well, about wii HD/ wii 2
definitely the next wii coming is not a HD version of the current wii
and i think personally, the wii could last another 2 years or more...probably 2012 when ninty decides to unveil another new console and probably will take them another year to develop it...which i think will be released in 2013
oh...will there be a 2013 anyway? world's gonna end and you need like 1 bil euro's to survive, right?XP
so, yea...i guess till then...enjoy the wii around for a few more years, especially since M+ just came out and not many games had been adapting to this new tech at this moment in time...
as for korean wii's to update to version 4.2, i think you can use a safe update to bypass the "protection", right?...but you still will need the soft modding skills to do so...
tbh, learning soft modding skills for the wii really benefits the owner a lot...well, at least especially when you are not at US/Australia/Japan to begin with...>.<"

you can go online with the wii...just don't perform any system update via online and your wii will not be bricked
also, don't use any channels which requires to update before going online, same thing as above (eg your shop channel)

well, to be honest...
a modded korean wii can't play GC games the reason is because it doesn't have a GC memory card slot and also the GC drive, IIRC
the korean version just don't support the GC hardware in its wii
i dunno about mod making it to play GC games though, cos i didn't put in the effort to check much after i bought the wii and came to the conclusion that a modded wii can't play GC games
a US wii though can play GC games, so, probably that is your biggest advantage of having an unmodded wii...of course, there are things like customer service and warranty from nintendo as well (i dunno about malaysia having it or not, but...well, that's what you get for having things unmodded)
wll, i'll tell you the downside of a modded wii as well
if you are clumsy with it, you WILL brick it (if you try to access online and obtain an update)
some of the channel functions might not have been installed properly (my wii can't use the photo channel and the mii channel when i just got it)
however, the upside of a modded wii when you know how to be a soft modder opens up countless possibilities for you to squeeze everything good from the wii...just like that
as for ori games and pirated games...some pirated games will have difficulties going online and some other problems that ori games would not likely have (but that doesn't mean that the ori games are problem free as well...if their coding is flawed, it will affect both ori and pirated games)...otherwise, they play the same

if you bought an ori wii from australia, the only games you can play on your wii is from australia (which is PAL coded)
if you intend to buy a game from KL, you will need to buy an ori game that is PAL coded...and if you somehow got an NTSC game, it will not work although the game may be original (cos of different region and wii region locks itself)
well, as for the network connectivity... i wonder how are you gonna burn yourself another copy of the original game, considering that if you have an original wii and don't have any soft modding skills yet i assume (cos burning wii games may be a lot more difficult than burning a PC game i suppose?)
if you somehow manage to burn a copy of the game...that will be known as a backup, and you will not be able to play backups without the homebrew channel...considering that you have an original wii...i doubt that you will have this channel...and if your system version is 4.2...(that is if you perform your system update regularly)...well, it will be more difficult to get the hbc installed in your wiis
what is the HomeBrewChannel(HBC)? the HBC is a channel which allows you to softmod your wii...and well, ninty don't like that channel much and 4.2 is regarded as the HBC killer as of time now...(where it erases the whole channel from your wii and will brick your wii if the update is done on a korean wii)
if you have all the above (or maybe you bought 2 of the same PAL games)...well, as long as you have your sis's friend code (and she also have a PAL system)...there will be no doubt that you can 100% connect to her

well...there are games i think that support (like conduit...where it has a worldwide channel)...and there are just local channels as well...
usually, if the game doesn't have a worldwide channel, it just allows only normal regional gameplay (as games are region coded, hence, the region lock)...depends on the game itself usually

well, there are reasons for the region lock...
mainly is for the language and the ESRB rating
anyway...for this gen, the region lock is here to stay...for next gen...nobody knows yet...

to afif,
about the rechargeable battery packs...i think it's a waste of money
i recommend rechargeable batteries for a cheaper price...and can perform longer than those battery packs...

