After browsing education essentials so much, I realize that polytech didn't have its own thread. So, I decide to open one. All polytech student and ex student are welcome here. So, we can share the environment studying in polytech to those who wanna study there. This thread is open for all polytech, wherever in Malaysia (Mara or MOHE) or oversea.

erm... i want to know about （POLITEKNIK SULTAN ABDUL HALIM MU`ADZAM SHAH, JITRA ）did it ok?! erm... i maybe talking diploma markerting in there... so , i wan to know thing about there... are there study diploma markerting in english right ? and exam in english paper? are there teacher teaching with english or malay? erm.. at there many chinese students? how was the enviroment at there? anyways thanks u for telling me what u know about there.... |

KPTM is Kolej Poly-Tech Mara and it's a private college, whereas Polytechnic is a public one...
People tend to misunderstand about this one...Oh btw, should this thread applies to ILP students too? |

She said no matter what she doesn't want to get into FORM 6(past experience from me since I barely get into uni after F6) |

In the term of entering IPTA, it's better to get CGPA 2.6 in Matric/STPM rather than get CGPA 3.88 in Polytechnic (the highest CGPA I know failed in his application to Uni) She said no matter what she doesn't want to get into FORM 6(past experience from me since I barely get into uni after F6) . Yes, it's a different quota, intake and some expert in education intake will said STPM/Matric and dip intake is different, but just sharing my information so at least you know which one is good and have more chances .... anyway, remember that dip from polytechnic will compete with dip from the u (private college but affliate with the u) and the chances to enter established public u is a little difficult except you choose the right u. . Anyway, congrats to your sister for getting a good courses .. *Just sharing my past experience and 563 failed names in varied courses in my 'archive collection report' .. |

My diploma 2 and half year in poly. And is 100% English except Moral.
For my department when attend class must wear formal with tie. When workshop practices must wear department collar T-shirt. When practical can wear collar t-shirt or round neck but in dark colour. No Jeans allowed. I gonna have my interview oral exam at this Wednesday for what I done past six month in practical. |

Most of his classmates who graduated found jobs with monthly salaries of between 1,000 yuan and 2,000 yuan in their first year. Currently, more than 30 million students go to middle and higher vocational institutions across China; the same number as those attending mainstream high schools and universities. China is investing more to develop vocational training. Between 2006 and next year, it would have poured 14 billion yuan into the system. Until recently, the bulk of investments had gone into boosting university education, as China looked to highly educated citizens to upgrade its economy beyond basic manufacturing to tertiary industries. You need to know though that a Singaporean polytechnic diploma holder can be just as knowledgeable as a Malaysian degree holder.I've seen their syllabus and mind you their exams are much tougher and comprehensive. Taman Cempaka is a good place to start to find, near the polytech,shop and pasar malam, and also can find future wife there, so many girl rent there .. haha really?..mayb i shud rent a house there instead of traveling to poly from my house everyday and hopefully to find a future wife there haha LMAO! . Hi there. I'm the ex-student of polytechnic too. I from same poly with Hackezkk, which is from our lovely PSIS (Polytechnic Sabak Bernam). But he's my senior. Lol.
Finished my Certificate in Information Technology in January 2008. Hoping to get the integrasi by the early of next year. I really need the place for integrasi. Need it soooooo much. My CGPA for certificate is 3.52 only. You guys think got potential to further the diploma by the early next year? I'm so desperate to get the diploma. The integrasi is only 1 year right? if you take the same course as ur dip is, then the probability of it is yes.

I'm ex-student ungku omar polytechnic from department of mechanical..
Now working in die casting industrial at Asahi Kosei (M).. Talk about polytechnic compare with university student, there is one thing that polytechnic student trusted by employer which is their skills, because polytechnic student more on technical But, the certificate of polytechnic not valuable to goverment because all know education polytechnic level, also to university. |

hi, may i know how to get enrolled for january intake for polytechinic? im asking on behalf of my sister, and i have no idea how is this so as i never heard this around my years. but i heard from a friend, there is two intakes for polytechnic. when can u apply actually? is it like uitm december intake?
one more thing, is there any age limit to apply? say, you left spm about 2 years ago? |

Those who failed to get UPU, try to appeal :
1) UTEM 2) UNIMAP 3) UiTTHO and for those interested in computer science (UPM), try : 1) Network (recommended) 2) Computer System 3) Multimedia take first and second year change to your desired one .. can do transfer credit lulz .. **do not take software engineering ... hard to see polytechnic students there ... I just got this info from a Prof in Unimap.
Apparently, UniMAP has signed a contract with politeknik to make sure 20% of poli student can enter unimap. Some Uni do so too, but most of other uni will only take up about 10% or less. So you do the math. The purpose of establishment of K.U. (Kolej Universiti) is to take students with the technical background (with diploma etc), but due to the 'commercialization', we have been left out once again. But, don't feel disappointed. Most of the KU-upgrade University are more than willing to accept poli student. The fact is, 40% of the top scorers in Unimap are the ex-diploma student. Kindly feel good about that (I am ) |

