Nowadays all modern pdaphones will autoconfigure your internet settings once you put in a new simcard. Since you are using a htc HD it should not be a issue at all. Personally I am now on Digi and Celcom ( last year was on Maxis) - once you change sim, the phone will detect and auto configure it. If it doesn't this only means your HD has hardware problem. I travel overseas frequently ( over the last 2 years UK, Brunei, Cambodia, HK, China, Spore, Indonesia, HK, Macau, Australia ) and my htc phones will auto configure all the telco settings without any problems

You mean auto configure for data service or roaming? Definitely not the hardware problem, htc not like nokia receive the settings then save it can use, if really auto configure, why maxis website still wanna show the htc settings step by step?
If you said auto configure, how you make it? How you see the data service auto configure itself? Pls clarify more, thanx!

you may let the device auto configure it self once you slot in your simcard. or using the setting>connection>setup connection tool to set up your data services.
as for maxis web setting is for those who doesn't really into setting stuff and they prefer to done by maxis. but sometime manual setting is useful too IF auto configure fail.

When you put in a new simcard, the phone will show you message it will auto configure settings. I repeat since you are using HTC HD - this function is definately there ; this feature is there since the earlier htc models released at least 2-3 years back. I can only conclude is either your phone problem or simcard problem. Why don't you ask for a new simcard ?
I have been using Maxis 5 years already and on all my previous Dopod/Treo PRo/HTC pdaphones I need not do such settings manually - is all auto configure. And it will also autoconfigure for roaming data too.

I want to clarify first, I'm not using mobile internet package but i'm using maxis broadband package. I just called maxis broadband toll free and they told me the HTC phone can't set by itself and need to go to the nearest branches ask the staff there set for me.
