Thanks for your reply. Still looking around and found out now the tile come out 4x2 anti stain from China. Expensive abt RM90-100 per piece. My contractor said he can do it for me inclusive tile total lenght 34' for RM3700. I might consider it. Anybody use this 4x2 tile before and pro and con?? shakehead.gif

wow 4' x 2'?? would that too hard to 'stick' onto the concrete top? will it 'pop' up after few yrs of usage? because current 2x2 tile already need special compound n good workmanship to tile.

feel not secure to chop chicken on the 4x2, who knows it will break into 2 piece >_<"

from experience porceline tiles will pop up after few months ..... dunno why but many case already even my own house also like that..... just friendly reminders... no meaning to undermined any especially contractors notworthy.gif

Is it possible to:

1. Relaminate existing kitchen cabinet?
2. Extend existing kitchen cabinets?
3. Change the door on existing wardrobe from the swing-type to the slide-type?

Anybody can give me an idea of how much this would cost?

1 & 2, re-laminate and extend your kitchen cabinet, need to depent what kind of color and material for your existing kitchen cabinet, not every material can do so, and also the color may out for old and new 1.

3. from what i know there should be impossible, but still have to see then only can think how.

2 x 2 tile if you chop too hard on it will break into 2 pieces also. Had experience in breaking it before.

what color do you suggest to put on the 3G top and bottom cabinet? if the floor tile is biege color (light brownish), the concrete top i plan to put black with silver/gold dotted (some ppl said black galaxy), and the wall tile i plan to put white.

Is white color for both wall and bottom cabinet looks good? will it clash color with the kitchen top and floor tile?

my parents are planning to renovate the house soon. And we're looking into some kitchen designs. Nowadays i see a lot of kitchens have hoods above the stove. We used to have a house years ago that had a hood and it was a hassle just maintaining it because it was mostly oily. My family cooks everyday and we're not the type that go out to eat unless we're outside. So we plan not to have a hood, but I dont know if the technology of hoods has improve over the years where cleaning and maintaining it wont be a hassle or not.

So i'd like to ask a few 2 cents from you guys if its that necessary at all to have one or it would be fine without one? Btw, my parents just plan to install an exhaust fan as the ventilation, and we normally open the kitchen door when we cook

So if the hood is oily after cooking, do you expect your kitchen to be less oily without a hood? Where do you think the oil goes to now if there's no hood?

Agreed 101%.

Without the hood, where will the cooking fumes go to? The whole house will smell of the fumes.

At least with a hood, there will be oil trapped in the oil trap rather than not at all.

Only boiling/angmoh mild pan fry will be OK without a hood.

Chinese cooking definately need a hood on top of your hob.

What is the problem in maintaining the hood? If so lazy, then maybe hire a cleaner to clean it weekly for you. I think cleaning the whole house is a bigger job than maintaining the hood. Not like you need to dismantile the whole hood to get it cleaned.
