well, what i really meant was put the fan thru running water, then leave it to dry totally for a day or 2 maybe..then only put it back to work again.
of course i wouldn't be washing it and putting it back inside my case immediately laugh.gif

You can't do that for any electronic stuffs ... (even you have keep them dry for 2 days).

Can you wash your pc or notebook and keep it dry for 2 days, and expecting them still operating?

2 days....maybe...maybe not....depending on how dry it gets in those 2 days...

BUT... my old PC was once caught in a flood and it was totally submerged in water...it was off at the time of flood....

i put out to dry with a table fan blowing right at it for 2 weeks straight....turned it on and worked perfectly...just needed to replace the CMOS battery.

as long as theres no current going though them at the time....u can actually wash electrical items with water...no worries....just as long as u make sure its COMPLETELY dry before turning it on...how long it takes to get completely dry differs depending on ur ambient and airflow etc etc etc etc etc....also depends on how long ur willing to wait..if u turn it on too soon and theres still some water sure la kaput.

but in terms of washing fans with water....also can...once completely dry...just remember to add a small drop of oil to lubricate the bearings..coz the washing might have washed out the original lubricant...

For fans, I suggest remove the back sticker, then pull out the pin..Then can separate the impeller from the frame. Then use wet cloth to wipe off the dust and whatnot..

BTW, my name is not in the CM690 list..♥♥♥

dun wanna risk kaput-ing my whole pc also.
well i've got no issues with waiting, 2 days or 2 weeks is fine with me.

but still not so recommended to do so la,unless ur fan is rly tht dirty till the stains are unremovable by wiping.sometimes even after u wait for 2 days or weeks, there MIGHT be some water droplets which are trapped inside the bearing motor if its not sealed tight enough and once u turn it on,heaven gate is rdy for ur fan tongue.gif

btw a bit of not so related pic but still gt some CM element in it brows.gif

@yshiuan
i using CCF with the stock CCF fan
it claims to have 90.86CFM max
seriously the CM 90CFM fan comparing with the 140mm stock fan from HAF 932 is big
i swapped my rear fan with the 90CFM now seems to be better

somehow i don't think those demo fans are wired to 12v..thus not showing it's actual capabilities..
just for "demo"..let people see how it spins? lols.. that's what i think
unlike the demo fans at ALLIT..it is really believable

Just got a CM690 and i have a question.

Is there a way to fit a mesh grill for the PSU Fan? I am worried that the dust from the floor would fill the PSU fans quicker than I would like them too.

so the CM690 will be black base with white stripe like that.

dude my bro recommended me not to get Force 200 fans but instead get 2x120mm CM 90CFM fan instead
actually i need 60mm fan, which is the main thing
but if can get other fan of course better la improve airflow

Just got a CM690 and i have a question.

Is there a way to fit a mesh grill for the PSU Fan? I am worried that the dust from the floor would fill the PSU fans quicker than I would like them too.
*
Check ur psu whether the fan is blowing in or blowing out...U only need a fan fliter if ur psu fan is blowing in, coz the dust will be blown in together with air...

for the front, pull it from beneath it. u'll know the exact force needed to pull it out when the cover detached slowly.

as for the top cover, there's quite a few hooks locking it, release it one by one till all of it n pull it. icon_rolleyes.gif

I use both hands - ten fingers (at the same time) to pull the hooks in and up, the top cover will pop up.

Do the hooks facing (or near) the motherboard , pop up that section of top cover first before move to the back (motherboard back).

I can't say it is easy, but once you found "the way", you can open it easily (so as the front cover).

The top cover: I can see the hooks, do push it in or pull it out or push it up? Am I supposed to feel any movement as I release them? tongue.gif
Since it's DFI mobo, thinking of UV tongue.gif
*
the front cover is a bit hard to open, n it doesn't break easily. nod.gif

how to say bout the top arr... hmm.gif

the latch is hooked u see so basically u need to 'un-hooked' all the latches simultaneously in order to open it.

i've tried to take the pics but turns out unviewable... sweat.gif

i cant exactly recommend u any "bling" mobo as i dunno any dfi mobos or such
i only know those wif cool color themes, good looking logos or cool heat spreaders
n those r mainly high performance that cost a fortune sweat.gif

some of these i know r Foxconn n Asus ROG mobos which usually have nice colors
Gigabyte X58 mobos got 1 of the coolest lookin heat spreaders *shining blue* brows.gif drool.gif

i learnt from a PC repair shop, most mobo just die suddenly, and only normal usage.
saw some cases in Hardware Q&A also.

Wah is that so, then i gonna change to a new mobo liao. Thinking since now i got the ATCS 840, wanna add a nice "bling" mobo. Thinking of just getting a mobo for LGA775 to replace my current one.

