left 'on' AFAIK... Downside is, i'm still trying to adapt to certain scenes where the bass suddenly doesnt have the loud effect anymore (visible in transformers scene, the first scene "helicopter scene" and the airport "explosion scene")... Not boomy, and clean bass but stg's missing and that will be because of the near flat graph i assume..

Another thing to notice is that, after calibrating my set using the SPL meter, all my speakers (LCR, Surr & sub) trim were set to -9db sad.gif... Even setting to -12db trim on my AVR but still couldnt achieeve the 75db reference level on the SPL meter.. Probably HTkaki can shed some light on this and the solution..

But nevertheless, i think this AS EQ-1 has solved most of my bass problems biggrin.gif

That's most ppl will find it to be somewhat less oomph as there isn't any peak or 'artificial' bass anymore.

However, still need to get down to the dB issue. I suspect it could be due to the limited room size for the monstrous setup. Even trim to the lowest, still reading a crazy >80dB. Another headache is the 'ext in' on 876 unlike the easiness in Yamaha, Marantz and Denon.

Nvm, I'll seek help from HQ and we shall see to it soon  wink.gif I bet it should sounds much better when we get it done properly wink.gif
*
Lol, bro i believe it was due to the room size, perhaps.. Not due to the monstrous setup, me peasant only..

Oh yeah, i shud thank you bro for taking 5 hours of your time yday to calibrate and setup this thingy for me. Even Audyseey we ran it 3-4 times and its a pain in the a55 without the air con on rclxm9.gif
