Does anyone know about networking here?
Coz I just want to ask does all routers supports Gigabit LAN? I cannot stand transferring 8GB files in 15 minutes. So I'm going to buy a Gigabit LAN card for my P4 server and therefore I need to know my router will bottleneck or not. |

QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Dec 2 2009, 11:53 PM) Does anyone know about networking here? 15 years ago, 10mbps routersCoz I just want to ask does all routers supports Gigabit LAN? I cannot stand transferring 8GB files in 15 minutes. So I'm going to buy a Gigabit LAN card for my P4 server and therefore I need to know my router will bottleneck or not. 10 years ago, 100mbps routers 5 years ago, 1000mbps routers something like that , im just estimating however, not all routers are 1000MB.. we still have 100MB base... occasionally 10MB base the thing to note is Network Card > Network Cable > Router , and all the devices attached to it if ure going 1000MB architecture, everything has to upgrade together, sadly, my whole house is 100MB base.. but newer laptops are 1000MB liao adding to @DLWL posts i think even CAT 5E cable can do 1000MB but yeah just get CAT6 This post has been edited by Jcsy: Dec 3 2009, 02:06 AM |

CAT 5E , the last revision of the cable can do 1000MB i think
i used 2 have 1 for my office, specially for my notebook http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_5_cable Category 5e Cat 5e cable is an enhanced version of Cat 5 that adds specifications for far end crosstalk. It was formally defined in 2001 as the TIA/EIA-568-B standard, which no longer recognizes the original Cat 5 specification. Although 1000BASE-T was designed for use with Cat 5 cable, the tighter specifications associated with Cat 5e cable and connectors make it an excellent choice for use with 1000BASE-T. Despite the stricter performance specifications, Cat 5e cable does not enable longer cable distances for Ethernet networks: cables are still limited to a maximum of 100 m (328 ft) in length (normal practice is to limit fixed ("horizontal") cables to 90 m to allow for up to 5 m of patch cable at each end, this comes to a total of the previous mentioned 100 m maximum). Cat 5e cable performance characteristics and test methods are defined in TIA/EIA-568-B.2-2001. |

KHX rams has a lot of chipsets
Have to pinpoint via the RAM code and also its JEDEC timing and reviews Another way is to pry over the heat spreaders, but at the cost of warranty |

I think ati produces the 3 series to ge agp and some of the 4 series to get AGP. You gotta check , 7600GT is kinda old , get some 3xxx series which I think has DirectX 10 (i could be wrong) |
