Block board n plywood best for kitchen,
Melamine no good, but it's much cheaper though.

What the different between granite & solid surface?
*
Hi, just now i read the past post, got somebody post the different between granite &solid surface. ( by vinothrao84 )

solid surface:
advantage
> smooth surface no line in between
> scratch easy to polished
> a lil bit cheaper compare to granite
> easy to customize curves n shapes

disadvantage
> not recommend to put hot pan on direct surface
> easy to scratch n stain
> need to do maintenance such as polish is a must to keep shine smooth

granite:
advantage
> hard solid rock
> stain n scratch proven

disadvantage
> a bit expensive than solid surface
> once hairline crack, cannot repair
> cannot do smooth curve or shapes

Added on May 27, 2011, 6:05 pmKitchen table top got 4 types :
Wood top - Not expensive, many people choose
Granite ( Natural Stone ) - Not easy scratch or crack and its highly stain resistant, but quite expensive
Solid surface - Durable, easy to clean, come in many colours and patterns, water resistant but easy scratch too.
concrete top - Inexpensive, water resistant

Door and drawers :
1.ABS melamine board
2.High gloss acrylic with aluminium frame
3.Solid wood
4.Frosted glass with aluminium frame

Hi Erny, that day Patrick visit my colleagues Sally's friend house for KC dimension.
Patrick mention that your KC price is going to increase SOON?

My quotation date is NOV 2010, so should i go to revised the quotation?
Cos I may only call Patrick on end of June after the tiling work is done.

Hi,
The price for plywood and melamine already increase in market, around 10%. Most of the aluminum or chrome accessories will increase very soon.
We will try to keep the price as before if possible. sweat.gif
I think last week so many customers came to my showroom and paid the deposit to lock the price because of this reason..
If you want to lock the price as per discussed, you may come to our showroom and pay the deposit first. So even the price increase but we will still offer you the lower price. smile.gif

My kitchen cabinet is finally done today! I'm one of the happy customer in hiring Unity Kitchen. From the first meeting Erny has shown me his professionalism in handling the project before I even decided to give them the job. when he's away, his team mate Nicole has helped me with the details, I don't have to repeat the things I want as she already aware about them. Seems Erny has done a proper handover. The another thing that impressed me alot is the 3 cabinet installers who came. (sorry that i didnt get their names), They were so punctual, professional and well disciplined!! I can see that they enjoy doing on what they are doing. Erny, this is to let you know that you and your team deserve a "pat on the back". I'm so pleased with the outcome of the project and can't wait to move into my new house. If you asked me to give Unity Kitchen a rating.. I would say 8/10... The 20% is for the room for improvement wink.gif kudos unity kitchen!

Just watch 'Flip this House' on Astro Bio channel this morning. They use GRANICRETE as countertops. Practical coz it's heat and scratch resistant. Has smooth surface with no line in between and easy to customise the shapes and curves. A mixture of all the advantages of granite and solid surface. Not as expensive as granite. Good looking too as they use epoxy to coat the surface. I wonder whether we have GRANICRETE in Malaysia. Anybody knows? hmm.gif

hi erny, how much deposit is required to lock the price? and then how about the grace period for actual build/installation?
I guess, it is not refundable ehh?
Thanks.

I have made some changes and Steve just happy to change it for me WITHOUT CHARGING ME EXTRA eventhough is not his fault. He just put a smiling face the ask the contractor to take it back to change it to what i want. Good service. Keep up the good work Steve. thumbup.gif
