normally boutique was using formica or plywood type ...... reason very simple bcoz of the striking and eyes catching colours only can be done using these two different materials ......normally is showrooms, boutique or saloon will do the same to attracts more clients/customers ..... the following will help u to choose the carpenters which is most suited to your boutique ....... in the markets generally will have two different ppl was doing the carpentry works

1: chipboards (solid board)
2: plywoods (framing type)

very rare can find someone can do both of them, coz the method and the machinery to get the works done generally is very differents. plywoods type needs a lots of hand-on skills while chipboards generally more machines dependent. like the spray paints glass u mention above falls on plywoods type, so start looking/asking from this points should be easier for u to find someone to do the works. hope this will help.......  brows.gif

The price for plywood is around 10-20% more expensive than melamine board. By the way, this dosen't mean plywood is expensive on the material but the workmanship. It actually take longer time to complete the cabinet. But we always choose material depend on the design and requirement. smile.gif

ok, make myself clear actually plywood got few different category as below....

1: Full Plywood - body/carcass and doors was using plywood
2: Partial plywood - carcass melamine board and doors used plywood
3: Formica with plywood body/carcass

options 1 have veneer plywood (artificial / natural), plywood can have many different grains/species ..... like nyatoh, semangkok, sen, oak, pine, maple and etc etc etc ..... all this was in the option 1 category ..... so really hard to tell which is how much just as thats without specify what u need. but generally for options 1 can be around 40-60% more than melamine board if really have to give a figures..... but if this goes to ID then the price may go higher cost the will provide u the design and coordinations process.........

Hi cwhong,

Thank you very much for your detailed explanation, you are right spot on that the project required a plywood carpenter, seems like the carpenter that we shall look for is a carpenter who does fully plywood, as the design is using spraypaint, glass per your first post, and nyatoh finishing per your second post on some of the furniture. At least we now have a direction... thanks for showing us the light cwhong, really appreciated it. Now, the next step is to search for relevent carpenter, cheers smile.gif

u want to know whether he is good or bad, find out yourself. U can talk to him, go to his show room and judge yourself. I like to way he do business not because of he gives a lot of discount or free gift but he is quite flexible to suit your need and not very calculative. rolleyes.gif

My kitchen cabinet is finally done today! I'm one of the happy customer in hiring Unity Kitchen. From the first meeting Erny has shown me his professionalism in handling the project before I even decided to give them the job. when he's away, his team mate Nicole has helped me with the details, I don't have to repeat the things I want as she already aware about them. Seems Erny has done a proper handover. The another thing that impressed me alot is the 3 cabinet installers who came. (sorry that i didnt get their names), They were so punctual, professional and well disciplined!! I can see that they enjoy doing on what they are doing. Erny, this is to let you know that you and your team deserve a "pat on the back". I'm so pleased with the outcome of the project and can't wait to move into my new house. If you asked me to give Unity Kitchen a rating.. I would say 8/10... The 20% is for the room for improvement wink.gif kudos unity kitchen!