E.K - I believe that not many poly students actually got upu offer for july intake.., ask all poly students in malaysia, in a class only few of them act got the chances to pursue their degree after finished dip in sem6 this year. Even for my class, only 2 get the pu offer from 39 students.
However, i'm positively sure that for the next UPU intake, many of the poly students will received offer since...sejarah berulang(matrix n stpm students is the priority first....) Result 3.8 above actually won't even guaranteed that u will get UPU offer, this is from my observation la....org kata, rezeki... My fren who got lower cgpa than others who got 3.95 got the upu offer instead the person who got cgpa 3.95. Some poly student act also got U that they don't even put the list in their choices list,(in my fren case....). And some also didnt't get the course that they wanted, And some are being offered degree that not related with diploma, for those who desperate....they might have just take it, but if it was me, i won't take the degree offer.... In my case, i also didn't get the upu offer..and i decided to work first for a year...then continue my degree later then. To those who will continue their degree study, CONGRATZ..!! |

Hi, I'm taking diploma in civil engineering at Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah , and I will be finishing my course in the coming July. I did apply mohe for local U, but I'm afraid if I don't get it since I heard alot of people saying Politeknik student hard to get it.
So my question is, which private uni accept diploma holder from politeknik? In civil engineering? And how many years more do politeknik diploma holder have to take in order to complete their degree? |

Luck play an important role here. One time, even 3.6 do not successful into the research universities, but another intake, even people with no inside cable, no extra curricular activity, 3.1x or 3.2x got their chances in the first intake. Beating out other good candidates with CGPA more than 3.5. Sometimes, it quite funny with the way they handle the intakes. It depends on the mood and the stupid knowledge of the officer.

sorry for bumping old threads but I got offer in DIPLOMA KEJURUTERAAN ELEKTRONIK(KOMPUTER), POLITEKNIK : TUANKU SULTANAH BAHIYAH, KULIM, KEDAH.
the only thing is, I heard its hard for polytechnics graduates to proceed to degree and its kinda make me worried since I want to proceed my studies as far as I can. So any advices? Should I reject this one and wait for UiTM second intake or receive this offer? |

Polytechnic diploma do not approved by MQA(malaysian qualification agency) so,after u complete your diploma,u're hardly to enter degree course offer in private university and also surely u're hardly to get a place in IPTA because places are given for STPM/matriculation students then only diploma graduates..it's imited slot for diplomaholder..haizzzzzz

UPU now are open for all ex-diploma. If you guys insist on pursuing degree, just apply for UniMAP, UTeM and UTHM. Its easir for you guy to get the offer...
For those who already finish their study, just send all the necessary documents needed at the respective unis. But to those who still in semester 6, there are something you need to do... You guys can apply UPU using ur sem 5 CGPA. Make sure you attach with them ur Sem1 until Sem5 result slip, "Surat Akuan Pelajar", Semester 6 course registration slip and MUET slip. For those who didn't take MUET yet, just attach ur MUET registration slip. But make sure, once you get ur full CGPA (sem1-sem 6) please hand it out a copy for them, via post or fax. If you follow the things that I said, its easy for you to get 1st intake. No need to fill up rayuan... All the best for you guys out there.... |

It's depend on the lect, but mostly lect will explain in BM even the notes are given in English, Final exam question is using English fully.

I'm wondering, for the polytechnics in Malaysia, do they use English in their syllabus? If so, how many percent of it? Can't help but to notice the poly students in Malaysia are extremely bad in their usage of English in contrast with Singaporean poly students (well, most of them) have better English than me.

Hey there, I'm a recent Polytechnic graduate!
After 2 years wasted in STPM (I got a bad score ), I went into poly. I got a CGPA of 3.59 in Automotive Engineering. Applied UTP but didn't get it. I might try again for the January intake since my transcript has arrived. I might wanna try and include every single curricular activities I had done as well. I'm not getting my hopes high though. If that fails it will be either UTM or UTeM.About the English....yeah I am sad myself to see the level of English in my poly. I got a band 5 in MUET at STPM, and none of my friends got past band 1 when taking it at poly. We are supposed to use all out English in our syllabus. Usually when answering a test fully in English, the lecturer will give you some 'bonus' marks (provided that your English is correct and 'advanced'), so it helps. It's all up to the lecturer though. Of all the working adults possesing diploma who went my way for queries on furthering their part time studies to degree ....
I found that Politeknik diploma holders are the ones with better paying jobs in private sectors. And have more passion to further their study to degree on a part time basis. Guess Politeknik may have the right ingredients for its graduates .... |