i'm using a so called "3600mah" battery pack, which needs to charge for like 8 hours...and when it's "fully charged"...i only have 3 bars shown...which gets drained pretty fast too...
it costs me rm80 for that...and i felt conned by my wii shop seller to sell me that...=_="...sungei wang...the con valley...haha

dragontech china brand?...
mine is the PEGA one...with the shark symbol
it can be chared via USB only (u can plug it into your comp to charge, or the wii itself while playing)...however, i don't recommend doing so as sometimes, it may shock you if you hold it wrongly
i'm using an energiser battery, well, i have 4 AA rechargeable batteries actually, 2 came from the purchase of the charger itself (2500mah) and another one which is bought separately for rm50 i think, at 2450mah
well, being frank, the batteries which come together with the charger is also substandard quality...or probably the stock is pretty old, hence, it doesn't last as long as the separate purchase...
i recommend having 4 batteries too, as you can always have a spare pair lying around, just in case the one in use has been drained...
also, i recommand purchasing cheap non rechargeable AA batteries as well...as in either the 1st choice brand, or probably the carrefour brand (i dunno about the carefour brand, but it's the cheapest AA batteries i've seen on the market and have not tried how well it works)...i'm using the 1st choice brand batteries, and i'm quite happy with the quality of the battery as well...12 batteries for 10 bucks i think
hope this helps...=D

if you want to get a wii from the UK, i think it's ntsc coded, right? anyway, if it's not then it should be PAL
whichever it is, if you really want to play "malaysia" games...you will need to get it modded...just bring it to any shops and i believe that they will do it for a fee
if you want to support legit games, just buy your games according to the coded region and you'll play fine

QUOTE(ycyu17 @ Dec 16 2009, 09:52 PM) normally how much to mod the wii? because my wii console get detected (error 003 stated the device had been detected).. how to solve the problem.. please help me.. thanks you get a 003 error most likely because your wii is a korean modded wii and you went online with it to perform a firmware upgrade how much to fix this? if you are a modder yourself (and must be quite a good one)...i believe it will cost you not much except some tools that you may not have with you(i.e screwdrivers) but since you asked...well, it will depend on your own local gamestore to fix it for you...(i don't exactly know the price...sorry, some would say that you need a modchip or whatever...they could be lying...or maybe it's just a different way to unbrick your wii) hope that helps

QUOTE(goldbaeq @ Dec 17 2009, 12:31 PM) Hi..there... I want to buy wii..but really dunt know where to buy...interested in modded since im not interested for online gaming (can play with ps3 tho)..any suggestion for the best price?what about wii fit n GH? i've read some comments that there is a whole or integrated peripheral for health freaks gamers..its for my wife actually.. you can play wii games online with a modded wii...just don't upgrade your firmware, meaning that don't connect to any official nintendo servers to perform a firmware upgrade as for the 003 issue, there are game shops which i think may be possible to fix this issue (i know Singapore has one through googling), but it is one of the most difficult issues to fix, hence not many will be able to fix this (i don't know which shop in malaysia may be able to fix this issue though) however, with a LOT of soft modding skills, you will be able to fix this for "free" (that is if you know what you are doing) otherwise, just buy a new wii and don't perform an official firmware update anymore...XD(you can perform a "safe" firmware update with softmodding skills)

well...softmod, like ramz said...you can learn more about it on those sites... but to me, soft modding probably is just through installing HomeBrewChannel (HBC)...and you can install "stuffs" from then on by yourself...hence, the term softmodding
defiled, i have no idea, but probably it may be due to 4.2 clearing your system of HBC...hence...the term defiled?
region free is selling at a lower price because it's a korean wii...which is cheaper than the US/PAL ori sets, and no guarantees by nintendo...
you can call it a 2nd hand set...because it had been powered up and tempered by others to installs the HBC channel...and other stuffs i guess...but otherwise...it will be as good as new i suppose (just be sure to ask whether is it 2nd hand or not b4 purchasing)

if he purchased a legit NSMB and can't play it...i feel for him...don't you too ramz?
furthermore, if he runs 4.2 with his wii...i'll say that his wii will get bricked as...most likely it's a korean wii

well, you have yourself a soft modded wii alright...
as for R7...well, all i can tell you about is you pay additional stuff for things that you can dl online if you know how and what to do
as for softmods and korean set...typical malaysian games you can play...don't really need to care much about region...LOL

i mean the majority of wii's here are from korea...and technically...i am not very sure will it cause bricking even though its settings may point to the US region
