Any other recommended cooked ROM? I need a fast, simple, and smooth ROM..I don't need a lot programs preloaded.. smile.gif

Flash ROM must update SPL first?  rclxub.gif
How to flash back stock SPL if I flash to 1.56?  doh.gif
I can't find a thread about it in XDA  rclxub.gif

Use uSPL instead of Hard SPL, it is easier to use.
Dutty 3.9 WM6.1 ROM is fast and hassle free.

Yes, you need to flash 1.56 SPL or just use uSPL before you flash ROM.

I use USPL 2.5..but the result cause screen distortion..and I read through XDA forum..they said need to flash to SPL 1.54 to overcome this problem.. rclxub.gif
So how? hmm.gif

QUOTE
The most important part about flashing a rom is knowing what SPL version your phone has and what rom you want to use before you begin flashing. If you are at a point where you have already begun flashing and are now getting a green, distorted screen, having huge issues with the phone not responding and airplane mode being stuck on, that is because you have done the process wrong.

If you are installing the newer cooked roms ( eg your quoted Energy) - it is best to use USPL 1.54 from the beginning. You did not mentioned clearly what is your problem - "distorted screen" - is it blurry fuzzy iomages and greenish color scheme ??? If so, you have make a mistake in your flashing : these 2 steps are crucial : READ it again every word of it - I guess most probably you have skip the overwrite part ( BOLD listed)

# (USPL3d) Run HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe from the download in step (USPL1b). Do not click any buttons on the screen when the application appears.
# (USPL3e) Copy RUU_Signed.nbh that you extracted from the download in step (USPL1a) and overwrite the one in the directory where you ran HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe from. If you get an error message saying that the file is already in use that is because you clicked one or more buttons in the HardSPL application window once it appeared. If that happens to you, exit from it, start it again, and DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING YET.

I have use USPL 1.54 to flash my previous htc HD countless times - you name the cooked rom , most probably 9/10 I have tried it. And I'd say most people failed in the steps I listed above

You can only restore fully to and from SAME rom only with exceptions personal data : PIM, Mail, My Documents. Normally the system data if restored will have problems - ranging from unbootable programs, hanging issues

Example : If you are using Energy rom version 1 you can FULLY restore 100 % without problems back to Energy rom version 1
If say you change rom to Energy ver 2 ( same cook but different version ) : you can use ver 1 backup to restore : 100 % can restore PIM, Mail, Documents but not your system/program data. You will notice after restore sometimes you cannot install any more additional programs besides the hanging/freeze and unlaunchable programs.

Based on my experience Sprite Backup is very much better and I'd say is 100% reliable restoraing while I give SPB Backup a 95%

You may find the following Sprite Backup part instruction manual useful. It is possible, at time, to restore the complete settings when a new ROM is flashed by using the Upgrade Option.

Upgrade Options
Sprite Backup uses different restore modes depending on the type of operation performed, e.g.
change in device or Operating System. This section of the guide helps you to set Upgrade Mode
restore options and explains when to use these options.
To set Upgrade Mode restore options follow the instructions below:
1. From the Sprite Backup main screen, select 'Options'.
Sprite Backup Main Screen
2. From the 'Options' screen, select 'Restore'.
Sprite Backup Options
Chapter 3 Options 37
3. From the 'Restore Options' screen, select 'Upgrade'.
Restore Options
4. In the Upgrade Mode screen Enable/Disable the settings you require.
Upgrade Mode Options
38 Sprite Backup Version 6 User's Guide
Level 1: Use this option to perform restore operations between the same devices with different
ROM revisions. For example: restoring from a KJAM ROM 2.16.9 to a KJAM AKU2 ROM version.
Level 2: Use this option when you wish to restore across devices and ROM versions. For example:
When restoring a backup file created on a WM2005 KJAM device onto a WM 2005 JAZJAR device.
Level 3: If your device does not boot after performing a ‘ROM Upgrade’ or ‘Device Upgrade’
restore use the ‘Safe Upgrade’ operation.
Choosing 'Prompt on upgrade' will cause Sprite Backup to prompt you every time that a restore
operation is performed between different ROM versions or devices. When the upgrade mode
prompt appears you will need to select the type of upgrade that you wish to apply to the restore
operation.
The 'Help' menu item displays this Help file.
1. Press 'OK' to save the settings or 'Cancel' to exit without saving.
Important Notes:
Please be aware that due to constant development and changes to the Windows Mobile platform
‘Upgrade Mode’ may not restore your device to a desired state. Depending on the type of
'Upgrade Mode' operation Sprite Backup will display a different warning message. If you are
restoring across devices with different versions of the operating system, you may be warned that
databases will not restore properly and you will be given the choice of restoring with or without
databases. If you choose to restore databases and the device is not stable after the restore,
please perform a hard reset and try again. This time do NOT include databases or select 'Level 3'
from the Merge Levels List.

ROM upgrade mode means same ROM but different version? So it cannot do restore when totally change new ROM? hmm.gif

Btw, can it restore program as well? how about setting? biggrin.gif
My program all installed in memory card, so do i need to install back after flash cooked ROM? shocking.gif

It depends. Sometime you can restore with different ROM, sometime you can't even restore with same series ROM. You just need to try.

You can restore EVERYTHING. It takes me only less than 10 mins to restore everything after I flashed a ROM.
My program all installed in memory card, so do i need to install back after flash cooked ROM?  shocking.gif
There is no need to reinstall any program if you can successfully restore your backup. Everything will be intact eg settings, programs etc
I'm able to run those programs in my memory card..but how can I create shortcut so in the future I can run the program without go to the directory?
At your SD card>Program Files>copy the lnk or exe file and paste it at \Windows\Start Menu. Some exe files are very big, eg Garmin. lnk is preferable if you can find them if not your can create them if you know the path.

One of the followings. ActiveSync Explorer is the easiest. biggrin.gif

* Use ActiveSync Explorer (obviously only works with a desktop PC)
* Use a better File Explorer like Resco File Explorer (http://www.resco-net.com)
* Use Scott's NewShortcut utility(http://www.scottandmichelle.net/scott

You can use HD Tweak or Advanced Configuration to change the Threaded SMS to Classic SMS. Both are freewares
