It's very safe to go online with Wii. Even a noob like me is able to update everything and play online with the Wii

you can go online with the wii...just don't perform any system update via online and your wii will not be bricked

also, don't use any channels which requires to update before going online, same thing as above (eg your shop channel)

your wii is the complicated version. your xbox also the complicated version.

a funny story in a small town in malaysia. when into a shop. i was surprise there was so many wii consoles for sale. so got really excited, but my hard-on when soft-on real fast when i didn't see any wii games. zero. but i saw about 3 dozen ps3 games on the shelf many latest punya don't play play. i was saying to myself if i got a ps3 i won't be kehausan games to play. so i ask the owner, got ps3 or not? don't have leh. then why so many ps3 games? he said coz those are for his regulars. new ps3 console susah mau jual so he don't keep stock. then i shift to 360. got 3 consoles on the shelf, and about a dozen games. i ask him 360 laris ke? modded one sangat laris. then what is with the games on the shelf? some of his regulars like to play online so they buy these games. the rest buy from the binder there. ooo i see. i thank him and ordered a ps3, so i am waiting for my new ps3.......in a small town i won't have problems with my ps3.

Anyone managed to connect the Wiimote to the PC? I'm using Windows 7 and so far I can only get it paired, but won't work with GlovePie or other Programs.

I plan to buy Wii, but I still have some question ,

-Is modded Wii can play online?
-Is wii have hdmi port? Does it come with component cable?

Nope wii doesnt have hdmi port. It doesnt come with component cable. But you can buy it optional

yup adding another person to run along. already try to sync but no success. My nephews already target to compite with each other...hmm I try again tonight or tomorrow.

How much is the component cable? I still struggling to choose PS3 or Wii... PS3 is expensive, but can play online and enjoy the update, Wii is a lot cheaper but wondering need to go shop update firmware or watever when can't play new game... haih...

get wii umodded then u don't have to go to shop update firmware all the time. if u look at an unmodded wii and ps3, the price is nearly the same i.e. 12XX. ps3 games are more expensive by a bit, but it is easily available and u can easily trade (there is a big trade community in garage sale) . wii games are cheaper, but it harder to trade. so price wise just look at it as the same. unless u compare modded wii and ps3, then the wii looks attractive at first, until u hit those hassles later on.

The only thing that can stop you from pirating games is your conscience, not copy protection.

Why do you need a PS3 to play original in the first place? All consoles and handhelds are already intended to be used with original softwares. :/

hehe. not quite true. the only thing that can stop u from pirating games is copy protection. your conscience can be influenced. a bad thing done repeatedly can eventually be good. if wii and 360 has ps3 copy protection, who cares about people's conscience. i play original coz i don't want to be hassled and i m not so techie, and i like the latest of everything. but if i don't mind the above, i will pirate. i don't have a conscience in doing the right thing

btw, for those who living in the past who still thinks pirating is in. this gen of consoles will be the last of your freeloading habit. the next xbox720, wii 2 and ps4 will be pirate proof.

1. Besides unmodded can go online, and modded can play 'backups', what is the difference between unmodded and modded?
* Sorry I just saw a post above said 'Yes Ori or modded wii can play online' - is this true? Then why not go for modded then...

2. Which version should I get? So many versions - American set? etc?

3. How can I prevent my wii from being, what ppl say 'bricked'?

100% true , why ppl go for ori cos supports the ORI.

Usually in KL market , ORI is US VERSION , Modded is Korean Version

3. How can I prevent my wii from being, what ppl say 'bricked'?
If modded wii chances of simply installing stuff will brick ur wii and also updating anything from the server.