Thats y i ask some recommendation here since you guys was on the topic of bling.

BTW, 1 of my CM 90CFM fans LED just burn, i think they are using 1 of those cheap and low quality LEDS as LED usually do not burn out that fast or it may be that the voltage is not balance across the 4 LEDs.

I'm gonna find out by dissecting 1. Ha Ha

The 90CFM fan LEDs, i think they are overvolt, i checked the voltage of the LED, n it is registered as 4.5v, i think they are controlling the current to the LED, not the voltage as when i remove the LED, the leads are registering 12V.

Nono, this kind of fan is too troublesome. I can't imagine if I have to start turning the fans everytime I cold start the computer.
I want to get a some fan for my CM690 top. I want something that is powerful and yet, the LED doesn't burn off within a year. tongue.gif

i'm using the nucleartec one for about 1 year already, still going strong, no burned LEDs thumbup.gif

btw, seems like airflow in my elite case is pretty bad, having quite high temps for my hard disks and GC. playing some games just now and my GC hanged twice, wonder whether it's realated to the temps.

yeah, when the insides are black, it'll pretty much blend in with the mobo and stuff, and mobo wont look so small compared to the wide empty space behind like it does now...
anyway, initially i was gonna get an elite 334, cos it's cheap and it looks like cm690. but rockrock ran out of stock, so he recommended me the 534+ instead.. had to fork out a bit more from my wallet, but it's totally worth it. i'm lovin this casing! glad to have a fellow 534+ user. thumbup.gif

Added on May 11, 2009, 10:25 pm@yshiuan, i changed V8's fan to 90cfm, reason is the higher rpm it got = 2000rpm rather than the stock one 1800rpm ( wif fan control attached)

if possible, the fan shud headed towards the rear but iinm from the pic, it's not possible cuz of ur RAMs.

so the other alternative is by blowing it up as hot air will flow upwards, cooler air aka intake from below or side to upper part n rear.

now fan blowing downwards is it? sweat.gif

I think it's better to change ur cooler instead of changing mobo...The cpu cooler is cheaper than mobo, so dont wasting money to mobo...
Sell or trade ur CCF with another cooler...U can put into garage sale, many ppl si looking for 2nd hand CCF...

depends on the ambient, but roughly can be seen when on 100% load. 4~5'C i'd say.

on idle only 1~2'C diff. wink.gif

V8 has to be better lah since the price is much expensive than Hyper 212.

of course there's alr no red light, i've changed it d... sweat.gif

more expensive doesn't mean it's better, example (again) sphere, price range almost the same wif hyper 212 but performance is totally diff. smile.gif

but V8 proves by reviews all over the web tat it's good n beat hyper 212, so i decided to use it. but it's actually for my next upgrade, for phenom II X4 955 BE. still funding...

wan to ask.how many fans u all connect (most) to a single molex?

as i found out my back exhaust fan (vizo starlet uv led) which is plugged onto the mobo is drawing too much power it seems frm it causing my comp to have some hiccups during power up,so i decide to connect it to molex to put less stress on the mobo

The molex should be in parallel connection. No voltage drop as you increase your fans on the same source unless your PSU fails to generate sufficient current for that rail. Each fan is taking a fraction of an ampere, having >10 fans on the same rail shouldn't be a problem.

meaning there's no fixed voltage for each molex?the psu will just pump as much as it can to each of them to just feed its needs?

the voltage value won't decrease or increase la
voltages in parallel circuit is same all over the circuit so its the same la
i connect like few fans per molex and also linked to a PATA HDD at the end
i use for so long already also no problem leh

no... means that all the voltage one the fan is same... no voltage drop, just current is distribute out, the psu will try to provide enuf current consumed....

voltage drop is not caused by the psu and by hardware we install.

edit.... koki was faster to explain blink.gif

seriously he got apply grease or not? coz fans tend to lose its efficiency or performance when there's more friction on the bearing

btw, here's a repost of the red LED + blue LED

look at the rear 90CFM fan, u can see the red LED lights getting dragged into the 90CFM

apply grease or oil will somehow reduce the friction and noise, also improving the performance
improvement in performance is because less friction to the bearing, so RPM also higher

But for the CM 90CFM fan (with LED), you cannot open the cover to expose the bearings as it is seal tight. I tried it cause wanna see the internal PCB connection, but cannot open it, anyone had any luck?

Added on May 13, 2009, 12:59 amI added some of my UV ccfl that was lying around Long time no use liao, wanna test it only. You can really see the mess inside my casing, lucky the interior is very spacious. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

actually to reveal the bearing, just open the CM sticker, the one which is not hologram one
if u peel it off a little, u can see the bearing already
opening the fan is not really recommended unless u know what you're doing
