Is the balance board worth it? The Wii Ski game looks cool.

Finally got my Wii. The controls though a bit awkward it's really cool. Can't wait for my motion plus and Wii Sports resort to arrive.
Didn't regret buying the balance board. My sis is having loads of fun skiing on it. Too bad I can't stand up =(.... |

Weee.... my motion plus and Wii Sports resort has arrived!
It's really cool, especially canoeing. And it's tiring as hell. Now I know why people say Wii gives them a workout. At first I though they are really just super lazy bums...but wow, it's really tiring after some time. |

Anyone managed to connect the Wiimote to the PC? I'm using Windows 7 and so far I can only get it paired, but won't work with GlovePie or other Programs.

I have a Nintendo Wii and it's been really fun playing games on it. However I'm quite annoyed that I can't upgrade it if I want to use Homebrew Apps. So I after much research and trial and error I've finally found a solution.
I managed to get the Wiimote working with Windows 7 32 bit. And I can play the Wii games I rip off the DVDs. The best part is this is completely brick proof and region free. It's all legal because there is not agreement signed before you play a game saying you need to play a game on a real Wii console or you can't play games outside the region they are sold. Wii games runs flawlessly on my laptop, which of course I hook to a TV. So now I can use my laptop to play Japanese games and game needing updates which could brick my Wii console, which I can use to experiment Homebrew stuff on. And all this is completely LEGAL, so don't shoot me back with the no piracy stuff. You buy original games and play it on the PC. |

QUOTE(Pr1me_Minister @ Jan 31 2010, 10:39 PM) If you read the instruction manual that comes with the game it clearly stated that "backup" or "archival" copies are not authorized and thus it's still illegal to rip the games from the original DVDs. That's still OK, because the emulator can play directly from the game disc without ripping it. However, regardless of what the manual says, there are no provision under the law that makes it illegal to create backup copies. Even Nintendo acknowledges this. And IMHO, since it's for personal use, you're respecting intellectual property just as much as you're already paying your share for the developers effort.QUOTE(ramz @ Jan 31 2010, 11:59 PM) a few point i want to make: I'm not asking people to buy a pirated game. I'm saying Wii games can be played on on the computer rather than the Wii console, and that it can be done legally for those who are concerned with obeying the law and respecting intellectual property.1. if u didn't buy the original wii game, no matter what u say to justify it, it is still illegal. but point taken u only said u rip it off the DVD, so there is no proof u did anything illegal. assuming u own the original wii DVD, then its perfectly legal. Yes, Dolphin Emulators are not user friendly and just connecting the Wiimote is already a hassle. However I managed to get things running in two days, including the googling and all. So it's not thaaaat complicated. You can play other region games by using a softmod and you can even upgrade a softmodded console. However, there is always a risk in bricking it. Some game require newer version of the softmod or CIOS to run and updating this can also brick my Wii. So I don't want to risk all these. And there may be people out there who treat the Wii Console as a homebrew hobby machine and don't want to brick it. So I'm suggesting an alternative. For games that run on the Wii I play it on the Wii, for games that don't, I've found an alternative. And the emulator for Wii runs games very well, even on a laptop. It's also much less hassle compared to the PS2 emulator (dumping the BIOS urgh...). I think it's much more of a hassle to softmod my Wii than run a Japanese game on my PC. Also, you might just want to hook up the Wiimote to the PC for fun. We all love the Wiimote for it's motion sensing and ergonomic design. It can be used as a remote control for the PC, a game controller and a very fun Google earth controller. This post has been edited by mumeichan: Feb 1 2010, 10:53 AM |

QUOTE(gundamalpha @ Feb 8 2010, 04:38 PM) Biggest disadvantage buying modded Wii is when you buy the latest Wii game asking you to update, you have to wait for one week to actually play the game while spending the 7 days researching how to mod the already modded Wii even further No such thing. Unless your bought your Wii years ago. This post has been edited by mumeichan: Feb 11 2010, 10:49 PM |
